Evaluation of Green House Gases by Transportation Using Traffic Census Results from Changwon City (창원시 실제 교통량 자료를 이용한 도로수송부문 온실가스 배출량 평가)

  • In this study, which aims to estimate the volume of greenhouse gas emitted by road transportation vehicles in Changwon City, the emission rate was calculated on the basis of the actual traffic volume measured at major crossroads and compared with the results obtained from the methodology used to estimate the greenhouse gas emissions of road transportation provided in the IPCC 2006 GL guidelines (Tier 1, Tier 3). Analysis of the results of the comparison showed that the Tier 1 methodology, which was applied in the estimation of the rate of greenhouse gas emissions, carries a high probability of underestimation, while the Tier 3 methodology carries a relatively high probability of overestimation. Therefore, when considering the assignment of permissible rates of emission to local governments, the application of the methodology, i.e. whether one uses Tier 1 or Tier 3, may result in a large difference in the rate of allowable emissions. It is suggested that a method based on the actual volume of traffic would be the most reasonable one with regard to the development of a realistic plan.

  • Nowadays, the movement of commercial vehicles has caused severe congestion, environmental problems and damaged pavements in urban area. To solve the Problems, this research has proposed a methodology to build-up a freight network that is enable to manage the movement and demand of commercial vehicles. The network based on urban arterial network has developed according to freight traffic volume that is under the influence of road types among The in study area. Freight network has been developed by assignment method of 4-step transportation forecasting. Once, acceptable limits of freight traffic volume are decided, freight network can be developed using the capacity To confirm the application of the methodology, freight network of Seoul city has developed by the methodology.

  • In the feasibility analysis, Braess' Paradox results in the negative social benefit in spite of adding transportation facilities. Consequently, it has been difficult to judge on the investment of SOC projects. This research aims to analyze the Braess' Paradox in the feasibility analysis and to seek a remedy for the Paradox. Several experiments were conducted on the simple network under the various conditions. From the experiments, following findings were validated: Braess' Paradox occurred only if travel demands met within certain intermediate range. In terms of traffic assignment method, the SO was more likely to reduce the effect of the Braess' Paradox than the UE. However, the Braess' Paradox in the benefit of operating cost saving occurred in all cases and the paradox in the total benefit continued. In order to solve the problem, new link cost function considered travel time and operating cost simultaneously were suggested. As a result, the negative benefit was significantly decreased in the UE case and total negative benefit was no longer shown in the SO case through the analysis.

Implementation of a DBA Algorithm with the Maximum Link Bandwidth Allocation in the G-PON (G-PON에서 최대 링크 대역폭까지 할당이 가능한 DBA 알고리즘의 구현)

  • In the TDMA PON system, the DBA is essential for ONUs to send data efficiently to the upstream. In this paper, we implement a DBA processor for the G-PON OLT with downstream and upstream rate, 2.5 and 1.25 Gbps, respectively, The processor collects bandwidth request messages from ONUs at every cycle time and allocates properly bandwidth to each Alloc-ID with considering priority and fairness for traffics. In the proposed DBA algorithm, one cycle time consists of multiple G-PON frames ($m{\times}125{\mu}s$) for high link efficiency. In particular, the link efficiency is higher because the algorithm adopts a method that an additional overhead is eliminated when an allocated bandwidth is laid between two G-PON frames for an ONU. This enables that the processor flexibly allocates the bandwidth from zero to the maximum link capacity for an ONU. The proposed DBA processor is implemented with the FPGA and shows bandwidth allocating processes for ONUs with logic analyzer.

  • It is important to adopt an operation system to operate the Automated warehouses using limited resources such as space, mobile racks, and forklift. The main purpose from the operation system is to reduce the length of moving and time for both mobile racks and forklift. The complexity of the warehouse will be higher because the racks and vehicles are moving at the same time. This complexity influences badly so the operation system has to control it well. Not only layout or receipt or issue, but also conflict between mobile racks and vehicles give more complexity to the warehouse. This paper aims to fine the proper operation method related to the layout and the cargo assignment.

An Efficient Falsification Algorithm for Logical Expressions in DNF (DNF 논리식에 대한 효율적인 반증 알고리즘)

  • Since the problem of disproving a tautology is as hard as the problem of proving it, no polynomial time algorithm for falsification(or testing invalidity) is feasible. Previous algorithms are mostly based on either divide-and-conquer or graph representation. Most of them demonstrated satisfactory results on a variety of input under certain constraints. However, they have experienced difficulties dealing with big input. We propose a new falsification algorithm using a Merge Rule to produce a counterexample by constructing a minterm which is not satisfied by an input expression in DNF(Disjunctive Normal Form). We also show that the algorithm is consistent and sound. The algorithm is based on a greedy method which would seek to maximize the number or terms falsified by the assignment made at each step of the falsification process. Empirical results show practical performance on big input to falsify randomized nontautological problem instances, consuming O(nm$^2$) time, where n is the number of variables and m is number of terms.

Algorithm for Predicting Functionally Equivalent Proteins from BLAST and HMMER Searches

  • In order to predict biologically significant attributes such as function from protein sequences, searching against large databases for homologous proteins is a common practice. In particular, BLAST and HMMER are widely used in a variety of biological fields. However, sequence-homologous proteins determined by BLAST and proteins having the same domains predicted by HMMER are not always functionally equivalent, even though their sequences are aligning with high similarity. Thus, accurate assignment of functionally equivalent proteins from aligned sequences remains a challenge in bioinformatics. We have developed the FEP-BH algorithm to predict functionally equivalent proteins from protein-protein pairs identified by BLAST and from protein-domain pairs predicted by HMMER. When examined against domain classes of the Pfam-A seed database, FEP-BH showed 71.53% accuracy, whereas BLAST and HMMER were 57.72% and 36.62%, respectively. We expect that the FEP-BH algorithm will be effective in predicting functionally equivalent proteins from BLAST and HMMER outputs and will also suit biologists who want to search out functionally equivalent proteins from among sequence-homologous proteins.

  • The lighting industry has become the bigger and more systemized using the semiconductor LED with each control R(Red), G(Green), B(Blue). The communication standard DMX512(ANSI E1.11) protocol of it basically needs the address which can be distinguished between the lighting terminals. The conventional method has to give the address of the lighting any methods like dip switch, EEROM and PROM. Then the lighting terminal can receive RGB data from DMX512 communication. According to electrical characteristics DMX512 protocol has to the splitter every 32 lighting terminals. If 512 lightings is all connected, maximum 16 splitters are needed. This paper is solved above weakness in DMX512 protocol using serial connection all lighting terminals. Also I developed the intelligent lighting terminal with auto-addressing. This was solved the inconvenience of the address assignment and the usage of the splitter. The developed products is applied and selled the semiconductor lighting terminals using ON-OFF control, dimming control, sequential control and rainbow control.

Computational Analysis of the 3-D structure of Human GPR87 Protein: Implications for Structure-Based Drug Design

  • The G-protein coupled receptor 87 (GPR87) is a recently discovered orphan GPCR which means that the search of their endogenous ligands has been a novel challenge. GPR87 has been shown to be overexpressed in squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) or adenocarcinomas in lungs and bladder. The 3D structure of GPR87 was here modeled using two templates (2VT4 and 2ZIY) by a threading method. Functional assignment of GPR87 by SVM revealed that along with transporter activity, various novel functions were predicted. The 3D structure was further validated by comparison with structural features of the templates through Verify-3D, ProSA and ERRAT for determining correct stereochemical parameters. The resulting model was evaluated by Ramachandran plot and good 3D structure compatibility was evidenced by DOPE score. Molecular dynamics simulation and solvation of protein were studied through explicit spherical boundaries with a harmonic restraint membrane water system. A DRY-motif (Asp-Arg-Tyr sequence) was found at the end of transmembrane helix3, where GPCR binds and thus activation of signals is transduced. In a search for better inhibitors of GPR87, in silico modification of some substrate ligands was carried out to form polar interactions with Arg115 and Lys296. Thus, this study provides early insights into the structure of a major drug target for SCCs.

  • In this paper, the phisical layer of 4.3008 Mcps wideband CDMA which is proposed as the standard of personal communication service system is introduced. It is designed to fit 5 MHz bandwidth by using $28{\times}2^n$ Hadamard code. 13 kbps CELP vocoder is chosen as the main one and 32 kbps ADPCM can be applied. In the reverse link, the burst pilot scheme is proposed and produces the increase of capacity compared with the continuous pilot method. In order to maintain the service quality when the signaling data is increased, the information data and signaling data are time-multiplexed and making use of signaling activity brings the increase of capacity. QPSK data and QPSK spreading, variable frame size, and code pair assignment for high data rate are accomplished and then information data is transmited up to 64 kbps. It is expected that the proposed techiniques here are used in the FPLMTS.
