This paper describes a computer aided design system for spur and helical gears. To establish the appropriate program, an integrate approach based on a rule-base system was adopted. This system is implemented on the personal computer and its environment is a commercial CAD package called AutoCAD. This system includes a main program and five sub-modules such as data input module, tooth profile drawing module, strength calculation module, and drawing edit module. In the main program, all the sub-modules are loaded and the type of gear and tooth profile are selected. In the data input module, the variables which are necessary to the design of gear are selected from the database. In the drawing module, from the calculated results, the required gear tooth is produced on the screen. The developed system that aids gear designer provides powerful capabilities for gear design.
This study aimed to find genetic markers for breed-independent identification of early- and late-feathering chickens. We explored the novel sequences of the ev21-K locus associated with late-feathering and investigated its characterization. Additionally, the genetic transmission pattern of the identified sequences were investigated to understand its potential application in auto-sexing lines. A total of 707 chickens from 5 chicken breeds were employed for the study. The ev21-K locus was identified through a comparative analysis of the ev21 gene and the K gene related to feather development. For analysis of identified loci, specific primers for the target sequences were prepared and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed to obtain the products, and then their nucleotide sequences were analyzed. Crossbreeding tests of early-feathering and late-feathering chickens were conducted to examine the genetic transmission patterns of the identified sequences. The results showed that the identified 230 bp ev21-K locus, which named as ev21-related K specific sequences were 99% homology with the ev21 gene. PCR analysis confirmed its presence exclusively in late-feathering chickens. Comparative analyses across tissues, breeds, and ages demonstrated the sequences consistency in identifying late-feathering chickens. Genetic transmission patterns were investigated through crossbreeding tests, revealing sex-linked inheritance and consistent segregation with feathering phenotypes. The inheritance patterns of the ev21-related K specific sequences demonstrated that this locus follows the typical Mendelian inheritance pattern as a dominant gene. In conclusion, the novel sequences of ev21-K locus were a reliable molecular marker for identifying early- and late-feathering chickens across breeds.
This study was carried out to find out the effects of the sheaf size of paddy harvested by the binders on the threshing performance, load characteristics and power requirement of an auto-feed thresher. The results of the study are summarized as follows: 1. The seperating performance of the thresher appeared to be satisfactory for all the sheaf sizes although the amount of rubbishes and empty grains slightly increased with the sheaf size of paddy. 2. There was no significant difference in grain output quality of the thresher among the three sheaf sizes. However, the amount of grains left unthreshed increased with the sheaf size. In the case of the largest sheaf size with the feed rate of 780kg/h, it exceeded the limit set by the national inspection regulations. 3. The position of the feed-chain rail gave a significant effect on the power requirement of the thresher. At the feed rate of 780kg/h, the net power required to convey sheafs through the feed chain was in the range of 0.37 to 0.50 PS for the middle and lowest position of feed-chain rail, and there was no significant difference among the sheaf sizes. At the highest position, however, it appeared that the smallest sheaf required more power than the others. The net power requirements at this position were 1.03, 0.59. 0.65 PS for the smallest, medium and largest sheafs respectively. 4. The torques of both the thresher and the engine shaft increased with the feed rate and were not affected by the sheaf size for the lower two feed rates of 520 and 780kg/h. At the highest feed rate of 1,040 kg/h, however, they were affected by the sheaf size. In this case, the medium sheaf size gave lower values than the others. 5. The variations in the thresher and the engine torque increased with the feed rate and were not affected by the sheaf size for the feed rate of 520kg/h. At the feed rate of 780kg/h, however, they increased with sheaf size. And at the feed rate of 1,040 kg/h, the torque variations increased greatly for all the sheaf sizes due to an over-load operating condition. 6. It appeared that the average and maximum power requirements of the thresher increased with the feed rate. But, there was no significant difference in power requirement among the sheaf sizes for the lower two feed rates. 7. The threshing efficiency of the thresher was in the range of 214-249 kg/ps.h with the feed rates of 520 and 780 kg/h, and it was not affected by both the sheaf size and the feed rate. At the feed rate of 1,040 kg/h, however, it decreased to as low as 171-174 kg/ps.h because of a sudden increase in power requirement. 8. The average power requirements of the engine were slightly higher than those of the thresher due to the slippage of flat belt between the thresher and engine. It appeared that power transmission from the engine to the thresher was maintained properly since slippages were moderately low with the range of 2.78 to 6.51% throughout the tests. 9. The specific fuel consumption of the engine (diesel 8PS) decreased as the feed rate increased. However, there was no significant reduction in specific fuel consumption as the feed rate increased above 780 kg/h.
Vehicular electronic communication system has continued to develop in favor of high performance and user convenience with the evolution of auto industry. Yet, due to the nature of communication system, concerns over intruder attacks in transmission sections have been raised with a need for safe and secure communication being valued. Any successful intruder attacks on vehicular operation and control systems as well as on visual equipment could result in serious safety and privacy problems. Thus, research has focused on hardware-based security and secure communication protocols. This paper proposed a safe and secure vehicular communication protocol, used the formal verification tool, Casper/FDR to test the security of the proposed protocol against different types of intruder attacks, and verified that the proposed protocol was secure and ended without problems.

Power dissipation during scan testing is becoming an important concern as design sizes and gate densities increase. The high switching activity of combinational circuits is an unnecessary operation in scan shift mode. In this paper, we present a novel architecture to reduce test power dissipation in combinational logic by blocking signal transitions at the logic inputs during scan shifting. We propose a unique architecture that uses dmuxed scan flip-flop (DSF) and transmission gate as an alternative to muxed scan flip-flop. The proposed method does not have problems with auto test pattern generation (ATPG) techniques such as test application time and computational complexity. Moreover, our elegant method improves performance degradation and large overhead in terms of area with blocking logic techniques. Experimental results on ITC99 benchmarks show that the proposed architecture can achieve an average improvement of 30.31% in switching activity compared to conventional scan methods. Additionally, the results of simulation with DSF indicate that the powerdelay product (PDP) and area overhead are improved by 28.9% and 15.6%, respectively, compared to existing blocking logic method.

A bio-inspired two-mode structural health monitoring (SHM) system based on the Na$\ddot{i}$ve Bayes (NB) classification method is discussed in this paper. To implement the molecular biology based Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) array concept in structural health monitoring, which has been demonstrated to be superior in disease detection, two types of array expression data have been proposed for the development of the SHM algorithm. For the micro-vibration mode, a two-tier auto-regression with exogenous (AR-ARX) process is used to extract the expression array from the recorded structural time history while an ARX process is applied for the analysis of the earthquake mode. The health condition of the structure is then determined using the NB classification method. In addition, the union concept in probability is used to improve the accuracy of the system. To verify the performance and reliability of the SHM algorithm, a downscaled eight-storey steel building located at the shaking table of the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE) was used as the benchmark structure. The structural response from different damage levels and locations was collected and incorporated in the database to aid the structural health monitoring process. Preliminary verification has demonstrated that the structure health condition can be precisely detected by the proposed algorithm. To implement the developed SHM system in a practical application, a SHM prototype consisting of the input sensing module, the transmission module, and the SHM platform was developed. The vibration data were first measured by the deployed sensor, and subsequently the SHM mode corresponding to the desired excitation is chosen automatically to quickly evaluate the health condition of the structure. Test results from the ambient vibration and shaking table test showed that the condition and location of the benchmark structure damage can be successfully detected by the proposed SHM prototype system, and the information is instantaneously transmitted to a remote server to facilitate real-time monitoring. Implementing the bio-inspired two-mode SHM practically has been successfully demonstrated.

Power system engineers use power systems solution programs such as PSS/E, DSATool, Power World simulators for power system analysis. In this reason, KEPCO has begun to develop independent power system program, KW-PSS(KEPCO World Power system Solution) since 2002 and KW-PSS ver2.0 development was completed in 2011. However, it did not have much better functions compared with other programs. Therefore, we focused on the development of the practical and specialized functions. Consequently, PAZ(Power system AnalyZer) ver3.0 has been developed and it realized a differentiation than previous version. In other words, previous version focused on the basic function of power system analysis, PAZ ver3.0 has implemented many automated functions for power system operators were driven maximize operational efficiency. The unique feature of the implementation is as follows : Automated check for exceeding the breaker capacity, Scheduled outage automation, Control-file wizard for various voltage stability analysis, Scenario-based multiple transient stability analysis and Auto calculation of transmission line impedance. As shown in these functions, Those functions provide to use power system analysis easily by automation and simplification for power system engineers. We will secure national expertise through PAZ ver3.0. In addition it will be able to gain competitive edge through the steady development in the world market.
In this paper, we propose a carrier frequency offset estimation method for single-carrier MIMO systems. In the proposed method, phase rotated PN (Pseudo-Noise) sequences are transmitted to prevent a cancelling out of partial PN sequences. After removing a modulation of received PN sequences by multiplying of complex conjugated PN Sequences which are locally generated in receiver, a CFO (Carrier Frequency Offset) is accurately estimated by employing L&R method which is a kind of ML (Maximum Likelihood) estimation algorithm and uses multiple auto-correlatos. In addition, the frequency offset estimation scheme by using channel state information is proposed for accurate CFO estimation in time-varying Rayleigh channel. By performing computer simulations, MSE (Mean Square Error) performance of proposed method is almost same as MSE performance of SISO systems in AWGN channel. Moreover, MSE Performance of proposed method with using channel information is higher than MSE performances of SISO system and conventional method in time-varying Rayleigh channel.
The auto industry has significantly evolved to the extent that much attention is paid to M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication. In M2M communication which was first used in meteorology, environment, logistics, national defense, agriculture and stockbreeding, devices automatically communicate and operate in accordance with varying situations. M2M system is applied to vehicles, specifically to device-to-device communication inside cars, vehicle-to-vehicle communication, communication between vehicles and traffic facilities and that between vehicles and surroundings. However, communication systems are characterized by potential intruders' attacks in transmission sections, which may cause serious safety problems if vehicles' operating system, control system and engine control parts are attacked. Thus, device-to-device secure communication has been actively researched. With a view to secure communication between vehicular devices, the present study drew on hash functions and complex mathematical formulae to design a protocol, which was then tested with Casper/FDR, a tool for formal verification of protocols. In brief, the proposed protocol proved to operate safely against a range of attacks and be effective in practical application.

The National Competency Standards (NCS) was designed to implement a competence-based society and solve the problem of inconsistency between the industrial field and education, training, and certification system. This study designed and developed the Korean NCS core vocational competence system, in accordance with the NCS, as an infrastructure to solve fundamental problems such as re-education and the social costs that are incurred in the workplace. Further, this study designed and developed standard indicators to evaluate the technical performance of the system for the global advancement of the Korean NCS core vocational competence system. The NCS core vocational competence system has been developed as an appropriate response type for multiple devices such as computers, tablet PCs, and cellular phones. For the global advancement of the Korean NCS core vocational competence system, this study designed and developed 10 performance evaluation indicators in accordance with 10 global standards, such as linkage-target operating system, interface protocol, packet format, encryption, class component, simultaneous access number, supervisor-to-testtaker response speed, server-to-admin response speed, auto-recovery speed for test answers, and real-time answer transmission speed.
