This paper aims at the development of an knowledge base for an electrical fire cause diagnosis system using the entity relation database. The relation database which provides a very simple but powerful way of representing data is widely used. The system focused on database construction and cause diagnosis can diagnose the causes of electrical fires easily and efficiently. In order to store and access to the information concerned with electrical fires, the key index items which identify electrical fires uniquely are derived out. The knowledge base consists of a case base which contains information from the past fires and a rule base with rules from expertise. To implement the knowledge base, Access 2000, one of DB development tools under windows environment and Visual Basic 6.0 are used as a DB building tool. For the reasoning technique, a mixed reasoning approach of a case based inference and a rule based inference has been adopted. Knowledge-based reasoning could present the cause of a newly occurred fire to be diagnosed by searching the knowledge base for reasonable matching. The knowledge-based database has not only searching functions with multiple attributes by using the collected various information(such as fire evidence, structure, and weather of a fire scene), but also more improved diagnosis functions which can be easily wed for the electrical fire cause diagnosis system.
The development of a practical technology intelligence system requires a knowledge base that structures the core information and its relationship distilled from large volumes of technical data. Previous studies have mainly focused on the methodological approaches for technology opportunities, while little attention has been paid to constructing a practical knowledge base. Therefore, this study proposes a procedure to construct a function-based knowledge base for technology intelligence. We define the product-function-technology relationship and subsequently present the detailed steps for the knowledge base construction. The knowledge base, which is constructed analyzing 1110582 patents between 2009 and 2013 from the United States Patent and Trademark Office database, contains the functional knowledge of products and technologies and the relationship between products and technologies. This study is the first attempt to develop a large-scale knowledge base using the concept of function and has the ability to serve as a basis not only for furthering technology opportunity analysis methods but also for developing practical technology intelligence systems.
One of the most important structural components of steel structures is the column-base connections which are obliged to transfer horizontal and vertical loads safely to the reinforced concrete (RC) or concrete base. The column-base connections of steel or composite steel structures can be organized both moment resistant and non-moment resistant leading to different connection styles. Some of these connection styles are ordinary bolded systems, socket systems and embedded systems. The structures are frequently exposed to cycling lateral loading effects causing fatal damages on connections like columns-to-beams or columns-to-base. In this paper, connection of steel column with RC base was investigated analytically and experimentally. In the experiments, bolded connections, socket and embedded connection systems are taken into consideration by applying cyclic lateral loads. Performance curves for each connection were obtained according to experimental and analytical studies conducted and inelastic behavior of connections was evaluated accordingly. The cyclic lateral performance of the connection style of embedding the steel column into the reinforced concrete base and strengthening of steel column in upper level of base connection was found to be higher and effective than other connection systems. Also, all relevant test results were discussed.

Mature embryo and leaf base segment of Korean oat were used as materials in an experiment to check plant regeneration efficiency. MS media supplemented with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), kinetin, and picloram were used for callus induction from mature embryos and leaf base segments. Three mg/l of 2,4D and 3 mg/l of picloram in callus induction medium showed high frequency for plant regeneration from mature embryos. Leaf base segments were transferred to callus induction medium and incubated at $25^{\circ}C$ in 16/8 hr light/dark cycle for 3 weeks. Callus induction from leaf base segments of Malgwiri showed high efficiency in medium containing 3 mg/l of 2,4-D and 1 mg/l of kinetin $(91.8\%)$. In case of Samhangwiri, the combinations of phytohormones did not show significant difference. Regeneration from leaf base segments showed high frequency in shoot medium containing 1 mg/l of antiauxin, tri-iodobenzoic acid (TIBA) and 1 mg/l of 6-benzyladenine (BA). Calli induced from leaf base segments of Samhangwiri and Malgwiri in media containing 3 mg/l of 2,4-D and 3 mg/l of picloram showed high regeneration frequency. It appears that the callus initiation medium may be an important factor for subsequent plant regeneration.

This paper presents a study on the position tracking control of a robot system on the uncertain elastic base. The elastic bathe is a nonholonomic system but it can be changed into holonomic system, which is much easier to analyze, by modeling an elastic base as a virtual robot that has passive joints. Also, Jacobian operators, which represent the overall robot system including base movement, are defined and applied to the changed model. However, because base movements are not known, the exact Jacobian operators can't be estimated. The control algorithm proposed is that uses only Jacobians of a real robot as approximate Jacobian operators. Therefore the approximate Jacobian operators compensate the measured errors from external sensors. The proposed control strategy is evaluated by the simulation and experiment of a single-axis robot system on the elastic base.

A new foundation type which is called Top-Base method has been used frequently in engineering practices in Korea. In this study, the settlement behavior of concrete Top-Base foundation on soft ground is investigated since the consolidation settlement of the embedding depth and the effect of footing dimensions are not included in current Korean criterion (2007). To obtain detailed information, the model tests of the Top-Base foundation are performed using the PLAXIS 3D finite element analysis. It is shown that in-situ measurements and finite element analysis of the behavior of foundations indicate that consolidation settlement is reduced up and bearing capacity of the foundation increases up to 50%~100%, compared to the primary non-treated ground. Based on this study, it is found that the Top-Base foundation prevents the lateral deformation of soft ground and reduces its negative dilatancy to the surface settlement, and that the foundation creates rather uniform stress distribution under it to increase its bearing capacity. It is also found that the total settlement of Top-Base foundation was highly dependent on the consolidation settlement and footing configurations.
In many literatures of model management, various schemes for representing model base schema have proposed. Ultimately, the goal is to arrive at a set of mutually supportive and synergistic methodologies and tools for the modeling problem domain and model base design. This paper focus on how best to structure and represent conceptual model of problem domain and schema of model base. Semantic concepts and modeling constructs are valuable conceptual tools for understanding the structural relationships and constraints involved in an model management environment. To this end, we reviewed the model management literature, and analyzed the constructs of modeling tools of data model management graph-based approach. Although they have good tools but most of them are not enough for the representation of structural relationships and constraints. So we wanted more powerful tools which can represent diverse constructs in a decision support modeling and model base schema design. For the design of a model base, we developed object modeling framework which uses Object Modeling Techniques (OMT). In Object Modeling Framework, model base schema are classified into conceptual schema, logical schema, and physical schema. The conceptual schema represents the user's view of problem domain, and the logical schema represents a model formatted by a particular modeling language. The schema design, this paper proposes an extension of Object Model to overcome some of the limitations exhibited by the OMT. The proposed tool, Extended Object Model(EOM) have diverse constructs for the representation of decision support problem domain and conceptual model base schema.

The bentonite slurry has been used as the stabilize suspension for wet process bored pile construction in Thailand. The bentonite suspension has benefit on filtration in the sand layer, but it creates thick cake film along pile shaft and loose sedimentation at pile toe. The base grouting technique was widely used to rectify the soft base or loose sedimentation problem of bored pile. The base grouting technique was not increased only end bearing capacity, but was also more increase in skin friction capacity of the bored piles. The comprehensive researches on base grouting was carried out by installing PVC casing inside the shaft to allow the drilling through the pile base in order to collect the soil sample below the pile tip. The polymer based slurry recently was used to replace the bentonite slurry to overcome the thick cake film along pile shaft as well as loose sedimentation at pile toe. The extent research on polymer slurry by physical model was performed to verify the real behavior of polymer. The appropriate mixing ratio of polymer was proposed. The design skin friction coefficient, $\beta$ and end bearing coefficient, Nq, for sand layer base on fully instrumented tested pile were proposed. The application on remedial of the lose capacity bored pile with large displacement in Bangladesh was proposed and discussed.

This study evaluated the structural safety of a heavy-duty integrated machine for grinding wheel forming. Structural analysis was performed to evaluate the structural safety of the base. The base was designed by dividing the single base and detachable base. The analysis conditions were applied to the own weight and the load of component parts. From the structural analysis results, although the stress of the detachable base was decreased, the amount of deformation was increased. If the deformation of the detachable base decreases, it is expected to be safer than the single base.

DC and AC current crowding effects for microwave and high speed bipolar transistors are investigated in detail using a new and accurate measurement technique based on Z-parameter equationa. Using the new measurement technique dc and ac current crowding effects have been explained clearly in bipolar junction transistors. To model ac crowding effects a capacitive element defined as base capacitance (C$_b$), called ac crowding capacitance is added to base resistance in parallel thereby treating the base resistance(R$_b$) as base impedance Z$_b$. It is shown that base resistance decreases with increasing collector current due to dc current crowding and approaches to a certain limited value at high collector current due to current crowding and approaches to a certain limited value at high collector currents regardless of the emitter size. It is also observed that due to ac current crowding base capacitance increases with increasing collector current. To quantigy the ac crowding effects for SPICE circuit simulation the base capacitance(C$_b$) including the base depletion and diffusion components has been modeled with an analytical expression form.
