The purpose of this study was to perform the kinematic analyses of the women's pole vault skills in IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011. Subjects were the 1st through 8th place finishers in the pole vault. The kinematic analyses were divided into four phases: two dimensional run up analysis, and three dimensional analyses for the remaining plant, swing up, and extension phases. Run-up variables consisted of run up distance, number of steps, average step length, ratio of step length to height, average velocity at the final 5~10 m, approach position. Three variables were analyzed during plant: pole angle, center of gravity (COG) velocity, and COG takeoff angle. Swing up phase variables included: pole flection angle, COG velocity (horizontal, vertical, resultant), COG trajectory and bar approach angle of COG. Compared to the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, the average vault height increased, while run up velocity and approach position were almost unchanged. However, horizontal velocity during the last two steps of the final approach decreased noticeably compared to speeds from 1990. These results reflect the change in both technique and physical fitness in pole vaulters. During extension, the peak height of COG surpassed the clearance height by an average of 0.11m. These specific results can help coaches and athletes modify training and improve performance.
We propose efficient scan testing method capable of reducing the test data and power dissipation for digital logic circuits. The proposed testing method is based on a hybrid run-length encoding which reduces test data storage on the tester. We also introduce modified Bus-invert coding method and scan cell design in scan cell reordering, thus providing increased power saving in scan in operation. Experimental results for ISCAS'89 benchmark circuits show that average power of 96.7% and peak power of 84% are reduced on the average without fault coverage degrading. We have obtained a high reduction of 78.2% on the test data compared the existing compression methods.

This paper presents an EMQ model which determines an optimal production run length in a deteriorating machine. It is assumed that a machine is subject to a random deterioration from an in-control state to an out-of-control state with an arbitrary distribution and thus producing constant proportion of defective items. An average cost function and an optimal production run length are determined. A mistake in previous model is found and discussed. A mistake in previous model is found and discussed. Numerical experiments are carried out to see the behavior of the proposed model depending on the cost factors as well as machine parameters, and some interesting behaviors are observed.

This paper presents on EMQ model which determines an optimal production run length in a deteriorating machine. It is assumed that a machine is subject to a random deterioration from an in-control state to an out-of-control state with on arbitrary distribution and thus producing some proportion of defective items. An optimal production run length and a minimum average cost are derived in each of three deteriorating processes; constant, linearly increasing, and exponentially increasing. The model with repair cost is also analyzed. Several mistakes in previous research are found and discussed. Numerical experiments are carried out to see the behavior of the proposed model depending on the cost factors as well as machine parameters, and some interesting behaviors are observed.
New control charts under repetitive sampling are proposed, which can be used for variables and attributes quality characteristics. The proposed control charts have inner and outer control limits so that repetitive sampling may be needed if the plotted statistic falls between the two limits. Particularly, the new np and variable X-bar control charts under repetitive sampling are considered in detail. The in-control and out-of-control average run lengths are analyzed according to various process shifts. The performance of the proposed control charts is compared with the existing np and the X-bar control charts in terms of the average run lengths.

Many stochastic processes satisfy the Markov property exactly or at least approximately. An interested property in the Markov process is the first passage time. Since the sequential analysis by Wald, the approximation of the first passage time has been studied extensively. The Statistical computing technique due to the development of high-speed computers made it possible to calculate the values of the properties close to the true ones. This article introduces an exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart as an example of the Markov process, and studied how to calculate the average run length with problematic issues that should be cautioned for correct calculation. The results derived for approximation of the first passage time in this research can be applied to any of the Markov processes. Especially the approximation of the continuous time Markov process to the discrete time Markov chain is useful for the studies of the properties of the stochastic process and makes computational approaches easy.
This study was conducted to investigate the principles and motions for increasing the jumping height of Fosbury Flop. The subjects were three male jumpers who were former Korean national team players. Their jumping motions were analyzed using the DLT method of three-dimensional cinematography. The conclusions were as follows. 1. The horizontal velocity of approach run and decreasing of this velocity during the take off phase were increased as the jumping height was increased. Therefore, in order to increase the jumping height, the horizontal velocity of approachrun should be increased and decreased properly during the take-off phase. The average height of the analyzed Dials was 2.15m. The average horizontal velocity of approachrun was 7.49m/s and decreased to 4.16m/s at the instance of take-off. 2. The vertical velocity of the center of gravity was increased as the ascending height of the center of gravity during the take-off phase was increased. Therefore, the center of gravity at the instant of touch down should be lowered. This could be possible by increasing the length of the last stride and the backward lean angle of the body. The average length of the last stride was 111.1% of the standing height, the average height of the center of gravity was 46.6% of the standing height and the average backward lean angle of the body was 40.3 degrees.

A control chart is very useful in monitoring various production process. There are many situations in which the simultaneous control of two or more related quality variables is necessary. When the joint distribution of the process variables is multivariate normal, multivariate Shewhart control charts using the function of the maximum likelihood estimator for monitoring the dispersion matrix are considered for the simultaneous monitoring of the dispersion matrix. The performances of the multivariate Shewhart control charts based on the proposed control statistic are evaluated in term of average run length (ARL). The performance is investigated in three cases, where the variances, covariances, and variances and covariances are changed respectively. The numerical results show that the performances of the proposed multivariate Shewhart control charts are not better than the control charts using the trace of the covariance matrix in the Jeong and Cho (2012) in terms of the ARLs.
When we compare different control charting schemes, the average run length of each control chart is usually used. The use of the average run length implies that there is unbounded number of samples or observations. The regression recursive residuals, however, have been applied to the cumulative sum chart to detect whether the mean or variance changes. To implement choice of decision interval, we calculate the probability that certain fixed number of control statistics stay in the in-control state. This probability can be used as the significance level of a test for detecting the change in the residual mean or variance of the data with a finite number of observations.
