  • This paper presents a procedure to design a real time control system for a magnetic levitation system based on the state space approach by adopting a control method compensating attractive force according to load variation of maglev vehicle. Also the paper has realized a robust control algorithm for the change of self-inductance parameters and the disturbance such as the change of mass of Maglev vehicles. The theoretical results are applied to the gap control problems of an attractive-type-magnetic levitation system and the effectiveness is proved by the implementation of digital control using 16 bits microcomputer.

  • To cope with stringent performance targets requested in many fields spanning the whole range of industry, the driver is necessary to realize large dynamic range as well as nano resolution, manipulate the mover orientation without additional driver, and be suitable for clean environment. As one of those purposes, authors have developed the planar precision stages with the integrated operating principle of levitation and propel. In this paper, we discuss potential of magnetic suspension technology by comparing various features of non-contact planar stages, that is, repulsive type of surface actuator and attractive type of surface actuator.

  • An axial electromagnetic levitation system using attractive force is a highly nonlinear system due to the nonlinearity of materials, variable air gap and flux density. To control the levitating system with large air gap, a conventional PID control based on the linear model is not satisfactory to obtain the desired performance and the position tracking control of the sinusoidal motion by simulation results. Thus, sliding mode control(SMC) based on the input-output linearization is suggested and evaluated by simulation and experimental approaches. Usefulness of the SMC to this system is conformed experimentally. If the expected variation of added mass can be included in the gain conditions and the model, the position control performance of the electromagnetic levitation system with large air gap will be improved with robustness.

  • Most magnetic bearings are based on the attractive force between the magnets and ferrous materials. One of the disadvantages of such attractive type magnetic bearings is the instability so that an active control device is necessary to operate bearing successfully. In this study a repulsive type magnetic bearing is analyzed which uses eddy current as a force source. The load capacities are analyzed for the various gap sizes, the rotor velocities and the frequencies of current supplied to electromagnet. Analytic Results show that as the gap size decreases, the levitation and drag forces increase, while the number of poles increasqs, the drag force decreases in the higher linear velocity region. Experimental results show that as the gap size decreases the levitation and the drag force increase, and as the velocity of rotor increases, the drag is larger than the levitation force up to certain velocity. But after that, the levitation is larger than the drag force. As the frequency of the current increases the levitation and drag decreases while the thickness of rotor gets thicker the forces decrease because of increase in eddy current loss.

  • In this paper, a robust levitation controller for an attractive MAGLVE system is designed. The design of an H$\infty$ controller based on LMI method is proposed for the control of a simple magnetic levitation system. Attractive MAGLEV system is highly nonlinear and open-loop unstable, and has a very restricted equilibrium region, Also, this system has to tolerate various disturbances caused by propulsion.   • The vibration of an attractive magnetic levitation(Maglev) vehicle transportation system is caused by the irregularity of the guideway track and the performance of the suspensions of the Maglev system. It is essential for us to give attention to the secondary suspension of the vehicle system as it determines the ride quality. In order to improve the ride quality and running stability, active secondary suspensions have been developed and applied to the vibration problems. This paper analyzes the performance of the active secondary suspension which is applied to an attractive magnetic levitation vehicle system running on a rough track. The dynamics of the suspension system and the optimal control problems are studied. According to the transient and frequency response analyses to the track disturbance, the ride quality of an attractive Maglev vehicle has been improved by applying the designed LQR active controller, and it has been confirmed that this improvement was also influenced by the configuration of the system.

자기부상시스템의 전자석 구동기 해석 (Electromagnet Actuator Analysis of Magnetic Levitation System)

  • Recently, there are a great many research for magnetic levitation system. In case electromagnet is operated as the actuator of control system, first of all, we must analysis about an electromagnet. Important parameters of this system are inductance(L) and resistance(R) which are induced from the coil of electromagnet. And attractive force equation is also important. If the load of this system is large, phase delay is caused by self-inductance effect. Because this delay effect cause stability of whole magnetic evitation system to grow worse, a measures to diminish time constant must have been taken. And the linearized attractive force equation which is used at small range of the operating point is compensated to use at larger range, thus the experiment of magnetic levitation system will get a better result.

  • 본 논문에서는 이동할 때 마찰이 없고 소음이나 먼지가 발생하지 않는 자기부상 물류이송시스템의 설계 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 자기부상 이송시스템은 크게 부상시스템과 추진시스템으로 구분된다. 자기부상시스템은 레일로 전자석을 끌어당기는 흡인식 부상시스템으로 구현하였으며, PID 제어기를 사용하여 전자석 공급 전류를 제어하였다. 자기부상 이송시스템의 추진시스템에는 바퀴의 마찰과 모터의 회전이 없고 소음이 최소화 되는 선형 유도전동기를 사용하였다. 추진시스템의 제어방법은 입력되는 직류전압에서 큰 교류전압을 얻을 수 있는 공간벡터 펄스폭 변조방식을 적용하였다. 제안한 자기부상 물류이송시스템은 부상 및 추진 제어 실험을 통하여 성능을 검증하였다.

  • This paper is concerned with the robust control of LQ state feedback regulators with poles in a specified region in the presence of system uncertainty. The robust stability results for the constant and nonlinear time varying perturbations are derived in terms of bounds of the perturbed system matrices and the weighting matrices in the performance index of LQ problem. The theoretical results are applied to the gap control problem of an attractive-type-magnetic levitation system and the effectiveness is proved by the implementation of digital control using 16 bits microcomputer.

  • Superconducting magnetic bearing and rotating system were developed by utilizing the high magnetization YBaCuO superconductor. The pellets prepared by quasi-melt process had a high magnetic levitation force and a high magnetic attractive force. The shaft also could be moves its position and orientation of the rotating axis freely. Is is essential to enhance the materials properties and to improve the system design for the application of the system to industrial purpose.
