  • The purpose of this study is to suggest a actual conditions and expert's role on the green tourism in rural community. There are four types of green tourism in rural villages. It is an alternative tourism that has naturalism and sustainability, not mass tourism. I can find it is a one of the new rural development method in a point of view of rural people's income. Green tourism requires a participation of village peoples. So, management hang on not government office, but village people themselves. By surveying green tourism villages in the case of this study, I propose a few results as follow; firstly, green tourism of Korea will give an innovation to stagnant rural society. Secondly, rural people themselves must participate directly in development and guidance, when every programs are advanced. Thirdly, through this project of green tourism, we expect that urban and rural symbiosisically have a network.

By the way, social welfare services is less available and accessible to the rural elderly. And we have very limited information about community -oriented welfare services for the elderly. The lack of social welfare services in rural area resulted from mainly geographic isolation and economic deprivation. So, the present research aimed at; 1) to explore what the social welfare service is benefited from governmental or local assembly. 2) to explore what kind of community services is provided for the rural village and elderly. 3) to appear the political propose for the rural elderly. In South Korea, The Rural Development Administration currently operate 'villages which is supported special programs for the improvement of QOL of rural elderly' in 110 villages. It is a model governmental welfare service for rural area. For the purpose, the survey data is gathered from community level data per village (107 villages), individual survey data(881people) who live in the village and qualitative data. Two kinds of quantitative data is combined to form a data. The statistical methods used for data analysis are descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA. The major findings of this study were as follows : It was founded that the majority family type of the rural elderly is elderly-only households(75%). In case of poor elderly, they have very limited social insurance benefit and they can not get medical services with satisfaction. The result show that the welfare facilities per village and welfare service for the elderly is extremely low while the needs of welfare service is greate high. A distinctive characteristics in rural villages is that they receive a lot of services from private sectors, like as Women Farmers Union, Adult Union. They operate voluntary welfare services related to food supporting, education for the elderly, free haircut services and so on. In conclusion, the community care services from private sector has specialty in rural area. We conclude it is a distinguishing characteristic of rural community.

  • There have been some reports on schistosomiasis of school children in Sudan's Nile River basin area; however, information about the infection status of Schistosoma species and intestinal helminths among village residents of this area is very limited. Urine and stool samples were collected from the 1,138 residents of the Al Hidaib and Khour Ajwal villages of White Nile State, Sudan in 2014. The prevalence of overall schistosomiasis and intestinal helminthiasis was 36.3% and 7.7%, respectively. Egg positive rates were 35.6% for Schistosoma haematobium, 2.6% for S. mansoni, and 1.4% were mixed. The prevalence of schistosomiasis was significantly higher in men (45.6%) than in women (32.0%), in Khou Ajwal villagers (39.4%) than in Al Hidaib villagers (19.2%), and for age groups ${\leq}15$ years old (51.5%) than for age groups >15 years old (13.2%). The average number of eggs per 10 ml urine (EP10) of S. haematobium infections was 18.9, with 22.2 eggs in men vs 17.0 in women and 20.4 in Khou Ajwal villagers vs 8.1 in Al Hidaib villagers. In addition to S. mansoni eggs, 4 different species of intestinal helminths were found in the stool, including Hymenolepis nana (6.6%) and H. diminuta (1.0%). Collectively, urinary schistosomiasis is still prevalent among village residents in Sudan's White Nile River basin and was especially high in men, children ${\leq}15$ years, and in the village without a clean water system. H. nana was the most frequently detected intestinal helminths in the 2 villages.

  • Data from a village household dairy survey was compared with technical parameters of three model farms (0.2, 0.4 and 0.8 ha in extent) established by the Mid-country Livestock Development Centre (MLDC). In terms of land size, about 67% of the 250 dairy farmers interviewed corresponded with the MLDC models, but only 33% of the farmers were keeping dairy cattle under conditions comparable to the MLDC models (no regular off-farm income). In the 0.2 ha category, village farmers kept more cows, and in the other two categories the village farmers kept less cows than their MLDC model counterparts. In all three categories, the milk production per cow was higher in the model farms (1540 to 2137 vs. 1464 to 1508 litres/cow/year), and this could be attributed to higher feeding levels of concentrates in the model farms as compared to the village farmers (430 to 761 vs. 233 to 383 kg/cow/year). The amount of milk produced from fodder was higher in the village situation in comparison to the models. In the mid country, dairy production seems to depend on access to fodder resources rather than on the extent of land owned. Except in the 0.8 ha village category, the highest contribution to the total income was made by the dairy component (44 to 60%). With 0.8 ha village farmers, the income contribution from dairy and crops was similar (41%). Income from other livestock was important for the 0.2 ha MLDC model, but for all other categories their contribution to total income ranged from 0 to 10%. Access to fodder resources outside own-farm land is vital for economic dairy production. As such, an in-depth analysis of feed resources available and their accessibility needs to be further investigated.

  • This study aims at analyzing of residents'attitudes and spatial structures in the rural villages reconstructed by the Rural Village Improvement Project(type A), and suggesting the guiding directions for planning rural villages. Six rural villages located in KyungGi province were selected for case study. The Major findings can be summarized as follows : 1) The ratio of type A project(newly planned village) in the total cases of the Rural Village Improvement Project has increased since 1990, In the majority(91.2%) of the type A project, the project area is below 2 ha and density of dwelling unit is below 40 households/ha. 2) The three spatial structures of newly planned rural village, i.e., Loop pattern, Cul-de-sac pattern, and Dendritic pattern, are identified. And the barns in the newly-build houses are categorized into the five types : the vertical addition type, the horizontal addition type, the vertical- horizontal addition type, the no- barn type, and the reused -barn type. 3) In the newly planned rural villages, the level of satisfactions for the quality of house and water & sewer system is remarkably higher than in the existing rural villages. These are the positive effects caused by the Rural Village Improvement Project. 4) The majority of the villagers think the improvement of the existing rural village, instead of redevelopment or newly planned village, is most desirable, which means the improvement of houses, roads, and sanitary facilities while preserving the spatial structures of the existing village.
