  • This study analyzed the relationship between the act on the guarantee of rights of and support for persons with developmental disabilities(Act for PWDD) and the similar ordinance of the local governments based on this law and focused on the correspondence(the rate of reflection) and the autonomy(differentiation). As of October 2017, 63 local government regulations and Act for PWDD were analyzed in this study. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, the rate of reflection in the ordinance of Act for PWDD was different according to the clause. In the aspect of emphasizing welfare support, the agreement between local ordinance and rate was high. While the Act for PWDD emphasized the rights of persons with developmental disabilities, there was little information about their right in the ordinance of local governments. This is evidence that current ordinance is based on the protective point of view for people with developmental disabilities. In the future, policy measures will be needed to ensure that respect for decision-making by persons with developmental disabilities and rights guarantees are included in the bylaws. Second, there is a provision that the rate of ordinance reflection is 0%, which may be guaranteed by other laws in the area, so it does not mean the absence of related system in the region, but there is possibility of institutional blind spot. In the future, consideration should be given to the complementarity of other legal systems in the area with developmental disabilities, so that persons with developmental disabilities should not be placed in institutional blind spots. Third, the autonomy(differentiation) of local ordinance was examined from the contents aspect and the administrative aspect to help practical implementation. The differentiation between the ordinances vary. Emphasizing the responsibilities of the head of the organization, emphasizing the fact-finding survey, setting up the welfare committee, or adding local needs were included to the ordinance. Local governments considering the enactment of ordinances in the future should refer to these cases and establish enactable local ordinances that take advantage of the characteristics of local autonomy.

  • The present study was intended to measure the level of fatigue symptoms among nurses working for a university hospital and to reveal its related factors. The self-administered questionnaires were given to 450 nurses during the period from October 1st to 31st, 2010. As a results, the level of fatigue symptoms were 75.1% in normal group, and the high-risk group 24.9%. The level of fatigue symptoms reflected in job stress contents were higher as job demand was higher, and the autonomy of job and the supervisor support was lower. In correlations, fatigue symptoms were found to be in a positive correlation with job demand, whereas in negative correlation with autonomy of job and supervisor support. The adjusted odds ratio of fatigue symptoms on job demand were significantly increased in the high risk group than in low group, but autonomy of job. were significantly decreased in the high risk group than in low group. In conclusion, the study results indicated that the level of fatigue symptoms is independently influenced by job stress contents.

  • Purpose: The purpose was to investigate the relations among job stress, depression, social support, and coping strategies of nurses. Method: The data were collected from 362 nurses. A self-administered questionnaire was used to assess general characteristics, job stress, depression, social support and coping strategies. Results: The prevalence of depression was 41.7%. Scores of job demand and insecurity, and organizational climate were very high. Logistic regressions showed that nurses, who were single, their 20s, had less than a career year, or working in private hospitals, associated with an increased risk of depression. The sub-scales of job stress except interpersonal conflict and lack of autonomy contributed to an increased risk of depression (lower group; OR=0.248, 95% CI:0.14-0.43). Also individual and organizational support and control coping strategies were associated with depression(lower group: OR=2.993, 95% CI: 2.11-6.30; OR=2.993, 95% CI: 1.51-5.65; OR=2.372, 95% CI=1.43-3.93). Conclusion: These findings indicated that the job stress, especially organizational climate, insecurity of job, lack of reward, individual and organizational support, and control coping strategies contributed to a risk of depression. In order to prevent the depression, the organizational support and strategies will be needed. The depression in specific context and organizational climate should be considered in future studies.

Thirty selected Q-statements received from 52 adults were classified into a shape of normal distribution using a 7 point scale. The collected data was analyzed using a QUANL pc program. Result: Four types of attitudes toward life sustaining treatment were identified. Type I is called one's autonomy type. Type II is called potentiality of resuscitation type. Type III is called DNR (Do not resuscitation) type. Type IV is calledone's effort type. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that different approaches of life support care programs are recommended based on the four types of life sustaining treatment attitudes among Korean adults.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing the well-being of middle-aged non-shift female workers using health-determinant models. Methods: This study analyzed data from the fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey (KWCS), involving 5,449 participants. A hierarchical multiple regression analysis was employed to examine the relationships between various factors and well-being. Results: The analysis identified key factors affecting well-being in middle-aged female non-shift workers, including supervisor support, presenteeism, satisfaction with the working environment, autonomy in working hours, support from coworkers, workplace discrimination, occupation, work-life balance, sleep problems, workplace size, weekly work hours, and sickness absence. This study confirms that the well-being of middle-aged non-shift female workers is influenced by factors at the individual, social, and community levels as well as by conditions related to love. Conclusion: To enhance the well-being of middle-aged female non-shift workers, it is essential to reinforce positive factors such as support from coworkers and superiors. Additionally, addressing and mitigating negatively influencing factors such as workplace discrimination and sleep problems is crucial in promoting well-being. By implementing measures to improve these aspects, organizations and policymakers can contribute to a healthier and more supportive work environment for middle-aged, non-shift female workers.

  • Recently, two main changes were observed in relation to activities of District Health Centers. One is the rapid increase in the quantity and variety of people's demands for health services due to improvement of income level and the other is an introduction of autonomy in local administration. Unitl recently, the District Health Services were mostly depended on the instructions and orders given by Central Governments, and it would be necessary to prepare for the future implementation of autonomous local administration. Especially, the urban health centers may need more attention than those in rural areas because of their complexity and it would be more difficult in choosing and implementing a most suitable health programs for urban communities. This study was made to find out a feasibl developmental model which could be applicable for the urban bealth centers in Kyeongnam- do area. The most studies relating to health centers activities in the past were made by saking questions to current health center workers, but this study has made an effort to find out the opinions of those who are representing the people in the community. For this study, therefore, the Members of Gity Parliament and Village Headmen from 10 cities is Kyeongnam- do were interviewed for the study and the results obtained were compared to those of health officers. It was found that both Parliament Members and Village Headmen were well aware of the need of health centers, however, they tend to put lower priority for health services in compare with other community activities, and pointed out poor quality of services and lack of public understanding as the problems to be overcome. As to the desirable body for policy decision and implementation of health programs, the Members of Local Parliament think the Local Parliament as ideal, where as Village Headmen prefer health experts, and health officenr prefer District Health Center respectively. The most urgent problems of the District health Centers are mentioned as lack of health manpower. As the results of his study, the followings are suggested for improvement of District Health Services; First : reinforcement of professional health workers, Second : establishment of Community Health Council, Third : strengthening of public health education and support, Fourth : flexibility in Local Autonomy and target system relating to health activities.
