This study examined the effects of store density levels on consumers'crowding perception and the effects of perceived retail crowding on consumer emotions and in turn shopping behavior. In addition, the study investigated the effects of perceived price value and store type on the segmented dimensions of perceived retail crowding. Results of an experimental test with 3 density levels and 2 store types confirmed the effects of density on social crowding and spatial crowding. While social crowding positively affected arousal, spatial crowding negatively did pleasure which in turn affected approach-avoidance behavior. Though two store types showed the same pattern in such relationships, the effect of perceived price value on retail crowding was different by store type.
This study examined how pre-service elementary teachers' perceptions regarding the learning environment (learning focus/ability-meritocracy/cooperative climate) and achievement goals (mastery/performance-approach/performance-avoidance) in science education courses jointly contributed to their science teaching efficacy beliefs (personal science teaching efficacy belief/science teaching outcome expectancy). A path analysis supported a causal model in which the perception of the learning focus influenced the mastery goal, which in turn influenced the personal science teaching efficacy belief and science teaching outcome expectancy. The perception of learning focus also had a direct effect on science teaching outcome expectancy. The perception of ability-meritocracy influenced personal science teaching efficacy belief via the performance-approach (positively) or, conversely, the performance-avoidance goal (negatively). No link .was deduced from the perception of cooperative climate. The educational implications of these findings were also discussed.
We formulated the multi-robot trajectory problem into a series of NLP problem, each of which is that of finding the optimal tip positions of the robots for the next time step. The NLP problem is composed of an objective function and three constraints, namely: a) Joint position limits, b) Joint velocity limits, and c) Collision-avoidance constraints. By solving a series of NLP problem, optimally coordinated trajectories can be determined without requiring any prior path information. This is a novel departure from the previous approach in which either all paths or at least one path is assumed to be given. Practical application of the developed method is for optimal synthesis of multiple robot trajectories in off-line. To test the validity and effectiveness of the method, numerical examples are illustrated.

The dynamic window approach(DWA) is a well known technique for reactive collision avoidance. It shows safe and efficient performance in real-world experiments. However, a robot can get stuck in local minima because no information about the connectivity of the free space is used to determine the motion. The global DWA can solve this problem of local minima by adding a navigation function. Even with the global DWA, it is still difficult for a robot to execute an abrupt change in its direction, for example, entering from the corridor to a doorway. This paper proposes a modified global DWA using the included angles of waypoints extracted from an optimal path. This scheme enables the robot to decelerate in advance before turning into the doorway. Therefore the robot can reach the goal position more safely and efficiently at high speeds.

This paper presents a local obstacle avoidance method for indoor mobile robots using Lane method and velocity Space Command approach. The method locates local obstacles using the information form multi-sensors, such that ultrasonic sensor array and laser scanning sensor. The method uses lane method to determine optimum collision-free heading direction of a robot. Also, it deals with the robot motion dynamics problem to reduce some vibration and guarantee fast movement as well. It yields translational and rotational velocities required to avoid the detected obstacles and to keep the robot heading direction toward goal location as close as possible. For experimental verification of the method, a mobile robot driven by two AC servo motors, equipped with 24 ultrasonic sensor array and laser scanning sensor navigates using the method through a corridor cluttered with obstacle.

A mathematical approach to solving the time-varying obstacle avoidance problem is pursued. The mathematical formulation of the problem is given in robot joint space(JS). View-time concept is used to deal with time-varying obstacles. The view-time is the period in which a time-varying obstacles. The view-time is the period in which a time-varying obstacle is viewed and approximated by an equivalent stationary obstacle. The equivalent stationary obstacle is the volume swept by the time-varying obstacle for the view-time. The swept volume is transformed into the JS obstacle that is the set of JS robot configurations causing the collision between the robot and the swept volume. In JS, the path avoiding the JS obstacle is planned, and a trajectory satisfying the constraints on robot motion planning is planned along the path. This method is applied to the collision-free motion planning of two SCARA robots, and the simulation results are given.
This study presents a novel safe landing algorithm for urban drone deliveries. The rapid advancement of drone technology has given rise to various delivery services for everyday necessities and emergency relief efforts. However, the reliability of drone delivery technology is still insufficient for application in urban environments. The proposed approach uses the "landing angle control" method to allow the drone to land vertically and a rapidly exploring random tree-based collision avoidance algorithm to generate safe and efficient vertical landing paths for drones while avoiding common urban obstacles like trees, street lights, utility poles, and wires; these methods allow for precise and reliable urban drone delivery. We verified the approach within a Gazebo simulation operated through ROS using a six-degree-of-freedom drone model and sensors with similar specifications to actual models. The performance of the algorithms was tested in various scenarios by comparing it with that of stateof-the-art 3D path planning algorithms.
Significant increase of container flows in the marine terminals requires more efficient port equipments such as logistic and transfer systems. This paper presents collision avoidance and routing approach based on dynamic programming (DP) algorithm for a linear motor based shuttle car which is considered as a new transfer system in the port terminals. Most of routing problems are focused on automatic guided vehicle (AGV) systems, but its solutions are hardly utilized for LM based shuttle cars since both are mechanically different. Our proposed DP is implemented for real-time searching of an optimal path for each shuttle car in the Agile port terminal located at California in USA.

Evaluating the risk of collision quantitatively plays a key role in developing the expert system of navigation and collision avoidance. This study analysed thoroughly how to determine the thresholds as described in the new evaluation of collision risk using sech function, and developed the appropriate equation as applicable.

The navigation algorithms enable autonomous mobile robots to reach given target points without collision against obstacles. To achieve safe navigations in unknown environments, this paper presents an effective navigation algorithm for the autonomous mobile robots with ultrasonic sensors. The proposed navigation algorithm consists of an obstacle-avoidance behavior, a target-reaching behavior and a fuzzy-based decision maker. In the obstacle-avoidance behavior and the target-reaching behavior, artificial immune networks are used to select a proper steering angle, make the autonomous mobile robot avoid obstacles and approach a given target point. The fuzzy-based decision maker combines the steering angles from the target-reaching behavior and the obstacle-avoidance behavior in order to steer the autonomous mobile robot appropriately. Simulational and experimental results show that the proposed navigation algorithm is very effective in unknown environments.
