An ansemble of N players arranged in a circle play a spatially dependent Parrondo game B. One player is randomly selected to play game B, which is based on the toss of a biased coin, with the amount of the bias depending on states of the selected player's two nearest neighbors. The player wins one unit with heads and loses one unit with tails. In game A' the randomly chosen player transfers one unit of capital to another player who is randomly chosen among N - 1 players. Game A' is fair with respect to the ensemble's total profit. The games are said to exhibit the Parrondo effect if game B is losing and the random mixture game C is winning and the reverse-Parrondo effect if game B is winning and the random mixture game C is losing. We compute the exact mean profits for games B and C by applying a state space reduction method with lumped Markov chains and we sketch the Parrondo and reverse-Parrondo regions for $3{\leq}N{\leq}6$.

During the screening of inhibitors against phospholipase C (PLC) and the formation of inositol phosphates (IP$_{t}$) at NIH3T3${\gamma}$1 cells from microbial secondary metabolites, we selected a fungal strain MT60109 which was capable of producing an inhibitor. By the taxonomic studies, this fungus was identified as Pseudallescheria sp. MT60109 and an inhibitor of PLC was purified by BuOH extraction and chromatographic techniques from the culture broth of Pseudallescheria sp. MT60109. The inhibitor was identified as thielavin B by the physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic analysis of UV, FAB-MS, $^{1}$H, $^{13}$C-NMR, $^{1}$H-$^{1}$H COSY and HMBC. Thielavin B showed potent inhibitory activity against PLC purified from bovine brain with an IC$_{50}$ of 20 $\mu$M. And it also inhibited the formation of inositol phosphates in platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) -stimulated NIH3T3${\gamma}$1 cells with an IC$_{50}$ of 20 $\mu$M.

Background: Inflammation is known to underlie the pathogenesis in neuropathic pain. This study investigated the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective mechanisms involved in antinociceptive effects of co-administration of acetaminophen and L-carnosine in chronic constriction injury (CCI)-induced peripheral neuropathy in male Wistar rats. Methods: Fifty-six male Wistar rats were randomly divided into seven experimental groups (n = 8) treated with normal saline/acetaminophen/acetaminophen + L-carnosine. CCI was used to induce neuropathic pain in rats. Hyperalgesia and allodynia were assessed using hotplate and von Frey tests, respectively. Investigation of spinal proinflammatory cytokines and antioxidant system were carried out after twenty-one days of treatment. Results: The results showed that the co-administration of acetaminophen and L-carnosine significantly (P < 0.001) increased the paw withdrawal threshold to thermal and mechanical stimuli in ligated rats compared to the ligated naïve group. There was a significant (P < 0.001) decrease in the levels of nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer B cell inhibitor, calcium ion, interleukin-1-beta, and tumour necrotic factor-alpha in the spinal cord of the group coadministered with acetaminophen and L-carnosine compared to the ligated control group. Co-administration with acetaminophen and L-carnosine increased the antioxidant enzymatic activities and reduced the lipid peroxidation in the spinal cord. Conclusions: Co-administration of acetaminophen and L-carnosine has anti-inflammatory effects as a mechanism that mediate its antinociceptive effects in CCI-induced peripheral neuropathy in Wistar rat.

This paper introduces an instruction fetch unit which is designed for RAPTOR, an on-chip multiprocessor. In order to reduce control hazards, the proposed fetch unit supports a hybrid branch prediction scheme which consists of a static scheme and the 2bC branch prediction scheme. The fetch unit also utilizes the branch folding technique with two instruction buffers to avoid the branch penalty caused by imspredictions. Instructions are predecoded in the fetch unit to achieve extra performance gain.

We observe the structure of a kind of unit-IFP ring that is constructed by Antoine, in relation with units and nilpotent elements. This article concerns the same argument in a more general situation, and study the structure of one-sided zero divisors in such rings. We also provide another kind of unit-IFP ring.

Generally, Adiabatic temperature rise and temperature rise rate are reported to increases when placement temperature, W/B and the unit water content is fixed. In this study, properties of adiabatic temperature rise on placement temperature consider the hot weather environments from of W/B 0.29, 0.34, 0.40 was reviewed, the amount of cement on mixing condition of the same W/B and unit water content evaluated on the impact of the adiabatic temperature rise. As a results, the adiabatic temperature rise of concrete is proportionate to binder as well as the cement content under the same unit water content.

In this paper, we give some results on ${\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}$ for the certain classes of holomorphic functions in the unit disc $E=\{z:{\mid}z{\mid}<1\}$ and on ${\partial}E=\{z:{\mid}z{\mid}=1\}$. For the function $f(z)=z^2+c_3z^3+c_4z^4+{\cdots}$ defined in the unit disc E such that $f(z){\in}{\mathcal{A}}_{\alpha}$, we estimate a modulus of the angular derivative of ${\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}$ function at the boundary point b with ${\frac{bf^{\prime}(b)}{f(b)}}=1+{\alpha}$. Moreover, Schwarz lemma for class ${\mathcal{A}}_{\alpha}$ is given. The sharpness of these inequalities is also proved.

The purpose of this study was provide basic data for homemakers' housing notion according to unit size in apartment. This study was conducted by questionnaires that concerning about middle class homemakers whom they lived in Bundang. The results of this study were as follows; 1) In research on the homemakers' general quality, 20pyung unit size was alike 30pyung unit size and 40pyung unit size was similar to 50pyung unit size. 2) Homemakers' perception according to unit size in apartment was various; (a) 20pyungㆍ30pyung unit size-effective household space for husbands' participation, more sports facilities, parking lot space etc. (b) 40pyungㆍ50pyung unit size-homemakers' individual room, ordering and variable unit plan etc. 3) In research on the homemakers' needs, each of unit size was analogous to storage, common facility, new design and new housing form etc.
