  • The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of physical education classes based on Flipped Learning on self-directed learning abilities and learning attitude towards these classes, for middle school students. The study selected 90 students as an experimental group (3 classes) and 97 students as a control group (3 classes), among 240 students of the first-year students attending a middle school located at Jeonju City of South Korea, applying convenience sampling, one of the non-probability sampling methods. For the experimental group, 36 sessions of physical education classes were held for 14 weeks, while the control group received teacher-centered classes. Comparing the results with the control group, the experimental group showed significant differences in terms of all sub factors of self-directed learning abilities, namely; desire for learning, learning objective establishment, basic self-management abilities, selection of learning strategy and self-reflection. Moreover, the experimental group manifested significant differences in terms of all sub factors of attitude towards the physical education subjects, namely; positive emotions, negative emotions, health & physical strength, interpersonal relations, physical activities & movements, and active participation & positive performance. From the findings, it can be considered that physical education classes based on Flipped Learning contributed to improving self-directed learning abilities and attitude towards physical education classes. This result can serve as a significant basic material for designing and performing classes in raising the understanding of Flipped Learning and effectively applying Flipped Learning in physical education classes.

  • Subjects consisting of 335 middle school students were analyzed using arousal seeking tendency scales to determine the effect on student's scores on scales for physical education intrinsic motivation and physical education attitude. The data were subjected to frequency analysis, correlation analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis as statistical methods. The results were as follows. In the subscales of arousal seeking tendency, novelty seeking positively influenced interest, efforts, and competence. In the subscales of arousal seeking tendency, novelty seeking positively influenced physical education attitude, but thrill seeking negatively influenced health and fitness only. In the subscales of physical education intrinsic motivation, interest and efforts positively influenced physical education attitude, while both competence and tension partly influenced it. These findings indicate that improving both attitude and intrinsic motivation of middle school students toward physical education would require a method of teaching and learning that encourages students′ novelty seeking in the subscales of arousal seeking tendency.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate of body mass index, body image, eating attitude, and physical activity in physical education freshman. 341 male and 254 female students were participated in this study, and filled out the BSQ, EAT-26, and IPAQ questionnaire. Based on the their BMI, normal was 67.2%, underweight was 5.4%, overweight was 17.8%, and obesity was 9.6%. The normal rates of male and female were 57.7% vs. 78.7%. The results of BSQ were indicated 48.2% of participants was dissatisfied, and the rates of male and female were 22.9% vs. 82.3%. The results of EAT-26 showed that 20.2% of participants had abnormal eating attitude, and the rates of male and female were 7.3% vs. 37.4%. 99% of participants was physically active. All variables were statistically different between gender. There was positive correlation between body image and eating attitude in male and female students, and BMI was correlated with body image and eating attitude in male students. However, physical activity was no relationship with other variables. In conclusion, physical education students had high rate of dissatisfied in body image and rate of abnormal eating attitude. In addition, the higher dissatisfied in body image was the more abnormal eating attitude. Therefore, the proper education about weight management and change of social awareness may be needed.

  • This study examined adolescent male and female students' attitudes toward physical education (PE) from the Philippines and South Korea. Participants were 451 middle school students from the Philippines and South Korea. The Physical Education Attitude Scale (PEAS) was used to measure students' PE attitudes. Overall, students had moderately positive attitudes toward PE. PE attitudes of Korean boys were more positive compared with Filipino boys, while the reverse was found for Korean females and their Filipino counterparts. Based on the different aspects of PE, Filipino girls were more motivated to participate in PE activities and more satisfied with their PE class than Korean girls. Korean boys were highly satisfied, more comfortable, and less anxious during PE compared with Filipino boys. Finally, Filipino boys had less positive view towards their PE teacher than Korean boys. This study shows adolescent students' attitudes toward PE were generally positive, complex, and affected by sex and nationality. It also provides additional knowledge on comparative international research on cross-cultural PE attitudes.

  • The physical computing education, as the emerging field, is a form of education that helps learners to develop the attitude of scientific inquiry by developing meaningful and creative output through the integration of hardware and software elements. Based on the literature, the authors of the study used science experience, school support and learning flow as the variables that predict the outcome variable which is the attitude of scientific inquiry. The authors collected data from 64 fourth and sixth graders who studied physical computing at an institution for the gifted and talented in Korea and then analyzed them using descriptive statistics, correlation, multiple regression and simple mediation analysis methods. As a result, science experience and learning flow significantly predicted the attitude of scientific inquiry. In addition, learning flow mediated the relationship between science experience and the attitude of scientific inquiry, and the relationship between school support and the attitude of scientific inquiry. Based on these results, the authors propose that to promote the attitude of scientific inquiry in physical computing education, strategies must be implemented for improving science experience, school support and learning flow in instructional design.

Methods: Participants in this study surveyed physical therapists who are members of the Association of Korean Physical Therapists on their awareness of dementia, and conducted online surveys from January 28 to February 27, 2021. The survey questions used in the survey consisted of 29 questions in total, including 9 general characteristics of the participant, 10 questions on perception of dementia, and 10 attitudes toward dementia. All 104 participants were surveyed, and 100 surveys were analyzed, excluding 4 surveys with insufficient responses. Results: In this study, the correct answer rate for all items in the dementia awareness sub-item was 65%, and the dementia attitude-related sub-items were generally positive. However, there was no significant correlation between personal characteristics such as gender, age, educational background, treatment target, treatment experience and dementia awareness, and no correlation with dementia attitude was significant. • Objective: During the physical therapy education, if we can understand the student's attitude then we can make valuable suggestions with respect to the teaching in the universities and professional employment in the country. The aim of the current study is to develop a questionnaire to test the physical therapy students' attitudes towards their education and profession and to test its test-retest reliability and content validity. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: A total of 47 physical therapy students who were in their final year were randomly selected to participate in the study. After the making of the questionnaire, it was given to 6 professional experts teaching in the field of physical therapy to obtain their responses for each question with a 5-point Likert scale grading. Their answers were used in making the content validity of the questionnaire. Afterwards, the physical therapy students were asked to fill the questionnaire. Instrument reliability and test-retest reliability were also assessed by having the students complete the questionnaire after one month of taking the questionnaire. Results: The content validity index was 0.71 for the whole scale and values of individual subdivisions were ranging from 0.69 to 0.75. Instrument reliability measured by Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.86 for the whole scale and subdivision values were ranging from 0.32 to 0.86. Test-retest reliability was assessed by intraclass correlation coefficient, which was 0.71 for whole scales and subdivision values were ranging from 0.38 to 0.70. Conclusions: This questionnaire, which assesses the physical therapy student attitude towards their education and profession, has good content validity, instrument reliability, and test-retest reliability.
