Reliability Analysis of Arcing Measurement System Between Pantograph and Contact Wire (팬터그래프-전차선간 아크 검측 장치의 신뢰성 분석)

  • The current collection between pantograph and contact wire is a more critical component for need to train speed up in electric railway. The basic purpose of this paper is to establish a measure of determining arc by developing an arc detector assessment system. The system was designed under conditions of EN 50317 and simulations were conducted using the developed device. According to the results, it was possible to conduct certification tests following regulations of international standards. To check the validity of our approach for the intended application, we analysis contact loss of catenary system using developed arcing measurement system in Korea. The proposed arcing measurement system is expected to enhance precision of current collection quality performance assessment methods at high-speed lines and conventional lines.

  • Mostof existing CAD systems do not provide the advanced function for systematic checking of design and drafting errors in mechanical drawings. We have reported a computer aided drawing check system to single plane projection drawings made by a CAD system. This paper describes a checking method of dimensioning errors in mechanical drawings. The checking items are deficiency and redundancy of dimensions, input-errors in dimension figures and symbols, etc. Checking for deficiency and redundancy of global dimensions has been performed applying Graph Theory. This system has been applied to several examples and we have confirmed the feasibility of this checking method.

  • In this study, The mean weld current is used to correct depth direction, and weight-value, specially devised to check right-left deviation by placing more weight on the left- and right-most part of weld current during weaving, to correct weaving direction. The methodology of “design of experiments” was introduced to find out dorminant weld parameters affecting these for values.

  • One of the methods to consider the effect of respiratory motion of a tumor target in radiotherapy is to establish a treatment plan with the internal target volume (ITV) created based on an accurate analysis of the target motion displacement. When this method is applied to intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), it is expected to yield a different treatment dose distribution under the motion condition according to the IMRT method. In this study, we prepared ITV-based IMRT plans with conventional IMRT using fixed gantry angle beams, RapidArc using volumetric modulated arc therapy, and tomotherapy using helical therapy. Then, the variation in dose distribution caused by the target motion was analyzed by the dose measurement in the actual motion condition. A delivery quality assurance plan was prepared for the established IMRT plan and the dose distribution in the actual motion condition was measured and analyzed using a two-dimensional diode detector placed on a moving phantom capable of simulating breathing movements. The dose measurement was performed considering only a uniform target shape and motion in the superior-inferior (SI) direction. In this condition, it was confirmed that the error of the dose distribution due to the target motion is minimum in tomotherapy. This is thought to be due to the characteristic of tomotherapy that treats the target sequentially by dividing it into several slices. When the target shape is uniform and the main target motion direction is SI, it is considered that tomotherapy for the ITV-based IMRT method has a characteristic which can reduce the dose difference compared with the plan dose under the target motion condition.

Research about Hyperspectral Imaging System for Pre-Clinical testing of Small Animal (소형동물 전임상실험을 위한 하이퍼스펙트럼 영상장비 연구)

  • In this study we have developed a hyperspectrum imaging system for highly sensitive and effective imaging analysis. An optical setup was designed using acoustic optical tunable filter (AOTF) for high sensitive hyperspectrum imaging. Light emitted by mercury lamp gets split in to diffracted and undiffracted beams while passing though AOTF. GFP transfected HEK-293 cell line was used as a model for in vitro imaging analysis. Cells were first, analyzed by fluorescence microscope followed by flow cytometric analysis. Flow cytometric analysis showed 66.31% transfection yield in GFP transfected HEK-293 cells. Various images of GFP transfected HEK-293 cell were grabbed by collecting the diffracted light using a CCD over a dynamic range of frequency of 129-171 MHz with an interval of 3 MHz. Subsequently, for in vivo image analysis of GFP transfected cells in mouse, a whole-body-imaging system was constructed. The blue light of 488 nm wavelength was obtained from a Xenon arc lamp using an appropriate filter and transmitted through an optical cable to a ring illuminator. To check the efficacy of the newly developed whole-body-imaging system, a comparative imaging analysis was performed on a normal mouse in presence and absence of Xenon arc irradiation. The developed hyperspectrum imaging analysis with AOTF showed the highest intensity of green fluorescent protein at 153 MHz of frequency and 494 nm of wavelength. However, the fluorescence intensity remained same as that of the background below 138 MHz (475 nm) and above 162 MHz (532 nm). The mouse images captured using the constructed whole-body-imaging system appeared monochromatic in absence of Xenon arc irradiation and blue when irradiated with Xenon arc lamp. Nevertheless, in either case mouse images appeared clearly.

  • Using ArcGIS Model Builder, with emphasis on the importance of ecology and user friendliness, a model for site selecting tool is developed. This tool is developed by establishing standardized method for data selection and analysis with evaluation criteria using GIS. For this task, our first action was to objectively define and establish 18 elements to evaluate the potentiality of the site based on extensive literature reviews. These 18 elements reflect environmental, social/cultural and legal aspects that may influence the decision process to select the desired site. Secondly, using ArcGIS Model Builder, 18 analytical elements were made into thematic mapping which represent systematically organized graphic input to the model with automatic double check system and overlay analysis capability. Thirdly, to validate the effectiveness of the developed model, site location analysis was performed using the actual site, Buk-ku, Pohang.

Evaluation of the Usefulness of MapPHAN for the Verification of Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy Planning (용적세기조절회전치료 치료계획 확인에 사용되는 MapPHAN의 유용성 평가)

  • Purpose: Latest linear accelerator and the introduction of new measurement equipment to the agency that the introduction of this equipment in the future, by analyzing the process of confirming the usefulness of the preparation process for applying it in the clinical causes some problems, should be helpful. Materials and Methods: All measurements TrueBEAM STX (Varian, USA) was used, and a file specific to each energy, irradiation conditions, the dose distribution was calculated using a computerized treatment planning equipment (Eclipse ver 10.0.39, Varian, USA). Measuring performance and cause errors in MapCHECK 2 were analyzed and measured against. In order to verify the performance of the MapCHECK 2, 6X, 6X-FFF, 10X, 10X-FFF, 15X field size $10{\times}10$ cm, gantry $0^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$ direction was measured by the energy.   • Pantograph of the electric train is the important part receiving current by adhereing contact wire. Wearing rate of pantograph or contact wire is changed by the type of pantograph and material of adhering part. In special, the weather influences the relative wearing rate and wearing type of pantograph Slider and Contact wire with steep wearing in arc and life cycle of pantograph slider. Presently, the weather causes side-wearing and over-wearing of pantograph slide installed in electric train. So it is difficult to manage and operate the electric train. Although the quality of slide using in line4 vehicle was finished the test in line 2 vehicle experimentally, it has to apply after pantograph is installed in some electric trains and check the influence in it and contact wire. It is because line4 section is very different from line2 section. Experimental application is the sequence to certify the safety and abrasion resistance importantly by enlarging experimental application with increase of the experimental electric train. The lenth of line4 in Seoul Metro is 71.5[km]. It is long section. The line is mixed DC 1,500[V] section and AC 25,000[V] section. It has underground section of 41.5[km] and ground section of 30[km]. Ground section is about 42% and receives much influence in the rain during the rainy season. After experimental application we found that this pantograph slide has twice as much abrasion resistance despite a little deviation and found the occurrence probability of arc and side-wearing is decreased considerably.

Neuro-Fuzzy System for Predicting Optimal Weld Parameters of Horizontal Fillet welds

  • To get the appropriate welding process variables, mathematical modeling in conjunction with many experiments is necessary to predict the magnitude of weld bead shape. Even though the experimental results are reliable, it has a difficulty in accurately predicting welding process variables for the desired weld bead shape because of nonlinear and complex characteristics of welding processes. The welding condition determined for the desired weld bead shape may cause the weld defect if the welding current/voltage/speed combination is improperly selected. In this study, the $2^{n-1}$ fractional factorial design method and correlation parameter were used to investigate the effect of the welding process variables on the fillet joint shape, and the multiple non-linear regression analysis was used for modeling the gas metal arc welding(GMAW)parameters of the fillet joint. Finally, a fuzzy rule-based method and a neural network method were proposed so that the complexity and non-linearity of arc welding phenomena could be effectively overcome. The performance of the proposed neuro-fuzzy system was evaluated through various experiments. The experimental results showed that the proposed neuro-fuzzy system could effectively check the welding conditions as to whether or not weld defects would occur, and also adjust the welding conditions to avoid these weld defects.

Usefulness Evaluation on the Treatment Plan of Tomotherapy and VMAT in Radiotherapy for Prostate Cancer (전립선암의 방사선치료에서 토모테라피와 VMAT의 치료계획에 따른 유용성 평가)

  • In this study, to evaluate the usefulness of the treatment plan of tomotherapy and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) in the radiotherapy for prostate cancer, the absorbed dose, dose volume histogram (DVH), treatment efficiency, and the results of dose verification accuracy using MapCHECK2 were compared and analyzed. Of the prostate cancer patients who underwent tomotherapy treatment in the Radiologic Oncology of H University Hospital between July 2014 and December 2014, 12 patients were randomly selected. As a result of analyzing the absorbed dose and DVH, both radiologic treatment plans showed slight differences in the treatment of the cancer tissues and the bladder, but the difference was in the error range of -5% to +3%, and did not exceed the side effect guideline or the tolerance dose limit. VMAT showed higher treatment efficiency than tomotherapy with a 2.5 times shorter treatment time and a 10.3 times less monitor unit (MU). Both showed 95% or higher dose accuracy satisfying the standard. VMAT showed 2.3% higher efficiency than tomotherapy. In both tomotherapy and VMAT, appropriate doses were absorbed for cancer tissues, and did not exceed the tolerance dose for normal tissues showing no significant difference in dose distribution. However, considering the shorter treatment time, lower total MU, and better treatment efficiency and dose verification accuracy, VMAT may be more useful than tomotherapy in cancer treatments.
