  • The Ministry of Education has been quick to apply National Competency Standars (NCS) to industrial sites and educational·training institutions in order to resolve discrepancies between practical affairs in industrial sites and vocational education, training & requirements. Full implementation of NCS-based curriculum in vocational education of vocational high schools has been mandatory since 2018. This research used a region-stratified sample of 350 from teachers in 'machinery' and 'machine·metal' majors in mechanical departments of vocational high schools to investigate the awareness of practical courses for metal machining among the teachers. The research results are as follows. First, a majority of the respondents indicated the availability of turning process, milling process, computer integrated manufacturing and measuring courses in mechanical departments. Second, capabilities required by the industry are considered most in selecting practical courses and competence units. Third, positive changes with the introduction of practical courses in the school education are students' practical skills improvement and satisfaction of industrial requirements. Fourth, negative changes with the introduction of practical courses in the school education are too difficult learning modules used in practical courses for students and students' difficulty in learning because of the difference between equipment in schools and industrial equipment in learning modules. Fifth, teachers' satisfaction with practical courses classes and overall conditions is above the average, and their satisfaction with the level of practical courses and bookbinding or purchase of rearranged textbooks of practical courses is below the average. Therefore, application conditions of above-mentioned representative 4 practical courses should be examined and taken care of for consistent improvement to stabilize NCS-based educational courses in mechanical departments.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a sexuality education program for early adolescents. The overall goals of the program were to not only increase knowledge and skirts, but also to improve the awareness of healthy sex in order to promote premarital abstinence, parent-teen communication and parental awareness of the importance of parental roles and responsibilities in prevention of sexual problems of the early adolescent. The program consisted of six sessions: puberty changes during adolescence, the meaning of sexuality, sexual drives in dating relationships, understanding of the risks associated with early sexual involvement and support for postponing sexual activities, managing and avoiding sexually risky situations, the importance of communications with parents about issues related to sexuality. The program evaluation had three steps: pre-test, immediate post-test and two month follow-up post test. The results showed that the program had a significantly positive effect on the improvement of adolescent's knowledge about sex, and attitudes and behaviors toward sex, particularly in the immediate post-test. At the two month follow-up assessment, the effect of the program still remained strong, though there was a sight and partial reduction which was not statistically significant. Most of the program participants expressed a high level of satisfaction with the program. Parental involvement appeared to be effective as well. Recommendations for further study include: to re-evaluate the curriculum for various other participants. In addition, further study which would compare post-test results of these participants with a comparison group of peers who did not receive the program would be valuable. The author believes that the program can be used in implementing specific subjects (sessions) in new settings, as well as implementing the entire package of the program.

A self-administered survey was carried out, and the findings of the study were as follows: In terms of satisfaction level with the general education courses, they got 2.54, which was a low score. To be specific, they expressed the most satisfaction with the duplication of the courses (2.63%), followed by appropriateness (2.61%) and teaching methods (2.60%). As for links between general characteristics and satisfaction with the general education courses, the students who were more satisfied with their major were more gratified with the general education courses, and the gap between them and the others was statistically significant (p<.001). The students didn't think that the general education courses they were taking were conducive to character building. Concerning connections between general characteristics and view of the general education courses, the students who were better contented with their major took a more favorable view of the general education courses, and the gap between them and the others was statistically significant (p<.05). In relation to expectations for the general education courses, they asked for efficient teaching methods, competent lecturers and the kinds of general education courses that could step up self-development. Therefore the general education curriculums should discreetly be reviewed to ensure the successful and diverse implementation of the curriculums.

Statistical analysis was conducted based on the frequency after collecting the data. Mean ${\pm}$ SD used to determine satisfaction with taste education, with preferences marked on a five-point scale and the alpha was set at 0.05. The program includes five teachers' guides with subjects of sweetness, saltiness, sourness, bitterness and harmony of flavor, and ten kinds of teaching tools. For the change in parents' recognition of the need for taste education based on five-point scale, the average of $4.06{\pm}0.62$ before the program has significantly increased to $4.32{\pm}0.52$ (P < 0.01). Regarding the change in the preferences for sweetness, saltiness, sourness, and bitterness, the average has increased to $3.83{\pm}0.61$, $3.62{\pm}0.66$, $3.64{\pm}0.66$, and $3.56{\pm}0.75$ respectively. In an evaluation of instructors in child care facilities, the average scores for education method, education effect, education contents and nutritionists, and teaching tools were at $4.15{\pm}0.63$, $3.91{\pm}0.50$, $4.18{\pm}0.50$, and $3.80{\pm}0.56$ respectively. • Elementary information education is currently provided in accordance with the 2000 ICT educational guidelines. Although the focus of education has shifted from practical use to computer science since 2005, in which way academic education should be led isn't yet clear. The purpose of this study was to examine the impacts of computer science education(CS education) by an education programming tool on school children's awareness of that education. The selected students received education about unplugged, scratch and robot programming, part of the computer science curriculum, in 12 sessions. As a result, there were significant differences between the experimental and control groups in all the variables that included attitude to computer science, interest in that, satisfaction level, self-efficacy and perception of the value of CS education. The findings of the study suggested that in CS education, the improvement of thinking faculty should take precedence over practical use of what's learned, which is expected to heighten the value of that education.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the college students' needs for software curriculum which based on surveys from educational satisfaction of the software lecture evaluation, as well as to find out the improvement plan by applying the text content analysis method. The research method used the text content analysis program to calculate the frequency of words occurrence, key words selection, co-occurrence frequency of key words, and analyzed the text center and network analysis by using the network analysis program. As a result of this research, the decent points of the software education network are mentioned with 'lecturer' is the most frequently occurrence after then with 'kindness', 'student', 'explanation', 'coding'. The network analysis of the shortage points has been the most mention of 'lecture', 'wish to', 'student', 'lecturer', 'assignment', 'coding', 'difficult', and 'announcement' which are mentioned together. The comprehensive network analysis of both good and shortage points has compared among key words, we can figure out difference among the key words: for example, 'group activity or task', 'assignment', 'difficulty on level of lecture', and 'thinking about lecturer'. Also, from this difference, we can provide that the lack of proper role of individual staff at group activities, difficult and excessive tasks, awareness of the difficulty and necessity of software education, lack of instructor's teaching method and feedback. Therefore, it is necessary to examine not only how the grouping of software education (activities) and giving assignments (or tasks), but also how carried out group activities and tasks and monitored about the contents of lectures, teaching methods, the ratio of practice and design thinking.

  • Compared to the word "memory" in general, the word "record" can be unfamiliar. This study addressed the problem that elementary school students do not have enough learning opportunities due to the lack of content on records in the curriculum. An educational program using Korea's UNESCO Memory of the world was conducted for three classes of 6th graders at J Elementary School, and the effect of the program was analyzed by administering pre- and post-surveys to students and in-depth interviews to teachers. The results of the student survey showed a significant improvement in their understanding, knowledge, satisfaction with the lessons, and need for records and Korean UNESCO Memory of the world. Teacher interviews confirmed the effect of the program, but suggested that it should be adjusted to fit the limited time available. Based on this, we verified the effect of the developed program and suggested directions for improvement of future record education programs.
