  • In this paper, the standard Dole, Glover, Khargoneker, and Francis (abbr. : DGKF 1989) $H_{\infty}$ controller $(H_{\infty}C)$ is extended to the nonlinear feedback linearization-$H_{\infty}$ /sliding mode controller (NFL-$H_{\infty}$/SMC) to solve the problem associated with the full state feedback for the unmeasurable state variables in the conventional SMC, to obtain the smooth control as the linearized controller for a linear system (or to cancel the nonlinearity for the nonlinear system), and to improve the time-domain performance under worst case.

  • The difference in echogenicity between cancerous and normal tissues is not quite distinguishable in ultrasound B-mode imaging. However, tumor or cancer in breast or prostate tends to be stiffer than the surrounding normal tissue. Thus, imaging the stiffness contrast between the two different tissue types is helpful for quantitative diagnosis, and such a method of imaging the elasticity of human tissue is collectively referred to as ultrasound elasticity imaging. Recently, elasticity imaging has established itself as an effective diagnostic modality in addition to ultrasound B-mode imaging. The purpose of this paper is to present various elasticity imaging methods that have been reported up to now and to describe their principles of operation and characteristics.

  • An immersed boundary method(IBM, Kim et al.(2001)) for simulating flows over complex geometries is applied to computation of three-dimensional Floquet stability of a periodic wake. Floquet stability analysis is employed to extract different modes of three-dimensional instability. To verify the present method, a fully-resolved Floquet stability calculation for flow past a circular cylinder is considered. There are two different instability modes with long(mode A) and short (mode B) spanwise wavelengths for the periodic wake of a circular cylinder. The critical Reynolds number and the most unstable spanwise wavelengths of modes A and B are computed using the present method, and compared with other authors' results currently available.

Adaptive Multiview Video Coding Scheme Based on Spatiotemporal Correlation Analyses

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive multiview video coding scheme based on spatiotemporal correlation analyses using hierarchical B picture (AMVC-HBP) for the integrative encoding performances, including high compression efficiency, low complexity, fast random access, and view scalability, by integrating multiple prediction structures. We also propose an in-coding mode-switching algorithm that enables AMVC-HBP to adaptively select a better prediction structure in the encoding process without any additional complexity. Experimental results show that AMVC-HBP outperforms the previous multiview video coding scheme based on H.264/MPEG-4 AVC using the hierarchical B picture (MVC-HBP) on low complexity for 21.5%, on fast random access for about 20%, and on view scalability for 11% to 15% on average. In addition, distinct coding gain can be achieved by AMVC-HBP for dense and fast-moving sequences compared with MVC-HBP.

  • This paper deals with the modal analysis and the displacement of stator due to electromagnetic forces in Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM). A free-free model of the stator based on structural 3-dimensional Finite Element Method(FEM) is used for investigation the natural frequencies and the mode shapes of the stator. In addition, The displacement caused by magnetic force acting on stator pole is analyzed by the structural FEM coupled with the magnetic force. From these results, the resonance speed is obtained by the relation of the natural frequencies of the harmonic frequencies of magnetic force. And, the eccentricity with respect to rotor is predicted from the analysis result of the mechanical displacement of stator. The natural frequencies of stator are compared with experimental ones measured by modal testing.

  • In this paper, a new time-domain reduction method for unbalanced 3 phase power systems will be represented. The impulse response of the system is used to identify a discrete-time equivalent filter model. The model is formulated directly in the phase domain. Each phase has a self-mode equivalent model and two mutual-mode equivalent models. The equivalent model is determined by the transfer function identification technique based on the Prony analysis. The model is implemented in EMTDC and tested with an unbalanced 3 phase network. The result of test showed that the equivalent model is accurate.

  • 본 논문에서는 경계 모드(Critical Mode) 플라이백 타입의 DC-AC 인버터에 인터리빙을 적용한 디지털 제어를 제안한다. 연속모드(CCM)나 불연속모드(DCM)와 달리 경계 모드의 경우 주파수가 가변되기 때문에 인터리빙으로 구현하기는 상당히 까다로운 측면이 있다. 또한 아날로그 제어기로 구현에 한계를 지니기 때문에 보다 간편한 구현을 위해 디지털 제어IC을 이용하여 구현하는 방법에 대해 기술한다. 본문에서 200W급 플라이백 타입의 DC-AC 인버터에 경계모드 인터리빙을 방법을 적용한 후 실험으로 검증한다.

  • (3S,1'S)-3-(1'-Carboxy-2'-phenyl)ethylamino-2-oxetanone (1a) and (3R,1'S)-3-(1'-carboxy-2'-phenyl)ethylamino-2-oxetanone (1b) were designed, synthesized, and evaluated as inhibitors for carboxypeptidase A, a prototypical zinc protease that removes the C-terminal amino acid having an aromatic side chain from oligopeptide substrate. It was concluded from the analysis of inhibition kinetics that while 1a inactivates CPA irreversibly, its diastereoisomer, 1b is a weak competitive inhibitor for CPA. A possible explanation for the observed difference in inhibition mode that is dependent on the inhibitor stereochemistry is offered.

Experimental Evidence for New Pinning Conditions in Strongly Pinned Permalloy Film

  • Experimental evidence suggests that spin pinning conditions for standing spin mode in polycrystalline $Ni_{84}Fe_{16}$ alloy film, is confirmed using the four categories of Camley et al. and the value of q$\bot$ for the pinning conditions, this was achieved by performing Brillouin light scattering measurements. The value of q$\bot$ was observed, in order to increase at a rate of $\pi$/2 with an increasing mode number. With this condition, the coexistence of standing spin wave modes was shown, with intermediate pinning, in addition to free and strong pinning. The values for spin-wave-stiffness constant ($D_B$), g-factor (g), and surface magnetization (4$\pi$M) of the Permalloy film were obtained from the results of BLS, and determined to be $D_B=1.85{\pm}0.05Oecm^2$, $g=2.11{\pm}0.02$, and 4$\pi$M=8.7 kG, respectively.

  • We realized a depolarizer based on two 2$\times$2 directional couplers and single mode optical fiber. A reduction method for the degree of polarization is demonstrated by using computer simulation, which is verified experimentally. The degree of polarization is -20 dB for the polarized input beam of spectral width less than 0.05 nm. The experimental results verify that the polarization noise, which is due to the change of the input polarization state, can be reduced by making the fiber-ring delay-line length greater thanthecoherencelengthofthesource.
