Design of Intelligent Robot Vision System for Automatic Inspection of Steam Generator of Nuclear Plant (원자력 발전소 스팀제너레이터의 자동검사를 위한 지능형 로봇 비젼 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose anew approach to the development of the automatic vision system to examine and repair the steam generator tubes at remote distance. In nuclear power plants, workers are reluctant of works in steam generator because of the high radiation environment and limited working space. It is strongly recommended that the examination and maintenance works be done by an automatic system for the protection of the operator from the radiation exposure. Digital signal processors are used in implementing real time recognition and examination of steam generator tubes in the proposed vision system. Performance of proposed digital vision system is illustrated by simulation and experiment for similar steam generator model.

  • The automatic/driverless operation which are great important techniques in metro railway are required to increase higher safety, greater reliability, and transport capacity. To satisfy such demands, we must have the system design iかd testing technique for the railway system operation. These techniques are related to the onboard train control and communication systems which include TCMS(Train Control md Monitoring System), ATO(Automatic train Operation), ATC(Automatic train Control), and TWC(Train to wayside communication). These sub-systems must be interfacing with not only each others but also the signal system on the ground. We tested the train control system on Test line that has been developed on the basis of the standardized type EMU for korea railway systems. This test line which is located in Sangju, have been constructed for testing 7 & 8 line of Seoul Metro railway.

  • An automatic transfer line consists of several stages(groups of stations) in series into one system by a common transfer mechanism and a common control system. In this system losses of the efficiency are evidenced in periods where a stage is forcod down- starved or blocked. The efficiency of an automatic transfer line can be improved by providing buffer storages between a stage or the length of line common senses there are several critical factors, system configurations relative position, and buffer capacity allocations in automatic transfer line are considered with a point of view production rates, average stock, and mean delay. The propose of this paper is to provide the robust designs by Taguchi method which improve the efficiency of four-stage transfer line.

  • Service identification and composition is one of the key characteristics for a successful Service-Oriented Computing, being receiving a lot of attention from researchers in recent years. In the Service-Oriented Analysis, the identification of business services has to be preceded before application services are identified. Most approaches addressing the derivation of business services are based on heuristic methods and human experts. The manual identification of business services is highly expensive and ambiguous task, and it may result in the service design with bad quality because of errors and misconception. Although a few of approaches of automatic service identification are proposed, most of them are in focus on technical architectures and application services. In this paper, we propose a model on the automatic identification of business services by horizontal and vertical service alignment using Enterprise Architecture as an ontology. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed model of business services identification through a case study based on Department of Defense Enterprise Architecture.

  • This paper is concerned with applicability of a new type of controllers, called i-PID and GPI in which unknown parts of the plant are taken into account without any modeling procedure, to automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system. First, the procedure for applying i-PID and GPI algorithms to AVR system is proposed, which uses model reduction technique based on the given information of AVR. Second, simulations are given to verify their effectiveness comparing to various PID algorithms including PIDD2 which is four-term controller, that is, consisting of PID and second order derivative terms. Superior response performances of i-PID and GPI in comparison to conventional PID controllers are shown. Moreover, i-PID can highly improve the system robustness with respect to model uncertainties, especially to load variations.

  • As functional requirements of automatic office machines like printers, ATMs, copying machines are on a trend for the higher speed and precision, extensive technical advances are being developed and implemented in the industry. Media transport system is a device to convey a sheet of paper in ATMs and printers. The stability of media transport system is a matter of concern as their operating throughput rapidly increases. And defects of belts or rollers in a transport system directly affect the level of stability of the system. Therefore an automatic diagnostic system for predicting various defects is necessary for the stable operation of the media transport system. A simulation based on multi-body dynamics has been done for a feasibility study of a system design for the defect anticipation.

  • The welding technology has been used in almost all industries such as automotive, shipbuilding, power plants and industrial machinery. In this study, the design and implementation of PLC $CO_2$ welding automation system were investigated. For these purposes, the structure analysis for driving supporter was performed and specification of automatic voltage regulator, mutual interface of system and circuit diagram were designed in order to contrive power-saving system. As the results, the stability of design for driving supporter could be convinced by numerical analysis and PLC automatic welding system was suitable for welding automation of structural-manufacturing factory capable of producing various and small amount products. Therefore, it was confirmed that PLC $CO_2$ welding automation system could contribute to productivity, stable quality and power-saving.

  • In the machine tool spindle, various tasks ranging from roughing to finishing must be possible, and the functions of constant speed movement or rotation positioning must be performed. Therefore, there are many variables to be considered in the spindle design. The Swiss Turn Type spindle automatic lathe is a good machine tool for working pins with thinner shafts than a fixed automatic lathe. The Swiss Turn Type spindle is mainly used for precision machining of small products, so the machining precision should be high. The maximum outer diameter limit shall be Ø32 and the inner diameter limit shall be Ø6. In this study, the static and dynamic characteristics of the SCM440 material used in the spindle type automatic lathe were analyzed by applying it to the Swiss turn type spindle automatic lathe. Numerical analysis was used to obtain optimal design technique with high speed and high accuracy considering the factors affecting the static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle.

  • Modem version of supersonic jet fighter aircraft must have been guaranteed appropriate controllability and stability in HAoA(High Angle of Attack). Limit value of aircraft entering into the departure in HAoA is related to aircraft configuration design. But, the control law such as AoA and yaw-rate limiter is implemented in digital Fly-By-Wire flight control system of supersonic jet fighter to guarantee the aircraft's safety in HAoA. The HAoA flight control law have two parts, one is control law of departure prevention and the other is control law of departure recovery support. The control laws of departure prevention for advanced jet trainer consist AoA limiter, roll command limiter and rudder fader. The control laws of departure recovery support are consist yaw-rate limiter and MPO(Manual Pitch Override) mode. The guideline of pitch rocking using MPO mode is simple, but operating skill of pitch rocking is very difficult by the pilot with inexperience of departure situation. This paper addresses the design and validation of APR(Automatic Pitch Rocker) control law instead of MPO in order to automatic recovery without manual pitch rocking by the pilot. And, recovery characteristic with APR verifies by the nonlinear analysis and pilot evaluation.

Automatic Map Generation without an Isolated Cave Using Cell Automata Enhanced by Binary Space Partitioning (이진 공간 분할로 보강된 셀 오토마타를 이용한 고립 동굴 없는 맵 자동 생성)

  • Many researchers have paid attention to contents generation within the area of game artificial intelligence these days with various reasons. Efforts on automatic contents generation without game level designers' help were continuously progressed in various game contents. This study suggests an automatic map generation without an isolated cave using cellular automation enhanced by binary space partitioning(BSP). In other words, BSP makes it possible to specify the number of desired area and cellular automation reduces the time to search a path. Based upon our preliminary simulation results, we show the usefulness of our automatic map generation by applying the contents generation using cell automation, which is enhanced by BSP to games.
