  • This paper proposes a novel active stereo matching technique using white auxiliary stripe pattern. The conventional active stereo matching techniques that uses two cameras and an active source such as projector can accurately estimate disparity information even in the areas with low texture compared to the passive ones. However, it is difficult that the conventional active stereo matching techniques using color code patterns acquire these patterns robustly if the object is composed of various colors or is exposed to complex lighting condition. To overcome this problem, the proposed method uses an additional white auxiliary stripe pattern to get and localize the color code patterns robustly. This paper proposes a process based on adaptive thresholding and thinning to obtain the auxiliary pattern accurately. Experimental results show that the proposed method more precisely measures the stepped sample whose depth is known in advance than the conventional method.

  • As the on-board electric devices determine the performances of vehicles, production of reliable devices is important. To keep the reliability of devices constant, management of performance evaluation of the on-board devices is crucial. Because temperature has a serious effect on failures of the components of the devices, its measurement is the first step for good management. In this study, we described performance characteristics of domestic auxiliary block developed through G7 project. We measured the performances of auxiliary block during test running by the developed on-line measurement system. After we save the input real-time data from each signal of Korean High Speed Train through the network line, we can acquire necessary information through post-processing program. We verify the motor block characteristics of Korean High Speed Train by this system.

  • In a conventional plasma display, the bus electrode was located on the ITO electrode at the outer part of each cell. We propose a new electrode configuration using vertical auxiliary electrodes which play a role of electrically connecting ITO and bus electrodes with the aim of enhancing discharge and luminous characteristics of the PDP (Plasma Display Panel). In this paper, luminance and luminous efficiency of the 3 in.-diagonal test panel are measured with various number of vertical auxiliary electrodes such as 2, 50 and 150. The change in the luminous characteristics is explained in connection with the discharge characteristics of the PDP cells such as current peak, IR emission peak and ICCD picture image.

  • We treat the problem of variance estimation for the estimator of population total, which is derived from the calibration estimation procedure corresponding to the levels of auxiliary information under nonresponse situation. We develop the calibrated variance estimation procedure using the fact that the population total and variance as well as the sample total and variance of the auxiliary variable are known. We show that the proposed variance estimation procedure improves the $Lundst\ddot{o}rm$ and $S\ddot{a}rndal's$ (1999) procedure with respect to the variance and nonresponse bias reduction through the simulation study.

  • This article addresses the problem of estimating a family of general population parameter ${\theta}_{({\alpha},{\beta})}$ using auxiliary information in the presence of measurement errors. The general results are then applied to estimate the coefficient of variation $C_Y$ of the study variable Y using the knowledge of the error variance ${\sigma}^2{_U}$ associated with the study variable Y, Based on large sample approximation, the optimal conditions are obtained and the situations are identified under which the proposed class of estimators would be better than conventional estimator. Application of the main result to bivariate normal population is illustrated.

  • New zero voltage switched(ZVS) converter in which main switch is switched at zero voltage is proposed. A resonant inductor of conventional ZVS PW converter is replaced to two small saturable inductors in order to reduce conduction loss of auxiliary switch. Therefore, the switching loss of main switch is very low, and conduction losses of the main and auxiliary switch are lowered. The ZVS and above characteristics are verified by experimental results for a 200 kHz operation.

  • This study presents the new dispatching rules of job shop scheduling with auxiliary resource constraint to improve the schedule performance measures related to completion time and due dates. The proposed dispatching rules consider the information of total work remaining and machine utilization to decrease mean flowtime and mean tardiness. The results of computer experiments show that those schedule performances are significantly improved by using the new dispatching rules. The results provide guidance for the researchers and practitioners of auxiliary resource constrained job shop scheduling to decrease mean flowtime and mean tardiness.

  • Reliability is an essential factor in a navigation system. Therefore, an integrity monitoring system is considered one of the most important parts in an avionic navigation system. A fault due to systematic malfunctioning definitely requires integrity reinforcement through systematic analysis. In this paper, we propose a method to detect faults of the GPS signal by using a distributed nonlinear filter based probability test. In order to detect faults, consistency is examined through a likelihood ratio between the main and auxiliary particle filters (PFs). Specifically, the main PF which includes all the measurements and the auxiliary PFs which only do partial measurements are used in the process of consistency testing. Through GPS measurement and the application of the autonomous integrity monitoring system, the current study illustrates the performance of the proposed fault detection algorithm.
