  • This paper presents the implementation of the bluetooth headset and the audio gateway connected to the mobile Phone in the embedded environment. The bluetooth module includes the BC02 processor chip, the BCSP02 firmware and the bluelab software Including bluetooth protocol stack. The above components in the bluetooth module developed at CSR company are used as the development environment. The application program using API functions supported by bluelab is coded by C language and loaded on the flash ROM of the bluetooth module. The cail processing capacity measuring the call setup time and the clearing time between the audio gateway and the headset is considered as the performance parameter of the developed systems. As a call setup and clearing time between the audio gateway and the headset is about 88.8ms, the call processing capacity is about 11 calls per second. Therefore the performance result is satisfied in the aspect of the call processing time.

  • In this paper, we describe implementation of personal media gateway (PMG) for applications over BcN networks. PMG is a TV based set-top terminal, which enables transmission of Full D1 high quality video and audio at the speed of maximum 2Mbps. It supports SIP protocol and QoS for the BcN networks. The hardware of the PMG consists of host module, audio/video codec processing module, DTMF module, and remote control I/O module. H.263 and MPEG4 software are implemented in DSP as codec for hi-directional communication and streaming, respectively. G.711 and Ogg-Vorbis are implemented as audio codec. We examined the quality of video using the Video Quality Test Equpment, which was developed by KT Convergence Lab. The experimental results show the video quality of MOS 4.1 and audio quality of MOS 4.3. We expect that PMG will be prospective business models, and create new customer value.

  • In this parer, a novel architecture for Home gateway is Proposed. In home network system, there exist many different kinds of data types, like audio, video, and control information. And the communication is over multiple networks, like bluetooth, wireless LAN, USB, IEEE1394, and Power Line Communication (PLC). The hardware architecture of the Home gateway presented in this paper is based on ISO/1EC JTC 1/sc 2S/WG 1(1,2). The architecture proposed in this paper takes into account the characteristics of home network environment, so the Packets in the home network system can be processed very efficiently.

  • This paper describes a gateway system based on a MOST network for integrating several different automotive network protocols. For transparent data communication among different protocols regardless of the high-level messages and the data format, Pseudo MOST frame was designed based on MOST frame and this pseudo MOST data frame is used as the data carrier. For automotive application, two types of gateways were developed, one board-type gateway and small-sized module-type gateways. One board-type gateway has ethernet port, video port and audio port. Meanwhile, small-sized module-type gateways are developed for video, audio, bluetooth and Flexray, respectively. Experiments with a network system using several small-sized module gateways verified efficient data communication among different network protocols and confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed gateway system for automotive network integration.

  • 컴퓨터 영상 화면을 아날로그 음성영상신호로 변환한 후 무선으로 송신하여 처리하기 때문에 해상도가 낮아 화질이 떨어진다. 또한 대형프로젝션TV에 보낼 영상화면의 단말기 RGB포트에 게이트웨이를 직접 연결해야 하는 불편이 따른다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 이 논문에서는 IEEE802.11b/g 무선네트워크 기반에서 대용량 영상데이터를 최대 54Mbps의 속도로 송수신할 수 있는 무선통신시스템 개발과 이를 게이트웨이에 적용하여 영상데이터까지 무선으로 처리할 수 있도록 하는 장치를 개발하고, 대용량 영상데이터 송수신 처리 소프트웨어를 개발한다.

  • Today, although most bluetooth hands-free devices within a vehicle provide telephone service functions such as voice communication, caller id display and SMS message display and so on, they do not provide a function that displays Internet-based text data. We need to develop a scheme that displays the internet-based text data including existing hands-free function because the request for using the Internet service is increasing within a vehicle recently. The proposed bluetooth device application includes advanced function such as SNS message arrival notification, the message display function and we chose Android as the implementation mobile platform giving consideration to the fact that most SNS applications operate on Android and the platform is easily embedded into small embedded device. Smartphone or tablet PC connected with the proposed bluetooth device is an Android-based device and we designed a form of Android app for the function implementation of the devices. When the audio-text gateway app receives SNS text data, it extracts title and sender information from the message header information in a form of text data and sends them via ACL (Asynchronous Connection-Oriented) link to the bluetooth device showing the data on the screen. Android-based bluetooth devices are not possible to play voice through speaker because the bluetooth hands-free or headset profile ported within Android platform normally only includes audio gateway's function. The proposed bluetooth device application, therefore, applies the streaming scheme that sends data via ACL link instead of the way that sending them via SCO (Synchronous Connection-Oriented) link.

  • To support multimedia services between network domains with different environments, it is required to map the functionalities in many aspects. In this paper, we implemented interworking gateway which provides protocol conversion and QoS(Quality of Service) adaptation to interwork DAVIC services based on ATM(Asynchronous TRansfer Model )network and Internet AV services. The interworking gateway converts RTSP(Real-Time Streaming Protocol ) message into DSM-CC(Digital Storage Media Command & Control) messages to control the stream that is served in ATM network, and transmits data stream by using RTP(Real-Time Transport Protocol) The interworking gateway provides QoS adaptation functionalities by QoS monitoring and MPEG filtering to meet the variation of network bandwidth.

  • A video-conference system is being utilized in web based application services in various fields due to the widespread use of Internet and the progress of computer technologies. This system should use the public IP address for sharing file and white board and it is difficult to manage the internal network users of the firewall and non-public IP address users. In this paper, we propose an Application Level Gateway which transforms non-public IP address into public IP address. This mechanism is for the internal network users of the firewall or non-public IP address users over the Internet. We also propose a Control Daemon which manages video and audio media dynamically according to network bandwidth. This mechanism can start and terminate a video conference and manage the process of the video conference.

  • Service platform which can offer various multimedia communication as the video, audio, voice and data is IMS(IP Multi-Media Subsystem). It is effective in the company is introducing only such convergence IMS services to be required to provide various multimedia services at the lowest cost and existing communication environment while keeping the maximum Therefore, in this study, we had developed IMS 코어 main system that not more than 1,000 employees of companies can effectively establish IMS solutions. This system is located at the middle between IMS terminal and CSCF(Call Session Control Function) in line with IMS services and provides CSCF in response to the IMS terminal and IMS terminal in response to the CSCF. As well, corded telephone and SIP phone which were used as terminal is linked with gateway.

  • This paper describes an assistant system for elders who live alone. The developed system is composed of a wearable RFID system, a gateway system, and server system. The wearable RFID system is installed in glove. The wearable RFID system can be considered as a wireless sensor network which has a sink node and sensor node with a RFID reader. The sensor node can read RFID tags on the various objects used in daily living such as furniture, medicines, sugar and salt bottles, and ok. The sensor node transmits wireless packets to the sink node. The sink node sends the received packet immediately to a server system via a gateway system. The gateway provides users with audio-visual information of objects. The server system is composed of a database server and a web server. The data from each wearable RFID system is collected into a database, and then the data are processed to visualize the measurement of daily living activities of users. The processed data can be provided for someone who wants to know about user's daily living patterns in house such as family, caregivers, and medical crew.
