NURBS Post-processing of Linear Tool Path (미소직선 공구경로의 NURBS 변환)

  • NURBS (Non Uniform Rational B-Spline) is widely used in CAD system and NC data for high speed machining. Conventional CAM system changes NURBS surface to tessellated meshes or Z-map model, and produces linear tool path. The linear tool path is not good for precise machining and high speed machining. In this paper, an algorithm to change linear tool path to NURBS one was studied, and the machining result of NURBS tool path was compared with that of linear tool path. The N-post, post-processing and virtual machining software was developed. The N-Post post-processes linear tool path to NURBS tool path and quickly shades machined product on OpenGL view and compares a machined product with original CAD surface. A virtual machined model of original tool path and post-processed tool path was compared to original CAD model. The machining error of post-processed NURBS tool path was reduced to 43%. The original tool path and NURBS tool path was used to machine general model using same machine tool and machining condition. The machining time of post-processed NURBS tool path was reduced up to 38%.

  • 3차원 모델링 데이터를 VRML로 가시화하기 위해서는 용량 최적화와 실시간 렌더링이 중요하다. 실시간 렌더링은 객체에 따른 폴리건 수에 영향을 받게 되는데, 폴리건 수가 작으면 렌더링의 질이 저하되고 폴리건 수가 많아 데이터 용량이 크면 오브젝트 표현력은 좋으나 높은 대역폭을 필요로 하여, 디더링 철상이 발생과 실시간 렌더링이 어렵게 된다. 그러므로 네트워크 가상공간 내의 오브젝트는 최소의 폴리건을 사용해 메쉬를 단순화 시켜주는 방법으로 데이터 용량을 줄여주는데, 용량은 저하되지만 블록화 현상이 발생하여 저급한 렌더링이 된다. 본 논문에서는 모델링 데이터의 폴리건 수를 줄여 데이터 용량을 최적화 하고, 폴리건의 단순화에서 생기는 블록화 현상을 제거할 수 있는 방법으로 B-스플라인 곡선과 명암처리 기법인 고라우드 명암법을 이용하여 경계면을 부드럽게 처리할 수 있는 기법을 제시한다.

  • Originally, the thermoforming method has been developed to produce the plastic parts which have simple geometric characteristics such as door trims and wrapping materials within the short time. But the thermoformed parts have non-uniform thickness distributions over the surface according to the material characteristics, set-up angle and geometry of the parts. But, only few analysis methods have been developed so far, due to the difficulties of the selection of important factors, and contribution of each factor in the simulation. So, to guarantee the dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties of crucial points in the thermoformed parts, it is necessary to develop the thickness prediction method. This research suggests a new approaching methodology to predict the thermoformed parts by modulating the control points of the NURBS curve. The newly developed method makes it possible not only to choose the suitable thickness of polymer sheets but also to induce data modification for vacuum forming.

  • In 3D animation most people adjust the moving motion of their characters on various terrains by using motion data acquired with the motion capture equipment. The motion data can be used to present real human motions naturally, but the data must be captured again to apply to the different terrains from those given at acquiring mode. In addition, there would be a difficulty when applying the data to other characters, in that case the motion data must be captured newly or the existing motion data must be heavily edited manually. In this paper we propose a unified method to generate human motions of walking and running for various terrains such as flat plane, inclined plane, stairway and irregular face. With these methods we are able to generate human motions controlled by the parameters : body height, moving speed, stride, etc. In the proposed methods, the positions and angles of joint can be calculated by using inverse kinematics, and we calculate the trajectory of the swing leg and pelvis according to the cubic spline. With these methods we were presented moving motions using a model of a human body.

An Interactive Design System for Construction of Superyacht Profiles based on Freeform Curve Functionality (자유곡선의 모델링기능을 활용한 대화식 수퍼요트 프로파일 설계시스템 개발)

  • As a preliminary step to build a complete superyacht hull design program, the development of superyacht profile design system is introduced. The two-dimensional hull profile is decomposed into four local zones depending upon the functionality and connecting continuity of the profile. Characteristics of each zone are investigated and used to generate the model describing the geometric shape of zone using freeform curves. A set of design parameters is derived from the established geometric model. Generation and modification of a model are is by manipulating the chosen parameters. Four zones designed are integrated to form a final profile. An interactive design system performing all the modeling and modification processes is implemented using the graphic user interface system based an Microsoft Foundation Class and OpenCASCADE, a open graphic library. The shapes of the profiles generated by the developed design system are verified with those of built superyachts. The developed design system will be used for the construction of three-dimensional superyacht hull modeling system.

  • Many various products are manufactured which have sculptured surfaces recently. Constructing surface of these models is required technique called reverse engineering. In reverse engineering, a product which has sculptured surfaces is measured and we create surface model to acquire complete model data of object. Measured point data needs preprocess and sampling. Next a set of point data in a plane fit section curve. At last, surface is generated by fitting to section curves. Here we uses sweep surface. Sweep surface is compatible fitting CAD model to drawing. This paper discusses converting approximation of NURBS surface as a standard surface.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상에서 연속적인 얼굴 표정 변화 인식 방법에 대하여 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 가중 결합으로 정합 된 분류 그래프를 이용한 얼굴 특징점 추적과 특징 궤도와 표정 변화 모델의 비교에 의한 얼굴표정 인식의 두 가지 부분으로 구성된다. 표정 변화 모델은 얼굴 특징 동작과 표정의 변화사이의 연관 관계를 표현한 B-spline 곡선을 이용하여 구성된다. 유형뿐만 아니라 표정의 변화 단계까지 인식 할 수 있다. 더욱이 획득된 표정 정보는 다음 프레임의 추적의 지침으로 피드백 됨에 따라 추적의 검색 시간을 감소시킴으로서 교점 확산 구간을 최소화 할 수 있다.

  • Color는 다른 물체로부터 하나의 물체를 특정짓기 위한 효과적이고 강인한 실마리이므로 color clustering이 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 그러나 불규칙한 조명변화에 의한 color 변이 때문에 color segmentation은 매우 어렵다. 이 논문은 B-spline 곡선을 이용한, HSI color space에서의 intensity 정보를 포함한 신뢰할 수 있는 color modeling 방법을 제안한다. 이것은 비록 HS 평균임에도 불구하고 단색 물체의 color 분포가 조명이 변함에따라 변한다는 사실에 기반한다. 이 접근법을 사용하면 피부색을 가진 영역의 color clustering이 불규칙한 조명변화에 적응될 수 있다.

  • In this paper we propose an algorithm which fits a surface to noise-corrupted data points using an aceive sur-vace with global deformations.It is 3-dimensional surface extension of our precious works on 2-dimensional curve modell[11,12].We use fimite differences,and represent shapes of surface as global transfromation suring evolution based on the ballon [odel[2,3]which allows partial inflation or deflation by using niegborhood'sextermal foreces on each node points.At first,we make local deformations based on the balloon [odel,and then the blobal transformation from the surface before deformations to the defomed surface is calcualted by the deterministic lest squre method,finally we apply the global transformation to the surface before deformations.In experiments we fit a surface(elliposid,B-spline)to noise-corrupted 3D data points using the active surface with affine deformations.

  • This paper attempts to develop an algorithm which optimizes the electric field through the so-called NURB(Non-Uniform Rational B-spline) curve in order to improve the insulation capacity. In particular, the NURB curve is a kind of interpolation curve that can be expressed by a few variables. The electric field of a conductor is computed by Charge Simulation Method(CSM) while that of a spacer by Surface Charge Method(SCM); this mixed calculation method is adopted for the electric field optimization. For calculation of the initial and optimal shapes, the Gauss-Newton method, which is quite easy to formulate and has slightly faster convergence rate than other optimization techniques, was used. The tangential electric field, the total electric field, and the product of the tangential electric field and area (Area Effect) were chosen as the optimization objective function by the average value of electric field for the determined initial shape.
