  • The utilization and integration of different reading technologies has increased exponentially in recent years with no limits in the foreseeable future. This is no surprise, as the versatility of new technology devices makes information accessible at any minute of any day anywhere in the world. The possible reading uses for such devices are immeasurable, and have already seen widespread usage by readers all over the country. While these statements are more or less obvious, more research must be conducted to discover which means are the most effective and why. This study aims to provide a basic framework for analyzing the organization and quality of mobile application devices for reading comprehension purposes. The study also hopes to highlight and/or clarify more effective reading means with differing technologies.

  • The purpose of this study is to change the perspective of reading culture promotion and future-oriented through analysis of readers' reading behavior that evolved by changing reading media such as e-books and various media, providing access to reading in 5G-enabled daily life, and communicating in various ways. The task of promoting reading culture was presented as follows. (1) Accurate research on readers and non-readers should be conducted. (2) In addition to accurate recognition of reading media, a multi-faceted model for reading behavior should be prepared. (3) It is necessary to quickly understand the trend of readers' reading behavior. (4) Finally, it is urgent to develop 'reading' related applications in the public domain.

  • In this paper, I studied on reading instruction in the school library. Reading instruction is a very important role of school library. And it is an essential element of school education. In this paper, I tried an application of constructivism for reading instruction. Information literacy instruction of school library includes reading instruction. So the pattern of information literacy instruction of school library was accepted as reading instruction pattern of school library in this paper. And then constructivism for learning principle and reading strategies as reading instruction was analyzed in this paper. Gerard J. Westhoff categorized reading strategies into 4 parts. I applied this categorization of reading strategies to the reading instruction pattern. And I analyzed and synthesized these relative constructivism elements and reading strategies for the reading instruction pattern in this paper.

  • This research analyzed the effect of activity-centered reading band on Korean fairy tales on children's reading attitude and comprehension. The reading altitude of the experimental-group children exhibited more meaningful change in such subordinate areas as academic reading attitude. The academic reading attitude of the male experimental-group had higher improvement than that of the female experimental-group. In addition, the reading comprehension scores of the experimental-group children were higher than those of the control-group children. The reading program effects on reading comprehension were more meaningful in girls in the experimental group than boys in the group. Therefore, the results of this study have demonstrated the necessity of the development and application of a Korean fairy tales program for reading and an activity-centered reading program.

  • The purpose of this study was to establish a Korean reading ability assessment category based on a reading comprehension theory, and to establish an evaluation framework for Korean reading ability after creating the evaluation factors corresponding to each category through expert Delphi survey. The three levels of reading comprehension that were constructed are the following: language knowledge, text comprehension, and interpretation and comprehension of new ideas and application. This study suggested that constructs of Korean reading assessment reflected reading theory. This study has meaningful consequences which suggest verified constructs through Delphi surveys.

  • In this study of the relationship between preschoolers' visual perception and reading Hangul words, the 287 participants showed significant developmental change in visual perception between three to five years of age. The researcher developed the computer-based screening Test of Visual Perception for Reading (TVPR). Factor analysis confirmed three factors of TVPR : perception of number, direction, and form constancy. These factors correlated highly with four factors of motor-reduced visual perception of the Korean Developmental Test of Visual Perception (Moon et al. 2003). All factors of TVPR explained reading real words and pseudo words; direction and form constancy perception predicted reading low frequency letters. These findings confirm that preschoolers' skills in visual perception contribute to the reading of words in Hangul.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to identify changes in reading ability among children with Borderline Intelligence by applying an electronic media reading training protocol. Methods : A picture book reading training protocol was applied to 10 childrens with borderline intelligence using electronic media to improve reading skills. This protocol was performed for 10 session once a week. After the analysis of the content validity index about the protocol presented in this study, this prococol was applied to the subjects. To analyze the changes of the reading ability for the subjects, KNISE-BAAT type A and B reading test were used. Results : According to the tests taken before and after implementing, the Application of Picture Booking Training Protocol using Electronic Media there was a significant improvement in Reading ability (Understanding words, Completion sentence, Vocabulary selection, Vocabulary arrangement, Understanding short text). However, there was no significant difference in Oral Reading. Conclusion : Application of Picture Booking Training Protocol using Electronic Media may be used as a beneficial measure to improve the reading abilities of children with Borderline Intellectual.

  • A communication protocol for automatic meter reading is designed for electronic power meter. Communicational functions and data structures are standardized and data reading software is developed according to the developed protocol. The communication protocol is designed with reference specifications, IEC 62056-31 and Distributed Network Protocol(DNP). For design, communicational functions and specifications of the industrial meters were analyzed for the purpose of developing a new one for KEPCO meters. The protocol is designed with 3 layer model, physical layers, data link layer and application layer. A documentation was completed with data gathering, data classification, authentication, error detection. An emulator system was made for testing the protocol. A meter reading software was developed using the protocol. Many different protocols and meter reading softwares are integrated into one with the developed protocol and software as KEPCO's standard.

  • Recently, with the development of digital, children are exposed to a lot of media media. Reading activity decreases, making it difficult to acquire information from books or organize and remember acquired information. Since education with augmented reality increases children's participation and immersion in learning, we proposed a reading activity application with augmented reality technology to increase children's reading interest and creativity. In addition, based on the five nurturing processes, we designed a play-oriented reading activity for the application. In addition to the application suggestions, we designed a play-centered lesson model so that it can be used in actual lessons. In order to analyze the conceptual thinking framework according to the lesson model design, we visited an actual daycare center and conducted a class attended by an expert. Experts who participated were asked to fill out a pre-produced questionnaire to review the suitability of the reading activity class model and operation, and the feasibility was examined. Our lesson model design was based on limited book content, and due to ethical concerns, large-scale experiments with children could not be conducted, so the results of the study are not representative of the whole. However, it is significant that the possibility of running a new reading activity class based on the Nuri course has been examined and proposed.

  • This study investigates the efficacy of metacognitive strategy instruction and private speech promotion strategy instruction on the inferential and critical reading skills of middle school students, considering the role of working memory. While existing literature has established that general metacognitive strategies can enhance learning outcomes, such approaches may neglect content knowledge and inadvertently lead to a mechanistic application of strategies. Grounded in Vygotsky's cultural-historical theory, which posits that private speech plays an important role in cognitive development in subject matters, this research addresses a gap regarding the impact of private speech promotion on English reading comprehension. The study yielded several key findings. Firstly, students with higher working memory capacity demonstrated superior performance compared to their peers with lower working memory. Secondly, participants receiving strategy instruction exhibited significantly enhanced inferential and critical reading skills compared to those in a general instruction group. Notably, the private verbal facilitation strategy instruction group outperformed the metacognitive strategy instruction group in these areas. Finally, an interaction effect was observed between the types of strategy instruction and the visuospatial sketchpad's influence on critical reading skills.
