  • There has been a rapid growth in the development of mobile application resulting from its wide usage for online transaction, data storage and exchange of information. However, an important issue that has been overlooked is the lack of emphasis on the security issues at the early stage of the development. In fact, security issues have been kept until the later stage of the implementation of mobile apps. Requirements engineers frequently ignore and incorrectly elicit security related requirements at the early stage of mobile application development. This scenario has led to the failure of developing secure and safe mobile application based on the needs of the users. As such, this paper intends to provide further understanding of the real challenges in extracting security attributes for mobile application faced by novice requirements engineers. For this purpose, two experiments on eliciting security attributes requirements of textual requirements scenario were conducted. The performance related to the correctness and time taken to elicit the security attributes were measured and recorded. It was found that the process of eliciting correct security attributes for mobile application requires effort, knowledge and skills. The findings indicate that an automated tool for correct elicitation security attributes requirement could help to overcome the challenges in eliciting security attributes requirements, especially among novice requirements engineers.

  • Security threats are increasing with interest due to the mass spread of smart devices, and vulnerabilities in developed applications are being exposed while mobile malicious codes are spreading. The government and companies provide various applications for the public, and for reliability and security of applications, security checks are required during application development. In this paper, among the security threats that can occur in the mobile service environment, we set up the vulnerability analysis items to respond to security threats when developing Android-based applications. Based on the set analysis items, vulnerability analysis was performed by examining three applications of public institutions and private companies currently operating as mobile applications. As a result of application security checks used by three public institutions and companies, authority management and open module stability management were well managed. However, it was confirmed that many security vulnerabilities were found in input value verification, outside transmit data management, and data management. It is believed that it will contribute to improving the safety of mobile applications through the case of vulnerability analysis for Android application security.

  • Most of protecting security activity is carried out by manpower partly by security equipment. The protecting security market and the area of protecting security activity is increasing in spite of change of economic and social environment situation. For more effective protecting security activity, the coordination of electronic equipment and manpower is required. So some application method is suggested throughout the thesis, which is especially focused on new approaching method. The integration of intrusion detecting system, C.C.TV system and Access control system is introduced for general application in chapter III, and some application systems are proposed for protecting security activity in chapter IV. But the security equipment is only aid for manpower, so manpower and equipment should be coordinated well.

  • A web application that allows a web service created by a internal developer who has security awareness show certain level of security. However, in the case of development by outsourcing, it is inevitable to implement the development centered on requested function rather than the issue of security. Thus in this paper, we improve the software testing process focusing on security for exclusion the leakage of important information and using an unauthorized service that results from the use of the vulnerable web application. The proposed model is able to consider security in the initial stage of development even when outsourced web application, especially, It can prevent the development schedule delay caused by the occurrence of modification for program created by programer who has low security awareness. This result shows that this model can be applied to the national defense area for increasing demand web application centered resource management system to be able to prevent service of web application with security vulnerability based on high test.

  • Due to the rapid growth of smartphone market, the security threats are also increased. One of the smartphone security threats is that w1Verified applications are distributed on the smartphone market. In the case of Andoroid market, Google have no Application Approval Process that can detect malicious android application so many malicious android applications are distributed in the Android market. To reduce this security threat, it is essential the skill to detect the malicious activities of application. In this paper, we propose the android application analysis method for malicious activity detection and we introduce the implementation of our method which can automatically analyze the android application.

  • The purpose of the study is to contribute to the positive development of blockchain technology by providing data to examine security vulnerabilities and threats to blockchain-based services and review countermeasures. The findings of this study are as follows. Threats to the security of blockchain-based services can be classified into application security threats, smart contract security threats, and network (P2P) security threats. First, application security threats include wallet theft (e-wallet stealing), double spending (double payment attack), and cryptojacking (mining malware infection). Second, smart contract security threats are divided into reentrancy attacks, replay attacks, and balance increasing attacks. Third, network (P2P) security threats are divided into the 51% control attack, Sybil attack, balance attack, eclipse attack (spread false information attack), selfish mining (selfish mining monopoly), block withholding attack, DDoS attack (distributed service denial attack) and DNS/BGP hijacks. Through this study, it is possible to discuss the future plans of the blockchain technology-based ecosystem through understanding the functional characteristics of transparency or some privacy that can be obtained within the blockchain. It also supports effective coping with various security threats.

  • AAA(Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) protocol is a framework that propose functions of AAA on multiple networks and platforms. AAA protocol is extending from previous RADIUS protocol to Diameter protocol. There are some Diameter applications for variety purpose. Diameter CMS Application makes Diameter messages more secure by using PKI. Diameter CMS Application establish DSA(Diameter Security Association) for end to end security. However the Application has some problems to establish DSA(Diameter Security Association), which can make Diameter system unstable. If one system lose DSA information for some system error - for example, reboot -, the secure communication between two nodes may not be possible. At the application such as MIP, even user registration can't be done. In this paper, we propose a mechannism for DSA re-establishment, and also show the result of the implementation.

  • To achieve web application security goals effectively by providing web security features such as information leakage prevention, web application firewall system must be able to achieve the goal of enhancing web site security and providing secure services. Therefore, it is necessary to study the security evaluation of web application firewall system based on related standards. In this paper, we analyze the requirements of the base technology and security quality of web application firewall, and established the security evaluation criteria based on the international standards for software product evaluation. Through this study, it can be expected that the security quality level of the web application firewall system can be confirmed and the standard for enhancing the quality improvement can be secured. As a future research project, it is necessary to continuously upgrade evaluation standards according to international standards that are continuously changing.

  • In this paper, we present an application layer protocol to support secure wireless Internet services, called Application Layer Security(ALS). The drawbacks of the two traditional approaches to secure wireless applications motivated the development of ALS. One is that in the conventional application-specific security protocol such as Secure HyperText Transfer Protocol(S-HTTP), security mechanism is included in the application itself. This gives a disadvantage that the security services are available only to that particular application. The other is that a separate protocol layer is inserted between the application and transport layers, as in the Secure Sockets Layer(SSL)/Transport Layer Security(TLS). In this case, all channel data are encrypted regardless of the specific application's requirements, resulting in much waste of network resources. To overcome these problems, ALS is proposed to be implemented on top of HTTP so that it is independent of the various transport layer protocols, and provides a common security interface with security applications so that it greatly improves the portability of security applications. In addition, since ALS takes advantages of well-known TLS mechanism, it eliminates the danger of malicious attack and provides applications with various security services such as authentication, confidentiality integrity and digital signature, and partial encryption. We conclude this paper with an example of applying ALS to the solution of end-to-end security in a present commercial wireless protocol stack, Wireless Application Protocol.

  • Location-based services or LBS refer to value-added service by processing information utilizing mobile user location. With the rapidly increasing wireless Internet subscribers and world LBS market, the various location based applications are introduced such as buddy finder, proximity and security services. As the killer application of the wireless Internet, the LBS have reconsidered technology about location determination technology, LBS middleware server for various application, and diverse contents processing technology. However, there are fears that this new wealth of personal location information will lead to new security risks, to the invasion of the privacy of people and organizations. This paper describes a novel security approach on open LBS service to validate certificate based on current LBS platform environment using XKMS (XML Key Management Specification) and SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language), XACML (extensible Access Control Markup Language) in XML security mechanism.
