For efficient storage and retrieval of large video data sets, automatic video scene change detection is a necessary tool. Video scene changes fall into two categories, namely fast and gradual scene changes. The gradual scene change effects include, dissolves, wipes, fades, etc. Although currently existing algorithms are able to detect fast scene changes quite accurately, the detection of gradual scene changes continue to remain a difficult problem. In this paper, among various gradual scene changes, we focus on dissolves. The algorithm uses a subset of the entire video, namely the sequence of DC images, for improvement of detection velocity
We present an effective algorithm for automatic tracing of retinal vessel structure and vascular landmark extraction of bifurcations and ending points. In this paper we deal with vascular patterns from RGB images for personal identification. Vessel tracing algorithms are of interest in a variety of biometric and medical application such as personal identification, biometrics, and ophthalmic disorders like vessel change detection. However eye surface vasculature tracing in RGB images has many problems which are subject to improper illumination, glare, fade-out, shadow and artifacts arising from reflection, refraction, and dispersion. The proposed algorithm on vascular tracing employs multi-stage processing of ten-layers as followings: Image Acquisition, Image Enhancement by gray scale retinal image enhancement, reducing background artifact and illuminations and removing interlacing minute characteristics of vessels, Vascular Structure Extraction by connecting broken vessels, extracting vascular structure using eight directional information, and extracting retinal vascular structure, and Vascular Landmark Extraction by extracting bifurcations and ending points. The results of automatic retinal vessel extraction using jive different thresholds applied 34 eye images are presented. The results of vasculature tracing algorithm shows that the suggested algorithm can obtain not only robust and accurate vessel tracing but also vascular landmarks according to thresholds.
Recent developments in robotics and intelligent vehicle area, bring interests of people in an autonomous driving ability and advanced driving assistance system. Especially fully automatic parking ability is one of the key issues of intelligent vehicles, and accurate parked vehicles detection is essential for this issue. In previous researches, many types of sensors are used for detecting vehicles, 2D LiDAR is popular since it offers accurate range information without preprocessing. The L shape feature is most popular 2D feature for vehicle detection, however it has an ambiguity on different objects such as building, bushes and this occurs misdetection problem. Therefore we propose the accurate vehicle detection method by using a 3D complete vehicle model in 3D point clouds acquired from front inclined 2D LiDAR. The proposed method is decomposed into two steps: vehicle candidate extraction, vehicle detection. By combination of L shape feature and point clouds segmentation, we extract the objects which are highly related to vehicles and apply 3D model to detect vehicles accurately. The method guarantees high detection performance and gives plentiful information for autonomous parking. To evaluate the method, we use various parking situation in complex urban scene data. Experimental results shows the qualitative and quantitative performance efficiently.

The change detection using the satellite imagery and airphotos has been carried out in the application of terrain mapping, environment, forestry, facility detection, etc. The low-spatial resolution data such as Landsat, NOAA satellite images is generally used for automatic change detection, while on the other hand the high-spatial resolution data is used for change detection by image interpretation. The research to integrate automatic method with manual change detection through the high-spatial resolution satellite image is performed. but the problem such as shadow, building 'lean' due to perspective geometry and precision geocorrection was found. In this paper we performed change detection using the IKONOS satellite images, and present the concerning problem.

An unexpected event could be easily followed by a large secondary accident due to the limitation in sight of drivers in road tunnels. Therefore, a series of automated incident detection systems have been under operation, which, however, appear in very low detection rates due to very low image qualities on CCTVs in tunnels. In order to overcome that limit, deep learning based tunnel incident detection system was developed, which already showed high detection rates in November of 2017. However, since the object detection process could deal with only still images, moving direction and speed of moving vehicles could not be identified. Furthermore it was hard to detect stopping and reverse the status of moving vehicles. Therefore, apart from the object detection, an object tracking method has been introduced and combined with the detection algorithm to track the moving vehicles. Also, stopping-reverse discrimination algorithm was proposed, thereby implementing into the combined incident detection processes. Each performance on detection of stopping, reverse driving and fire incident state were evaluated with showing 100% detection rate. But the detection for 'person' object appears relatively low success rate to 78.5%. Nevertheless, it is believed that the enlarged richness of image big-data could dramatically enhance the detection capacity of the automatic incident detection system.

In order to prevent the corrosion of component contacted primary water designed alloy 600 material in the nuclear power plant. But the primary water stress corrosion cracking(PWSCC) of alloy 600 and weld area occurs continuously due to the residual stress. The leakage accident resulted from PWSCC in the drain nozzle of the steam generator of domestic power plants. Heater sleeves of the pressurizer are welded with alloy 600 weld material and therefore exposed to the primary water environment. PWSCC occurred in heater sleeve material and weld area of many foreign power plants. The current issue of domestic nuclear power plants are consequently concentrated to PWSCC of similar material. In order to improve the detection and the sizing of the PWSCC in the welding sleeve of the pressurizer, the automatic UT system and multi-directions probe sets have been developed. The experimental studies have been performed using the mock-up block containing artificial reflectors(ID connected EDM notch) and semi-artificial cracks made from thermal fatigue. The automatic UT System is applied in the detection and the length sizing of the ID/OD on the tube and the J-groove weld area of the artificial reflectors and results of the detection and the sizing are compared respectively. Also, the developed automatic UT system is successfully accomplished to inspect the heater sleeve and the J-groove weld area on the pressurizer for the detection of PWSCC.

The study on the temporal and spatial monitoring of passing vessels is important in terms of protection and management the marine ecosystem in the coastal area. In this paper, we propose the automatic detection technique of passing vessel by utilizing an artificial intelligence technology and broadband striation patterns which are characteristic of broadband noise radiated by passing vessel. Acoustic measurements to collect underwater noise spectrum images and ship navigation information were conducted in the southern region of Jeju Island in South Korea for 12 days (2016.07.15-07.26). And the convolution neural network model is optimized through learning and validation processes based on the collected images. The automatic detection performance of passing vessel is evaluated by precision (0.936), recall (0.830), average precision (0.824), and accuracy (0.949). In conclusion, the possibility of the automatic detection technique of passing vessel is confirmed by using an artificial intelligence technology, and a future study is proposed from the results of this study.

This paper proposes a method of detecting object of interest(OOI) in general natural images. OOI is subjectively estimated by human in images. The vision of human, in general, might focus on OOI. As the first step for automatic detection of OOI, candidate regions of OOI are detected by using a saliency map based on the human visual perception. A saliency map locates an approximate OOI, but there is a problem that they are not accurately segmented. In order to address this problem, in the second step, an exact object region is automatically detected by combining graph-based image segmentation and skeletonization. In this paper, we calculate the precision, recall and accuracy to compare the performance of the proposed method to existing methods. In experimental results, the proposed method has achieved better performance than existing methods by reducing the problems such as under detection and over detection.
FOD refers to various metals and non-metallic foreign substances that pose a risk to aircraft. FODs occur in all areas and time zones, including runways, taxiways, and maintenance facilities, and pose a fatal hazard to aircraft safety during aircraft movements and take-off and landing. Rapid and effective detection and removal of FODs in the runway is required. As part of recent developments in aviation safety technologies, automatic detection of debris in runways in airports is under way. In this paper, we conducted an automated detection test using the EO/IR camera and radar at the Taean campus of Hansu University to confirm normal detection during the day and night.
This paper presents a new algorithm that extracted lung region in X-ray and enhanced the region. With a lung region that was extracted by histogram threshold value, it was diffi cult to detect perfect lung boundary. Therefore we presented perfect lung boundary detection method using apex detection and apex region restoration. Also, by applying modified equalization algorithm and presented function to inside of lung region, we want to give help to automatic diagnosis In X-ray chest image. Presented main line trace algorithm gave good result in detection of lung boundary And, as apex detection method using lung row and column gray level average value found more correct place of lung than the rpethod of prior algorithm, we succeeded perfect lung region detection, Also, presented function that had lung region's gray level distribution characteristic was very effective to image enhancement.
