The purpose of this study was to identify the latent profiles according to the core competencies of middle school students and to examine whether the parent-child relationship predicts the latent profiles based on the core competencies for students defined by the Korean Ministry of Education. To achieve the purpose of the study, a total of 6,065 second-year middle school students were analyzed from the fourth year of the Korean Educational Longitudinal Study (KELS 2013), which was conducted by the Korean Educational Development Institute in 2016. The results of latent profile analysis and multinomial logistic regression are as follows. First, three latent profiles (higher competency group (19.54%), middle competency group (49.03%), and lower competency group (31.43%)) were derived according to the core competencies. For all groups, the highest competency was communication ability, and the lowest was creative ability. Second, the variables of the parent-child relationship (i.e., parental academic support, emotional support, and attachment level) were significant in predicting differences among the core competency latent profiles. In particular, the emotional support of parents was found to have the greatest influence on the core competencies of middle school students. This study identified the influence of the parent-child relationship on the development of core competencies. Further, it showed that a good family relationship is important for the holistic development of adolescents.

The purpose of this study was to provide basic data necessary for improving the oral health of the elderly and quality of their lives by analyzing the relationship among the geriatric denture-related characteristics, denture satisfaction, and geriatric oral health assessment index. For this study, the elderly aged 65 or higher who resided in Euseong-gun, Yeongju-si, Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do were surveyed from March 25, 2013 to May 9 of the same year. The results of this study showed that the denture satisfaction had high correlation with the 'satisfaction with denture attachment', 'satisfaction with aesthetic function of pronunciation', and satisfaction with masticatory function. Moreover, the causative relation was found to exist among the geriatric denture-related characteristics, denture satisfaction, and geriatric oral health assessment index. Thus, it is considered necessary to establish the institutional system and take measures that can improve the awareness towards the geriatric oral health education and geriatric oral health state with respect to effective use and management of denture.

This study investigated the relationship between attachment site preference of the skin parasite, Entobdella hippoglossi and mucous cell density, moucus cell size and epidermis thickness on the surface of the Atlantic halibut Hippoglossus hippoglossus. Parasites occupying the ventral surface of their host were significantly longer and wider than those found on the other zones of the fish (P<0.05). The mean size of the mucous cells on the front region was significantly greater than the other regions on the dorsal and ventral surface (P<0.05). The average numbers of mucous cells and the epidermal thickness in the skin of the halibut were shown that the front region had significantly higher numbers of mucous cells and thicker layer than the rear region on the dorsal and ventral surface of the halibut, respectively (P<0.05).

This paper was intended to identify the knowledge structure of youth-related research by looking at the research trends of research papers published in Korean Journal of Youth Studies from 2010 to 2018. Using keywords extracted from the papers, the Centrality and Cohesion analysis of the keyword network analysis of the NetMiner program were used. In the analysis of degree centrality, the "relationship" was the highest, followed by schools and youth, and high in the order of parents and violence. In the analysis of betweenness centrality, the "relationship" was also the highest, followed by youth, school, need, education, parents, children, abuse/emotion(the same level), institutions, regions, cell phones/prevention/welfare(the same level), elementary, attachment, suicide, addiction, society, violence, children, services, support, policy/teachers(the same level). According to the cohesion analysis, school life and policy, addiction, parent & peer relations, civic education & welfare support, sentiment and thinking, college, abuse & suicide were divided into a total of seven sub-topic subjects.

Many factors have been implicated in the etiology of gingival recession, including faulty toothbrushing, the position of the tooth in the arch(malalignment), the presence of inflammation, frenal attachment, impingement of restoration margins, orthodontic treatment and trauma from occlusion. Among the many factors, this study was to evaluate the relationship of occlusion and gingival recession. 640 teeth without other etiologic factors of gingival recession were evaluated in 40 subjects aged 21-59 years. Only 1st, 2nd premolar and molar were included in this study. We recorded nonworking contacts, working contacts, cervical abrasion, sex, gingival recession and evaluated that relation of occlusion and gingival recession. The results of this study were as follows; 1. Teeth with nonworking contacts were significantly more gingival recession than teeth without nonworking contacts.(p<0.01) 2. Teeth with working contacts were significantly more gingival recession than teeth without working contacts.(p<0.01) 3. Teeth with cervical lesion were significantly more gingival recession than teeth without cervical lesion.(p<0.01) 4. Men's teeth were more gingival recession than women's teeth but it was not significant.(p>0.01)

There is ample research on the Korea-China-Japan trilateral relationship in various directions that includes geopolitical aspects. There still exist escalated tensions in politics and diplomacy despite the remarkable growth in the economic and cultural exchanges between these countries. This study presents a way of representing national identity based on survey results via principal component analysis, and investigates if these national identities can be related to conflict and cooperation among the three countries. The results show that the attachment to the nation does not affect the conflicts between the countries and that a more friendly awareness of other countries tends to give a positive effect to cooperation between countries.

Purpose: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a form of arteriosclerosis that occurs in the extremities and involves ischemia. Previous studies have reported that patients with periodontitis are at high risk for PAD. However, the relationship between these 2 diseases has not yet been fully elucidated. In this cross-sectional study, we investigated this relationship by comparing patients with PAD to those with arrhythmia (ARR) as a control group. Methods: A large-scale survey was conducted of patients with cardiovascular disease who visited Tokyo Medical and Dental University Hospital. We investigated their oral condition and dental clinical measurements, including probing pocket depth, bleeding on probing, clinical attachment level, and number of missing teeth; we also collected salivary and subgingival plaque samples and peripheral blood samples. All patients with PAD were extracted from the whole population (n=25), and a matching number of patients with ARR were extracted (n=25). Simultaneously, ARR patients were matched to PAD patients in terms of age, gender, prevalence of diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, and the smoking rate (n=25 in both groups). Real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed to measure the bacterial counts, while the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method was used to measure anti-bacterial antibody titers and proinflammatory cytokine levels in serum. Results: PAD patients had more missing teeth ($18.4{\pm}2.0$) and higher serum levels of C-reactive protein ($1.57{\pm}0.85mg/dL$) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha ($70.3{\pm}5.7pg/mL$) than ARR patients ($12.0{\pm}1.7$, $0.38{\pm}0.21mg/dL$, and $39.3{\pm}4.5pg/mL$, respectively). Meanwhile, no statistically significant differences were found in other dental clinical measurements, bacterial antibody titers, or bacterial counts between the 2 groups. Conclusions: Our findings suggested that PAD patients had poorer oral and periodontal state with enhanced systemic inflammation.

The education of children is one of the most important parts in children's literature. Children's literature, whose implied readers are both children and parents, is a good means to teach how they should behave and interact. Therefore, literary conventions of children's literature tend to be conservative with happy endings or fairy tale elements. Most of the children's literature of the 18th century were read as a conduct book which teaches children good manners and proper behavior, and at the same time served as a guidebook which tells parents how to discipline children. It emphasized the need of discipline to ascertain the hierarchy and order of the family, and cherished the close relationship between parents and children. In the 19th century, the ideal of family becomes more internalized. In the early 20th century, the ideology of family still remained, even though the world wars and economic depressions caused the cracks and collapses of the family. In the later 20th century, the disintegration of the traditional family was accelerated. The ideal of family based on the close relationship between parents and children, has had problems from the start. The attachment and over-closeness became stressful and sometimes could be poisonous. Recent children's literature shows the process of disintegration of the traditional nuclear family, children suffering in the fractured family, children's mental trauma, and nostalgia for the lost family. However, modern children's literature manages to find the lost or ideal surrogate family, and often shows fairy-tale elements such as mystical and heroic child protagonists or helpers who might solve all the difficult problems at once, despite the collapse of the family in reality.

Purpose: Developmental endothelial locus-1 (DEL-1) plays a role in regulating neutrophil migration within the periodontium. The objective of this study was to evaluate the levels of DEL-1 in saliva and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF), as well as the number of neutrophils in patients with periodontitis. Methods: Forty systemically healthy, non-smoking periodontitis patients participated in this study. Clinical periodontal parameters, including the plaque index, probing pocket depth (PPD), clinical attachment level, bleeding on probing, modified sulcular bleeding index, and marginal bone level, were measured. Levels of DEL-1, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and IL-8 in unstimulated saliva samples, as well as DEL-1 in the GCF of 3 teeth from each participant, were assessed. Neutrophil counts in oral rinse and GCF samples were recorded. Spearman correlation coefficients were used to examine the correlation between protein levels, clinical parameters, and neutrophil quantities. Participants were divided into 2 age groups (those under 50 years and those 50 years or older) in order to investigate potential age-related differences. Results: DEL-1 levels in the GCF showed a negative relationship with PPD (sum). Neutrophils in oral rinse samples were positively correlated with PPD, IL-8, and IL-1β levels. Neutrophils in GCF exhibited a positive correlation with PPD (sum). Salivary DEL-1 levels showed correlations with IL-8 and IL-1β, but not with the clinical parameters of periodontitis. Conclusions: The negative relationship observed between PPD and GCF DEL-1 levels is consistent with the proposed protective role of DEL-1.

This study explores the ideal corporate social responsibility(CSR) that fashion consumers expect from a fashion firm in the identification of dimensions and levels of consumer expectations as well as examines the impact of CSR expectations on customer-base brand equity. The data of 315 adults were collected through a nationwide online survey. In order to analyze the data, this study employed Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), paired t-test, structural equation modeling(SEM), and descriptive analysis. This study first identified seven fashion CSR expectations (environmental, ethical, social, internal management, philanthropic, economic, and legal expectations). Internal management and environmental activities were highly expected from fashion firms; however, economic activity was low in expectations. Five models separately tested the relationship between CSR expectations and brand equity (trustworthiness, attachment, performance, social image, and value). Economic, environmental, internal management, social and ethical CSR expectations influenced customer-based brand equity; however, philanthropic and legal expectations did not influence any dimension of customer-based brand equity. This study provides a framework of ideal CSR from a consumer perspective and suggests that fashion marketers should focus on economic, environmental, internal management, social and ethical CSR activities to meet the expect Haitians of fashion consumers and build stronger brand equity.
