  • The energy efficiency of papermaking process becomes more significant because of various new regulation of the energy consumption and the green house gas emission. In this study, the effects of wood powder addition on the drainage and the drying efficiency of the OCC based paper products, linerboard, were deeply investigated for improving energy efficiency. The fractionation of wood powder depending on the size were conducted. The bigger size of wood powder resulted in the higher bulk and the higher drainage efficiency, but the lower paper strength. The drying efficiency were in detail evaluated depending on the drying process level. In the first section of drying process until the 80% solid level, there were no significant changes in the drying efficiency by the addition of wood powder. However, after the 80 % solid level, the drying efficiency was greatly improved by the addition of wood powder. Those results showed the addition of wood powder could greatly affect not only the drainage in forming and wet pressing but also the drying process.

  • This research investigated the mechanical properties of the 4 different types of $3{\times}3$ cable stitches on weft knitted fabrics. The 4 kinds of cable-stitch fabrics were knitted under the same knitting conditions, then the mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, elongation, stiffness, etc. were measured according to the Korean Industrial Standards (KS K 0642). The knitting time for the sample produced by the knitting process 1 was the shortest among the 4 different types of samples. It means that the knitting process 1 would have benefits of higher productivity if there is no yarn breakage during the knitting of the cable stitches. In the test for tensile strength, the samples produced by knitting processes 3 and 4 have tensile values of approximately 8~11% higher than the sample produced by knitting process 1. The test for elongation also shows that the samples produced by knitting processes 3 and 4 have up to 18% higher elongation values than the sample produced by knitting process 1. On the other hand, the stiffness test showed no significant difference between the 4 samples. This study is expected to increase the competitiveness of the local knitting industry as a result of providing basic data on the mechanical properties of special knitted stitches, such as cable stitches.

  • In systemic grammar an English clause is analysed simultaneously from the point view of its ideational function, interpersonal function and textual function. This study deals with only the ideational function of the three functions, which accounts for the underlying content of a clause. Transitivity is the subsystem of the ideational function. It specifies the different types of process that are recongnized in the language and the structures by which they are expressed. The purpose of the paper is to describe the transitivity of English clause on the basis of systemic approach. For this we analyzed the three subsystems of transitivity which are physical process, mental process and relational process in the form of features. And we described the sets of the features of the three different types of process in English clause in the framework of the system network.

  • The e-Trade environment has enabled the complex trade processes to be automated using e-Trade information systems, which had been manually processed through many trade-related parties in the past. Korea has completed the development of the most advanced e-Trade platform called "u-Trade Hub," which can process automatically all the trade-related activities from marketing to payment. It is anticipated for the world trade environment to have more FTAs throughout the world and this will complicate the trade processes more and more in the future. This means the constant cost-bearing updates of the e-Trade environment to adapt the process changes brought by new FTAs with other countries. In this paper, we propose the systematic approach to easily as well as less costly adapt the possible trade process changes resulted from the future FTAs by adopting a rule base management system. The prototype system to test the applicability of the proposed approach is developed using Win-Prolog 4.8 environment.

  • This study develops a model of migration decision-making process, with identifying macrolevel and microlevel factors affecting the process. The model includes some sequential stages : to be dissatisfied with current residential area, intend to move, collect information about alternative destinations, select destination, decide to move, and make actual migration. The macrolevel factors included in the model are environmental, socioeconomic, cultural, and demographic characteristics of the current residence and alternative destinations. The microlevel factors are psychological, socioeconomic, and demographic characteristics of the individual. The effects of the macrolevel and microlevel factors on each stage of migration decision-making process are identified from the previous studies on migration. This study has both theoretical and practical implications. The theoretical contribution will be in the area of integrating the ecological and the individual level perspectives of migration by identifying the macrolevel and microlevel effects on migration decision-making process. This study also has implications for theoretical frameworks guiding empirical analysis of migration behavior of the individuals, and for policies aimed at redistributing population.

  • Of all the ways that energy is consumed within textile industry, few are as high energy-expending as dyeing process. The energy consumption in dyeing process amounts to 77% of total fuel consumption, 54% of total electricity use. A technical development in terms of efficient saving energy and time as well is required in the process of dyeing textiles. Recently, dyeing experts are investigating new technologies can conserve energy grafting into microwaves, radio waves, infrared lights, etc. Dyeing industry in Korea, however, the research related to energy conservation has been rarely conducted. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the possibility where especially microwaves could be applied to reduce the energy use and enhance dyeing process skill. This study performs the experiment in which microwave is employed as heating condition in dyeing and figures out as color yield being promoted, bathochromic effect would be achieved. Applying microwaves in dyeing process is expected to lower the carbon emission, energy and time wasted, ultimately exalt economic efficiency.
