Individual internal monitoring program by in-vivo measurement technique at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute includes the capability for the assessment of uranium and americium lung burdens. This capability is an important part of the health and safety program. This article addresses the lung burden assessment portion of our in vivo measurement capabilities.

BOK-X12-ARIMA has been developed by the Bank of Korea in order to accomodate special features such as lunar effect, labor day and election effect which are intrinsic in Korean seasonal time series. Irregular component resulting from BOK-X12-ARIMA is usually treated as white noise time series. If this shows dependency structure, it may be advisable to incorporate dependency in irregular component into prediction. This article illustrates how to refine point forecast using dependency structure in irregular component.

Since Beran (1977) developed the minimum Hellinger distance estimation, this method has been a popular topic in the field of robust estimation. In the process of defining a distance, a kernel density estimator has been widely used as a density estimator. In this article, however, we show that a combination of a kernel density estimator and an empirical density could result a smaller bias of the minimum Hellinger distance estimator than using just a kernel density estimator for a location parameter.

The purpose of this article is to develop a program for teaching Type I and Type II errors in one sample. In this program, the concepts of two errors are visually explained, and the probabilities of two errors are also visually displayed as the rejection region changes or the sample size changes. Also, in this program, the power curve and the operating characteristic curve are visually displayed in terms of the parameter value of interest.

This article develops a control model for an open queueing network in terms of both the input and the output processes with stochastic intensities. The input and the output intensities are subject to some capacity limits and optimum control is characterized by a threshold type with a finite upper barrier. A discounted profit is used as a decision criteria, which is revenue minus operating and holding cost.

In this article, three cases of speciality hospitals, Songdo hospital, Bucheon Sejong Hospital, and Wooridul Hospital, are described and analyzed. They have shown outstanding performances and have high reputations. Success factors are drawn out from the cases: innovative founder, technological innovation, team medicine, and customer satisfaction. Implications and limitations are discussed, and suggestions for the future studies are suggested.

The article expounds that the speed competition is the motive force of each transportation means. It also analyzes the current condition of the speed of Chinese railways. The developing strategy for Chinese railway is to raise the speed of the existing lines as a primary step and to construct the high-speed railway in selected sections concurrently, which proved that constructing high-speed railway in Beijing-Shanghai area is the best choice.

Base Station Controller which belongs to IMT-2000(International Mobile Telecommunication - 2000) network has several types of structure for efficient control protocol. This difference of structure occurs two different protocols for call handling. Recently the need of IMT-2000 is highly increasing, so it is important to analyze the performance of processors and IPC(Inter-Processor Communication) module with structure of BSC and protocol difference. This paper presents the performance comparison of different types of BSC in view of processor utilization, waiting time, queue length and QoS(Quality of Service) through the simulation model.

BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) is a ubiquitous virus residing in the kidney tubules and is clinically significant only in immunocompromised patients. In clinical practice, BKPyV is a causative pathogen of BKPyV-associated nephropathy (BKVAN) in kidney allograft recipients or hemorrhagic cystitis of hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. Currently, there is no effective treatment for BKVAN; therefore, careful monitoring and prudent modification of immunosuppression are necessary to prevent BKVAN. In this article, the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and current management strategies for BKVAN are reviewed.
