양이온성 계면활성제 거품 지속성 증진방법 연구 (Enhancement in Stability of Foam Generated with Cationic Surfactant Solutions)

  • 계면활성제 거품(foam)을 아예 형성하지 못하거나 foam 지속도가 매우 낮은 양이온성 계면활성제의 foam 지속성을 높이는 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 음이온성 계면활성제를 보조제로 첨가하는 방법, 콜로이드를 혼합하는 방법, 수용성 수지인 폴리비닐알콜을 첨가하는 방법 등 다양한 시도를 평가하였다. 각 5% 양이온성 계면활성제 용액의 foam 지속도를 평가한 결과, Cationic starch (CA-ST)는 foam이 전혀 발생되지 않았지만, Methyl triethanol ammonium methyl sulfate distearyl ester (CEQ90)의 foam 지속시간은 평균 46초, Cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (CM29)는 평균 31초로서 매우 낮았다. 음이온성 계면활성제 Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) 첨가는 양이온성 계면활성제의 종류에 따라 지속도가 매우 다르게 나타났다. Cationic starch (CA-ST)의 foam 지속도는 매우 크게 증가된 반면 CEQ90와 CM29는 오히려 감소되었다. 콜로이드($SiO_2$, kaolin) 혼합이 양이온성 계면활성제 foam 지속도에 미치는 영향을 평가한 결과, CA-ST는 콜로이드 혼합시 foam이 전혀 발생되지 않았고, CEQ90과 CM29는 콜로이드를 주입하였을 경우 주입을 하지 않았을 때보다 지속도가 높아졌다. 수용성수지인 polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)첨가가 양이온성 계면활성제 foam 지속도에 미치는 영향을 평가한 결과, CA-ST는 PVA혼합에서도 foam이 전혀 발생 되지 않았지만, CEQ90과 CM29는 PVA의 농도가 높을수록 foam 지속도가 증가하였다. 양이온성 계면활성제에 음이온성 계면활성제 SDS와 콜로이드를 동시에 첨가한 결과 콜로이드보다 음이온성 계면활성제에 의해 양이온성 계면활성제 foam 지속도가 결정되었다. 음이온성 계면활성제 SDS와 PVA를 동시에 첨가하여 평가한 결과 PVA보다 역시 음이온성 계면활성제에 의해 양이온성 계면활성제의 foam 지속도가 결정되었다. Foam을 전혀 형성하지 못했던 양이온성 계면활성제인 CA-ST는 음이온성 계면활성제 SDS 0.14%, PVA 2.5% 첨가 조건에서 foam 지속시간이 평균 8,780초로 획기적으로 증가하였고 타 양이온성 계면활성제 CEQ90 보다 약 8배 이상의 지속시간을 보여주었다. 본 연구결과 foam이 형성되지 않거나 지속시간이 매우 짧은 양이온성 계면활성제는 음이온성 계면활성제를 첨가할 경우 foam형성에 도움을 받을 수 있고 colloid 및 PVA 등의 보조를 통해 양이온성 계면활성제의 지속도를 혁신적으로 증가시킬 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 그리고 양이온 계면활성제의 foam 지속도는 음이온성 계면활성제의 첨가농도에 의해 가장 큰 영향을 받는 것으로 보인다.

Effects of Sodium Sulfate and Surfactants on Papain Treatment of Wool Fabrics

  • This study identifies the effects of sodium sulfate and surfactants in the papain treatment of wool fabrics using L-cysteine and EDTA as activators. The research method involves the use of 2% L-cysteine and 7% EDTA as activators at optimal conditions, papain treatment of wool fabrics with the joint use of sodium sulfates and surfactants, and measurements of the weight loss rate, tensile strength, and whiteness. Results showed that for both 2% L-cysteine and 7% EDTA, the maximum papain activity appeared at 0.5% sodium sulfate concentration. In both cases, the papain activity was enhanced at sodium sulfate concentrations lower than 0.5%. In contrast, the papain activity declined at sodium sulfate concentrations higher than 0.5%. The joint use of EDTA with 0.5% sodium sulfate was proven to be very effective in improving the papain activity. The joint use of 2% L-cysteine with 0.5% sodium sulfate appeared slightly effective in improving the activity but resulted in excessive decrease in the tensile strength and whiteness, compared to improvement in the activity. The joint use of surfactants, in the case of L-cysteine, interrupted the papain activity and decreased the tensile strength regardless of the surfactant type and concentration. In the case of EDTA, however, the joint use with 0.1-5% non-ionic surfactants, 0.1-0.5% anionic surfactants, and 0.1% cationic surfactant appeared to improve the papain activity. The maximum papain activity was observed when 0.1% of surfactant was used, regardless of the surfactant type. The nonionic surfactant was the most effective in improving the papain activity.

발광박테리아(Vibrio fischeri)와 물벼룩(Daphnia magna)을 이용한 중금속 및 계면활성제의 혼합독성 평가 (Evaluation of Toxicity of Heavy Metals and Surfactants Using Vibrio Fischeri and Daphnia Magna)

  • 본 연구에서는 중금속(Cu, Pb, Hg)과 계면활성제(SLS, ALS)의 혼합 독성을 발광박테리아(Vibrio fischeri)와 물벼룩(Daphnia magna)를 이용하여 평가하였다. 중금속에 대한 생태독성 민감도의 경우 물벼룩이 민감하게 반응하였지만 계면활성제의 경우 발광박테리아가 더 민감하게 반응하여 시험생물종 간의 민감도 차이를 확인하였다. 발광박테리아를 이용한 혼합 독성 평가 결과 대부분 실제 실험한 독성 값 P(O)이 예측된 값 P(E)보다 낮게 나타나 중금속과 계면활성제를 혼합 시 길항효과(antagonistic effect)를 보이며, 이는 음이온 계면활성제인 SLS와 ALS가 친수성 머리 부분에 음이온 형태를 띠고 있어 양이온 형태인 중금속 이온과 결합하여 실제 독성이 낮아지는 길항효과가 나타나는 것으로 보인다. 물벼룩을 이용한 혼합 독성 평가 결과 농도가 높아질수록 길항효과(antagonistic effect), 첨가효과(additive effect), 상승효과(synergistic effect)가 순서대로 나타났다. 이는 중금속에 대한 민감도가 높은 물벼룩이 농도가 높아짐에 따라 급격히 치사율이 증가하여 상승효과가 나타난 것으로 보인다.

  • 절삭폐수의 여과수 등에 많이 포함된 음이온 계면활성제의 정성 및 정량분석을 위한 기초연구로 $Mg^{2+}$ 이온을 포함하는 완충용액에서의 음이온 계면할성제들의 거동을 알아보고 최적의 분석조건을 찾기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. $Mg^{2+}$ 이온과의 상호작용 결과, 탄소수에 무관하게 카르복실레이트 혹은 술포네이트계 음이온계면활성제는 $Mg^{2+}$의 농도가 증가함에 따라 겉보기 이동도가 크게 변하였다. 겉보기 이동도, 전기삼투 이동도 그리고 전기영동 이동도를 계산하여 비교한 결과, 이러한 겉보기 이동도의 변화는 전기 영동 이동도의 영향보다는 주로 전기삼투 이동도의 변화의 영향임을 알 수 있는 근거를 제시하였다.

이산화규소/스티렌의 코어-셀 합성에서 음이온 계면활성제의 영향 (Effect of Anionic Surfactants in Synthesizing Silicone Dioxide/Styrene Core-Shell Polymer)

  • The core-shell composite particles of inorganic/organic were polymerized by using styrene(St) as a shell monomer and potassium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator. We studied the effect of core-shell structure of silicone dioxide/styrene in the presence of an anionic surfactant sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and polyoxyethylene alky lether sulfate (EU-S133D). We found that when $SiO_2$ core/PSt shell polymerization was prepared on the surface $SiO_2$ particle, to minimize the coagulation during the shell polymerization, the optimum conditions were at concentration of $2.56{\times}10^{-2}mole/L$ SLS. The structure of core-shell polymer was confirmed by measuring the thermal decomposition of polymer composite using thermogravimetric analyzer and morphology of core-shell polymer particles by transmission electron microscope (TEM).

홍성 지역 하천수의 수질현황 (Water Pollution Status in Streams of Hongsung Area)

  • The purpose of this study on environmental investigation in Hongsung and Kwangchun streams is for the finding the degree of water quality. Physicochemical characteristics of streams are very important. However, that has not been investigated so for especially in stream of Hongsung area, And so, we tried to analyse BOD, TDS, $Cl^{-}$, anionic surfactant, pH, T-N and T-P of stream. The results were as follows. The pH for stream were generally in the range of 6.9 ~ 8.1 which is water quality for stander for stream, water quality of the Hongsung and Kwangchun upstream was not in problem but downstream showed somewhat high concentration in BOD, chlorine ion, T-P, T-N, and anionic surfactants. Especially BOD of Kwangchun downstream was higher than Hongsung downstream and concentration of T-P of Hongsung downstream was kept over 7 mg/liter regardless of inflow BOD ranging from 1.3 to 1.8 mg/liter.

We studied the effect of surfactants on the core-shell structure of silicone dioxide/styrene composite particles polymerized in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS), polyoxyethylene alkylether sulfate (EU-S133D), and at none surfactant condition. We found that $SiO_2$ core / polystyrene(PS) shell structure was formed when polymerization of styrene was conducted on the surface of $SiO_2$ particles, and the concentration SDS and EU-Sl33D was $8.34{\times}10^{-2}mole/L$. The core-shell structure was confirmed by measuring the thermal decomposition of the polymer composite using thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), and the morphology of the composite particles was characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM).

  • The size of furosemide was reduced by the recrystallization method in order to increase the dissolution rate of the drug. Surfactants or hydrophilic polymers were used to suppress the aggregation in the crystal formation-growth process of microparticles by dispersing action. Dissolution rate of microparticles increased remarkably due to the size reduction of microparticle. The particle size decreased with increasing the concentration of the drug and the dispersing agents, i.e., surfactants or hydrophilic polymers. No polymorphic transition occurred during the microcrystallization process, but the habit of crystal formation was altered in the case of anionic surfactant.

혼합계면활성제 용액의 표면장력 성분 (The Surface Tension Components of Mixed Surfactant Solutions)

  • In order to study the affect of surfactants on the soil removal, the dispersion and polar force components of surface tension for surfactant solutions (such as LAS, AS, AOS, AES, AE) were calculated using extended Fowkes equation. The contact angles on paraffin and surface tension of surfactant solutions were measured. Cmcs of LAS, AS, AES and AE were below the concentration of 0.05%, but the cmc of AOS was between 0.05% and 0.1%. The surface tension of AE was lowest but the dispersion force component was greastest. Total surface tension of every mixed anionic surfactant was lower than that of single surfactants, and the dispersion force components were almost decreased. The addition of sodium carbonate to the sufactant solutions decreased the surface tension, and the surface tensions of surfactant solutions were lowered after washing.
