  • This paper presents a design of RFID(Radio Frequency Identification} tag antenna which has high sensitivity for car side mirror. A proposed tag antenna ($154\;mm{\times}66\;mm{\times}1;mm$) resonants at 900 MHz and has a wide bandwidth of 690 MHz($490\;MHz{\sim}1180\;MHz$). The measured gain and readable range of tag antenna are 5.8 dBd and 10 m, respectively. Radiation pattern and readable range of proposed tag antenna located on inside of a side mirror including a car body are measured at anechoic chamber. It has been confirmed that the readable range in the vicinity of $90^{\circ}$ has been expanded about 1.5 m by comparison with one of proposed tag antenna without of car body. Good performance of the proposed tag antenna was observed and proved by comparison of measured results of commercial tag antenna.

  • In this paper, an active antenna module operating in the 60 GHz band is designed and fabricated by combining a commercial transmitter chip and patch array antenna. The designed module is composed of an antenna PCB and a PCB with a transmitter chip. The frequency-control and bias-control signals are applied to the transmitter chip, using an Arduino kit. A baseband I/Q signal is also applied to the chip. A ring hybrid balun converts the output of the transmitter module to a single output, which is the output of the transmitter chip that outputs a differential output. The output is delivered to the $2{\times}4$ microstrip patch array antenna PCB as a micro-computer connector. The radiation pattern of the millimeter-wave signal of the final output is compared with the simulation results. The measured radiation patterns of the fabricated active antenna module confirm that the positions of the 3 dB beam width and null point agree well with the simulation results.

  • In this paper, we proposed a slot-type antenna with microstrip feed embedded in a PCB for Zigbee communication (2.4 ~ 2.484 GHz). The proposed antenna is designed on a FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.3, thickness of 1.6 mm, and size of 50×65 mm2. Through simulations, trends of design parameters are analyzed and optimized, and the proposed antenna composed with three slots satisfy the frequency band. The measured impedance bandwidths (|S11| ≤ -10 dB) of fabricated antenna are 900 MHz (2 ~ 2.9 GHz) in Zigbee frequency band. In addition, the radiation pattern showed omnidirectional characteristics for E and H-planes, and the gain of antenna in Zigbee frequency band was 1.782 dBi.

  • In this paper, we were investigated the detectability on various specimen in self-designed test field using the GPR system with three antenna elements. The GPR system was constantly radiated 730MHz frequency. To examine the detectability on various condition, the test were experimented using different materials, size and buried depth. As an adjusted wave-propagation velocity, the location of hyperbolic curve pattern were displayed B-scan CRT. And the pattern was exactly positioned when it was compared to the real buried-depth. Therefore, we can confirm similarity between the wave-propagation velocity and previous results.

  • The present paper shows that beamforming algorithm such as Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) based on array antenna signal processing can have not only anti-jamming but also anti-spoofing characteristics. A beam pattern due to the beamforming algorithm strengthens received signal power as it is formed in the incident direction of desired signal. During the process, the effect of unnecessary signals such as spoofing signals can be reduced because the beam pattern reduces received signal power in the incident directions excluding the beam pattern-directed direction. In order to analyze the anti-spoofing effect due to the beamforming algorithm, a software-based simulation environment was configured. An arbitrary error was applied between incident direction of Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite signal and steering vector direction of the beamforming algorithm to analyze the received signal power and required conditions were provided to see the anti-spoofing effect due to the beamforming algorithm. The used antenna was 7-element planar circular array and beam patterns were formed through the MVDR algorithm.

  • An improved genetic algorithm was proposed for pattern synthesis of an adaptive beam forming system using phased array antennas. The proposed genetic algorithm is an algorithm that adds acquired characteristics procedure to solve local optimization using the diversity. The performance of the proposed genetic algorithm is verified through the problem of finding a suitable chromosome for a picture composed of binary. And it is confirmed that it is suitable for the adaptive beam forming system based on the performance problem of combining main beam and two pattern nulls.

  • In this paper, radiation pattern of rectangular microstrip patch antenna with anisotropy substrates and superstrate is studied by using a rigorous full-wave approach and a moment method calculation. Dyadic Green's function is derived for selected anisotropy material by constitutive relation. From these results, integral equations of electric fields are formulated. The electric field integral equations are discretized into the matrix form by applying Galerkin's moment method and then the current coefficients are obtained.. After solving the current coefficients, the far-zone electric field in spherical coordinates can be obtained by using the stationary phase method. To verify the validity of numerical result, we compare our result with existing one and get a good agreement between them. From the numerical results, the radiation patterns for variation of uniaxial superstrate thickness, anisotropy ratio of substrate and superstrate layer are presented and analyzed.

  • We present two effects of the case currents of a mobile phone on changing the radiation pattern of a PIFA and on enhancing the bandwidth of the monopole antenna. In order to change the radiation pattern, a modification of the ground plane is suggested to suppress the back radiation. The resulting gain is higher than that of a conventional PIFA by 0.5 dB. For enhancing the bandwidth, two parasitic metallic lines are added in the direction orthogonal to the monopole to induce double resonances. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed structure is 341 MHz, which is nearly twice of that of the conventional monopole.

  • The High-Frequency Radar (HFR) is an equipment designed to measure real-time surface ocean currents in broad maritime areas. It emits radio waves at a specific frequency (HF) towards the sea surface and analyzes the backscattered waves to measure surface current vectors (Crombie, 1955; Barrick, 1972).The Seasonde HF Radar from Codar, utilized in this study, determines the speed and location of radial currents by analyzing the Bragg peak intensity of transmitted and received waves from an omnidirectional antenna and employing the Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm. The generated currents are initially considered ideal patterns without taking into account the characteristics of the observed electromagnetic wave propagation environment. To correct this, Antenna Pattern Measurement (APM) is performed, measuring the strength of signals at various positions received by the antenna and calculating the corrected measured vector to radial currents. The APM principle involves modifying the position and phase information of the currents based on the measured signal strength at each location. Typically, experiments are conducted by installing an antenna on a ship (Kim et al., 2022). However, using a ship introduces various environmental constraints, such as weather conditions and maritime situations. To reduce dependence on maritime conditions and enhance economic efficiency, this study explores the possibility of using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) for APM. The research conducted APM experiments using a high-frequency radar installed at Dangsa Lighthouse in Dangsa-ri, Wando County, Jeollanam-do. The study compared and analyzed the results of APM experiments using ships and drones, utilizing the calculated radial currents and surface current fields obtained from each experiment.
