Measurements of strain near a crack tip with electrical resistance strain gages do not usually provide a reliable value of stress intensity factor (K sub I) because of local yielding and limited regions for strain-gage placement. This paper attempted to define a valid region and to indicate procedures for locating and orienting the strain-gage to determine stress intensity factor accurately from one stain-gage readings.

In the past several years phytoremediation, defined as the use of plants for removing contaminants from media such as soils or water, has attracted a great deal of interest as a potentially useful remediation technology. In this study, we have attempted to asses the effectiveness of phytoremeidation of disel contaminate soils using hybrid poplar species. 3 poplar species had removed disel from soil effectively and toxic effect was also observed over 2500mg/kg disel contaminated soil, which indicating reducing disel removal.

This study was attempted to investigate the pharmacokinetics of theophylline(4mg/kg) in the rabbits of carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic Cailure, The plasma concentration and relative bioavailability of theophylline were increased significantly in hepatic railure rabbits compared with those of normal rabbits. There was significant relationship between SGOT value and bioavailability parameters of theophylline. From the results of this experiments, dosage regimen of theophylline is considered to be adjusted in dose size and dosing interval using SGOT values.

This study attempted to examine the effect on sensory characteristics$.$and physiochemical propertics of Omija jelly in various volume of adding carrageenan and pectin. The viscosity and the turbidity were decreased according to the increase concentration Omija jelly with pectin. The sensory evaluation of Omija jelly was the best with the ratio 0.5％ carrageenan.

Experimental wind tunnel tests have been attempted to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of floating offshore structure using some types of scaled mldels. The static behaviors of lift, drag forces and pitching moment of its models are measured to exammine the relationship between wind loads and incidence angle, wind velocity, shape of models. The effect of solid ground has been obtained also.

For the purpose of scientific evaluation of oriental medicine, statistical analyses of oriental medicine formularies have been attempted. Four hundred and sixty seven prescriptions in 'Bang-Yak-Hap-Pyon', the most popular formulary of oriental medicine in Korea, were analysed to obtain statistical characteristics on the prescription frequency and origin distribution of two hundred and ninety three herb drugs.

In this review, key issues In evaluating effectiveness are identified and Insights on the application of major assessment approaches are provided. This paper presents System-Process Model on assessing the effectiveness of R&D organization(Korean Government-supported Research Institutes). System-Process Model has attempted to integrate different approaches. It is useful In sensitizing evaluators to the importance of goal, internal process, system resource and feedback in improving organizational effectiveness.

During the closure of the sternum, following the mitral valve replacement for mitral stenoinsufficiency, hemodynamic instability with cardiac tamponade was developed. After transfusion of massive diuretics and albumin for a few times, reclosure of the sternum was attempted with development of hemodynamic instability. And so we decided delayed sternal closure. After 72 hours of mitral valve replacement, delayed sternal closure was done with success, and so we report this case with literatures.

Recently many organizations have attempted to build hypermedia systems to expand their working areas to internet-based virtual work places. It is thus important to manage corporate hypermedia documents effectively. Metadata play a critical role for managing these documents. This paper identifies metadata roles and components to build its schema. Furthermore a meta-information system HyDoMiS(Hyperdocument Meta-information System) is proposed by the use of this metadata schema. HyDoMiS performs three functions; metadata management search and reporting The metadata management function is concerned with workflow document and database. The system is more likely to help implement and maintsain hypermedia information system effectively.

A perfect evaluation for scientists and engineers is impossible unless the R&D process is fully explored. But the study in this area is being intencified, and consequently progress is being made. In this paper an evaluation method for scientists and engineers in project-oriented R&D organizations is developed. That is, a method that the evaluation for the job performance directly influences personnel management such as promotion, and the evaluation for their potential, characteristics influences indirectly. Further systematization of evaluation process, which is no less importatant than evaluation itself, is attempted.
