Aerodynamic design optimization of an aircraft wing for drag reduction using computational fluid dynamics approach

  • The aircraft industry supports aviation by building aircraft and manufacturing aircraft parts for their maintenance. Fuel economization is one of the biggest concerns in the aircraft industry. The reduction in specific fuel consumption of aircraft can be achieved by a variety of means, simplest and more effective is the one to impose minor modifications in the aircraft main wing or the parts which are exposed to the air flow. This method can lead to a reduction in aerodynamic resistance offered by the air and have a smoother flight. The main objective of this study is to propose geometric design modifications on an existing aircraft wing which acts as a vortex generator and it can reduce the drag and increase lift to drag ratio, leading to lower fuel consumption. The NACA 2412 aircraft wing is modified and designed. Rigorous flow analysis is carried out using computational fluid dynamics based software Ansys Fluent. Results show that saw tooth modification to the main wing shows the best aerodynamic efficiency as compared to other modifications.

궤도결정을 위한 비선형 필터 (Nonlinear Filter for Orbit Determination)

  • Orbit determination problems have been interest of many researchers for long time. Due to the high nonlinearity of the equation of motion and the measurement model, it is necessary to linearize the both equations. To avoid linearization, the filter based on Fokker-Planck equation is designed. with the extended Kalman filter update mechanism, in which the associated Fokker-Planck equation was solved efficiently and accurately via discrete quadrature and the measurement update was done through the extended Kalman filter update mechanism. This filter based on the DQMOM and the EKF update is applied to the orbit determination problem with appropriate modification to mitigate the filter smugness. Unlike the extended Kalman filter, the hybrid filter based on the DQMOM and the EKF update does not require the burdensome evaluation of the Jacobian matrix and Gaussian assumption for the system, and can still provide more accurate estimations of the state than those of the extended Kalman filter especially when measurements are sparse. Simulation results indicate that the advantages of the hybrid filter based on the DQMOM and the EKF update make it a promising alternative to the extended Kalman filter for orbit estimation problems.

  • In general, the gears of mixer reducer for concrete mixer truck make use of the differential type planetary gear system to rotate mixer drum smoothly on the initial conditions. The planetary gear system is very important part of mixer reducer for concrete mixer truck because of strength problem. In the present study, calculating the gear specifications and analyzing the gear bending & compressive stresses of the differential planetary gear system for mixer reducer are necessary to analyze gear bending and compressive stresses confidently, for optimal design of the planetary gear system in respect to cost and reliability. As a result, analyzing actual gear bending and compressive stresses of the planetary gear system using Lewes & Hertz equation and verifying the calculated specifications of the planetary gear system, evaluate the results with the data of allowable bending and compressive stress from the Stress-No. of cycles curves of gears.

분수차수제어기를 이용한 솔레노이드밸브 위치제어 (Position Control for Solenoid Valve using the Fractional Order Controller)

  • 본 연구는 산업현장에서 많이 사용되는 솔레노이드의 사용함에 있어서, 정밀한 위치 제어를 위한 제어기 설계의 방법을 제안한다. 먼저 관측기는 외란을 적극 반영하여 상태추정을 할 수 있는 루엔버거 관측기를 설계하고 적절한 이득을 설정한다. 관측된 상태를 바탕으로 분수차수 PD제어기를 설계하여, 위치제어에 적용한 결과 분수차수제어기는 목표량이 다르더라도 거의 동일한 제어성능을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한, 정상상태의 위치 오차가 0.1[%]이내이고, 기동시간이 약 0.05초 이내의 정밀한 위치제어성능 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

IPMSM의 토크출력피드백을 이용한 속도제어 (Speed Control of the IPMSM Using The Torque Output Feedback)

  • 본 연구는 정밀한 각속도 추종을 위해 토크오차를 보상하는 제어기와 구현에서 제어기의 안정성을 보완하는 방법을 제안한다. 또한 설계된 제어기가 점근적인 안정할 수 있음을 리아프노프 안정도이론에 근거하여 증명하였다. 제안된 제어기는 d축 기준전류를 임의 값에 대한 제어가 가능하고, 속도이득과 전류이득의 두 가지로 손쉽게 제어성능을 달성할 수 있도록 하였다. 약 750W급의 IPMSM에 적용한 결과 레퍼런스 속도 1200[RPM]에 대한 정상상태 오차는 0.1[%]이내이며, 약 5[Nm]의 상수부하에서 약 0.2초 이내에 외란을 극복하여 점근적인 안정한 제어기임을 확인 할 수 있다.

  • The power train of a concrete truck mixer reducer includes differential planetary gears to get a large reduction ratio for operating the mixer drum in a compact structure. These differential planetary gears are a very important part of the mixer reducer where strength problems are the main concern. Gear bending stress, gear compressive stress and scoring failure are the main concerns. Many failures in differential planetary gears are due to the insufficient gear strength and resonance problems caused by major excitation forces such as gear mating failure in the transmission. In the present study, where the excitation frequencies are the gear tooth passing frequencies of the mating gears, a Campbell diagram is used to calculate differential planetary gear critical speeds. Mode shapes and natural frequencies of the differential planetary gears are calculated by CATIA V5. These are used to predict gear resonance failures by comparing the working speed range with the critical speeds due to the gear transmission errors of the differential planetary gears.

  • The power train of hydro-mechanical continuously variable transmission (HMCVT) for 8-ton class forklift includes hydro-static units, hydraulic multi-wet disc brake & clutches and complex helical & planetary gears. The helical & planetary gears are key components of HMCVT's power train wherein strength problems are the main concerns including gear bending stress, gear compressive stress, and scoring failure. Many failures in power train gears of HMCVT are due to the insufficient gear strength and resonance problems caused by major excitation forces, such as gear transmission error of mating gear fair in the transmission.   • 항공 수하물과 항공화물 컨테이너 등의 관리에 활용되고 있는 RFID는 항공기 장착 부품의 부품관리로 그 이용이 시도되면서 항공기 정비이력관리 등 정비업무에도 활용되는 등 항공업무에 그 활용도가 확산이 되고 있다. 그러나 RFID 태그와 리더기의 사용시 무선주파수 에너지 방출로 항공기의 운항에 대한 안전성 문제가 대두되고 있다. RFID 장치의 작동으로 미약한 전자파이긴 하지만 자유공간으로 방사되어 운항중인 항공기 내부의 신호를 전송하는 배선에 유기될 경우 장애가 우려되는 것이다. 그러므로 필수장비와 치명장비로 분류되는 항공기 전자장비 및 시스템에 대한 장애 평가를 사전에 필수적으로 수행 하여야 RFID 장치의 사용으로 인한 안전문제를 해결해 나갈 수 있다.

  • The Improvement of thermal performance using heat treatment of carbon nanotubes coated on the copper heat sink to take the radiation energy from solar ray for the energy harvesting in earth orbit. Using the additive coating of purified CNT for the increase of specific area and development of thermal conductive capacity, the performance of heat transfer is improved about 0.181 K/W while applying the power of 22 W under temperature of 3.98℃. Coating of purified CNT shows increase of area and volume of thermal layer however it led the partial thermal resistance.

  • 우리는 준 2차원 Landau 분할 시스템의 양자 광학 전이 특성을 실리콘(Si)에서 이론적으로 고찰하였다. Squre wall 구속 포텐셜에 의한 전자 구속 시스템에 양자 수송 이론(QTR)을 적용하였습니다. 평형 평균 투영 계획(Equilibrium Average Projection Scheme : EAPS)으로 계획된 Liouville 방정식 방법을 사용하였으며, 양자 전이를 분석하기 위해 포톤 방출 전이과정과 포논 흡수 전이 과정의 두 전이 과정에서 QTLW와 QTLS의 온도와 자기장 의존성을 비교하였습니다. 이 연구를 통해 Si의 QTLW와 QTLS의 온도와 자기장의 증가하는 특성을 발견하였으며, 또한 우세한 산란 과정이 포논 방출 전이 과정이라는 것을 발견했다.
