  • Munitions must be analyzed to identify any risks for quality assurance in development and mass production. Risk identification for parts, compositions, and systems is carried out through failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) as one of the most reliable methods. FMEA is a design tool for the failure mode of risk identification and relies on the RPN (risk priority number). FMEA has disadvantages because its severity, occurrence, and detectability are rated at the same level. Fuzzy FMEA applies fuzzy logic to compensate for the shortcomings of FMEA. The fuzzy logic of Fuzzy FMEA is to express uncertainties about the phenomenon and provides quantitative values. In this paper, Fuzzy FMEA is applied to the failure mode of a rotorcraft landing system. The Fuzzy rule and membership functions were conducted in the Fuzzy model to study the RPN in the failure mode of a landing system. This method was selected to demonstrate crisp values of severity, occurrence, and detectability. In addition, the RPN was obtained. The results of Fuzzy FMEA for the landing system were analyzed for the RPN and ranking by fuzzy logic. Finally, Fuzzy FMEA confirmed that it could use the data in quality assurance activities for rotorcraft.

  • In this study, it propose a proof theory method for expressing and reasoning knowledge in a multiagent environment. Since this method determines logical results in a mechanical way, it has developed as a core field from early AI research. However, since the proposition cannot always be proved in any set of closed sentences, in order for the logical result to be determinable, the range of expression is limited to the sentence in the form of a clause. In addition, the resolution principle, a simple and strong reasoning rule applicable only to clause-type sentences, is applied. Also, since the proof theory can be expressed as a meta predicate, it can be extended to the metalogic of the proof theory. Metalogic can be superior in terms of practicality and efficiency based on improved expressive power over epistemic logic of model theory. To prove this, the semantic method of epistemic logic and the metalogic method of proof theory are applied to the Muddy Children problem, respectively. As a result, it prove that the method of expressing and reasoning knowledge and common knowledge using metalogic in a cooperative multiagent environment is more efficient.

  • In this paper, we propose a modification of fuzzy logic based DASH adaptation algorithm(FDASH) for seamless media service in time-varying network conditions. The proposed algorithm selects more appropriate bit-rate for the next segment by the modification of the Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) and reduces the number of video bit-rate changes by applying Segment Bit-rate Filtering Module(SBFM). Also, we apply the Start Mechanism for clients not to watch the low quality videos in the very beginning stage of streaming service and add the Sleeping Mechanism to avoid any buffer overflow expected. Ultimately, we verified by using NS-3 Network Simulator that the proposed method shows better performance compared to FDASH. According to the experimental results, there is no buffer underflow/overflow within the limited buffer size, which is not guaranteed in FDASH on the other hand. Also, we confirmed that mFDASH has almost the same level of average video quality against FDASH and reduces about 50% of number of video bit-rate changes compared to FDASH in Point-to-Point network and Wi-Fi network.

  • The advanced bilateral control algorithm, which can enlarge a reflected force by combining force reflection and compliance control, greatly enhances workability in teleoperation. In this scheme the maximum boundaries of a compliance controller and a force reflection gain guaranteeing stability and good task performance greatly depend upon characteristics of a slave arm, a master arm, and an environment. These characteristics, however, are generally unknown in teleoperation. It is, therefore, very difficult to determine such maximum boundary of the gain. The paper presented a novel method for design of an advanced bilateral controller. The factors affecting task performance and stability in the advanced bilateral controller were analyzed and a design guideline was presented. The neurofuzzy compliance model (NFCM)-based bilateral control proposed herein is an algorithm designed to automatically determine the suitable compliance for a given task or environment. The NFCM, composed of a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) and a rule-learning mechanism, is used as a compliance controller. The FLC generates compliant motions according to contact forces. The rule-learning mechanism, which is based upon the reinforcement learning algorithm, trains the rule-base of the FLC until the given task is done successfully. Since the scheme allows the use of large force reflection gain, it can assure good task performance. Moreover, the scheme does not require any priori knowledge on a slave arm dynamics, a slave arm controller and an environment, and thus, it can be easily applied to the control of any telerobot systems. Through a series of experiments effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been verified.

  • A TANT network is a three-level network composed solely of NAND gates having only true(i.e. uncomplemented) inputs. The paper presents a technique for finding for any given Boolean function a least-cost TANT network. The first step of the technique is to determine essential prime implicants(EPI) by Quine-McCluskey procedure or other methods and generate prime implicants(PI) hving the same head as any one of EPI by consensus operation. The second step is to select common factors among the usable tail factors. The selcetion phase is analogous to the use of C-C table. The last step is to minimize inputs by deleting the redundant PI. the technique permits hand solution of typical five-and six-variable problems.

  • We have developed a Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) type algorithm for designing multi-layered neural networks. The algorithm is general enough that it will accept any number of inputs and any sized training set. Each neuron of the resulting network is a function of two of the inputs to the layer. The equation for each of the neurons is a quadratic polynomial. Several forms of the equation are tested for each neuron to make sure that only the best equation of two inputs is kept. All possible combinations of two inputs to each layer are also tested. By carefully testing each resulting neuron, we have developed an algorithm to keep only the best neurons at each level. The algorithm's goal is to create as accurate a network as possible while minimizing the size of the network. Software was developed to train and simulate networks using our algorithm. Several applications were modeled using our software, and the result was that our algorithm succeeded in developing small, accurate, multi-layer networks.

  • The CCDs are widely used in astronomical observations either in direct imaging use or spectroscopic mode. However, the areas of available sensors are too small for large imaging format. One possibility to obtain large detection area is to assemble mosaics of CCD, and drive them simultaneously. Parallel driving of many CCDs together rules out the possibility of individual tuning; however, such optimisation is very important, when the ultimate low light level performance is required, particularly for new, or mixed devices. In this work, a new concept is explored for an entirely novel approach, where the drive waveforms are multiplexed and interleaved. This simultaneously reduces the number of leadout connections and permits individual optimisation efficiently. The digital controller can be designed within a single EPLD (Erasable Programmable Logic Device) chip produced by a CAD software package, where most of the digital controller circuits are integrated. This method can minimise the component. count., and improve the system efficiency greatly, based on earlier works by Han et a1. (1996, 1994). The system software has an open architecture to permit convenient modification by the user, to fit their specific purposes. Some variable system control parameters can be selected by a user with a wider range of choice. The digital controller design concept allows great flexibility of system parameters by the software, specifically for the compatibility to deal with any number of mixed CCDs, and in any format, within the practical limit.

  • The technology of manufacturing freeform molds with S-LOM based 3D printer has advantages in the production period and the curvature range. However, there is no any support tool about productivity analysis of S-LOM technology because S-LOM technology is early-stage technology. There can be problems about increase of construction time and cost without any decision support tool like productivity analysis models etc. Therefore, in this study, the productivity analysis simulation model for freeform formwork based on S-LOM technology was developed using ARENA software. The process and logic of manufacturing freeform molds can be easily visualized in this model. Futhermore, the resource like labor, equipment and material can be easily optimized with this model. As a result, it can contribute to preventing the increase of construction time and cost in formwork with further productivity analysis.

  • Proportional reasoning is one of the most widely used concepts in everyday life. It could be the most important basic concept in science and mathematics. In research where the subjects were animals, it has been found that learning effect rapidly decreased with any stimulation given after a optimalperiod. Therefore, it is necessary to research about optimal periods in order to instruct about proportional reasoning. The purpose of this study was to investigate the optimal periods in proportional reasoning. The three programs for proportional reasoning instruction were developed by researchers. The titles of the programs were 'Block', 'Balance scale' and 'Water glass'. The subjects were 131 3$^{rd}$ to 6$^{th}$ grade students who were not expected to have any proportional reasoning skills yet. In order to find out the optimal periods in proportional reasoning, the programs were applied to these students. After 4-5 weeks of treatment, the researchers investigated whether their proportional reasoning skills were formed or not through the instrument. The results indicated that it would be most effective to teach proportional reasoning to 6$^{th}$ grade students. Teaching of proportional reasoning is essential not only for mathematics but also for science. The findings could be used to investigate the optimal periods of controlling variables, probability, combinational and correlational logic.

  • As Programmable Logic Controllers(PLCs) are frequently used to implement real-time safety critical software, testing of PLC software is getting more important. We propose a structural testing technique on Function Block Diagram(FBD) which is one of the PLC programming languages. In order to test FBD networks, we define templates for function blocks including timer function blocks and propose an algorithm based on the templates to transform a unit FBD into a flowgraph. We generate test cases by applying existing testing techniques to the generated flowgraph. While the existing FBD testing technique do not consider infernal structure of FBD to generate test cases and can be applied only to FBD from which the specific intermediate model can be generated, this approach has advantages of systematic test case generation considering infernal structure of FBD and applicability to any FBD without regard to its intermediate format. Especially, the proposed method enables FBD networks including timer function blocks to be tested thoroughly. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we use trip logic of bistable processor of digital nuclear power plant protection systems which is being developed in Korea.
