  • The study is to find the relationship between brand concept consistency and the consumer attitude toward the extended brand and the moderating roles of knowledge, involvement and typicality on their relationships in the food-service industry. In the severely competitive market, brand extension strategy has become a key strategy to the companies that are trying to expand in the new market and to cut down the marketing cost. First , the similarity which is measured by consistency of brand concept has a positive effect on the consumer attitude toward the extended brand. Second, the knowledge on the original brand has moderating effect on the relationship between consistency of brand concept and the consumer attitude toward the extended brand. More knowledge brings on more favorable attitudes.

  • The purpose of this study was to test the relationship between health status and bathing. Method: The population of this study consisted of females, above age 20 in urban areas in order to control the effects of extraneous variables, resident areas, gender, and age. Four hundred and twenty-eight (428) women were interviewed with a structured questionnaire. Medical Outcomes Study Short Form (SF)-36 Health Survey assessed individual health status. Bathingbehavior and attitudes toward bath have been measured with questionnaires designed by the authors. Result: The most popular bathing type was shower (46.8%). The preferred type of bath was related to health status. A common purpose of the tub-bath was relieving fatigue and hygiene, but the other purposes were different on the subjects health status. Persons with low health status took frequently tub-baths for health. Attitudes toward bath were related to health status. Women with low scores in physical health recognized more physical effects of bath than psychological effects or hygenic effects. Conclusion: Bathing included physical and psychological dimensions and was related to health status.

  • Purpose: Motivated by an expedited growth and distribution of Online Food-Delivery (OFD) services, especially during the recent Covid-19 pandemic, this research aims to explore 1) how consumers' sustainability considerations are associated with satisfaction with the services via opt-out cutlery options and 2) the role of the pandemic in the relationships between sustainability considerations, attitudes toward opt-out cutlery options, and satisfaction with the OFD services. Data and Methodology: An analysis of survey data using 434 consumers in the United States recruited from Amazon M-Turk was conducted using structural equation modeling. Results: Findings suggest that consumers' environmental, health, and ethical considerations are positively related to their attitudes toward opt-out cutlery options. Furthermore, attitudes toward opt-out cutlery options are positively related to satisfaction with the OFD services only when they feel connected with the environment, driven by perceived threats of an infectious disease (i.e. Covid-19). Conclusion: The study findings provide new insights to managers in the OFD service industry on how to promote sustainable consumption during the pandemic.

  • Present-day organizations have become largely dependent on mobile instant messaging services (MIMs) for various organizational purposes. Focusing on the increasing use of MIMs in today's organizations, this study aims to explain how different aspects of KakaoTalk, the most dominant MIM in Korea, influence employees' attitudes toward their current employers, and how these attitudes impact the employees' intentions to stay at their present workplaces. Overall, with the exception of one factor (satisfaction with KakaoTalk use), all other factors (perceived quality of information exchanged through KakaoTalk, belongingness through KakaoTalk, and KakaoTalk overload) significantly influenced employee's attractiveness toward their current employers. Specifically, while KakaoTalk overload's effect on perceived organizational attractiveness was negative, two other factors were positively associated with it. Perceived organizational attractiveness also strongly influenced employees' intention to stay at their present workplaces. These findings contribute to expanding practical and theoretical understandings regarding the critical roles of MIMs in the efficient management of organizations in this hyperconnected society.

  • Purpose. Nursing research is recognized as an essential basis for the continuous development of the scientific nursing knowledge and practice. An understanding of the barriers and attitudes to research among nurses is important to improve clinical nursing research activities. Method. Data were collected from nurses at a general hospital, located in D city, using a self-reported questionnaire, from March 15th to April 4th, 2003, and 133 questionnaires were used for the analyses. A 5 point-scale instrument was used to measure barriers and attitudes towards nursing research, with a Cronbach's alpha of .85 and .89, respectively. Results. Nurses had limited experience in research and were not well prepared to conduct it. Lack of experience, training and time were the major barriers for conducting research. However, the nurses had positive attitudes toward research. There was a difference in barriers (t = 2.68, P = .02) and research attitudes (t =- 2.74, P = .00) according to the nurses' position. Also, the nurses' research experience influenced research attitudes (t = -3.27, P = .00). The degree of research preparation (F = 6.98, P = .00) had an effect on the attitudes toward nursing research but not on the barriers. Conclusion. There is an urgent need to promote both the ability and environment for clinical nurses to actively participate in research. As the majority of nurses had little experience and low confidence in research and perceived many barriers, this promotion can be accomplished by enhancing their confidence in research through continuing education and by gradually eliminating the barriers to research.
