  • In this paper, the performance of wideband CDMA system with smart antenna is analyzed for different bandwidth(1.25MHz, 2.5MHz, 5MHz) and angular spread at base station. In detail, the spatio-temporal wideband multipath vector channel model is proposed. And the received signals in 2D-RAKE receiver are rigorously analyzed in proposed vector channel model. We consider the effect of correlation between any two elements of antenna array. Several multipahts within one chip are distinguished into each one and the strongest signal is selected as a desired one. As a result, the performance of W-CDMA system with smart antenna in spatio-temporal wideband vector channel has been improved in proportion to the increase of angular spread and bandwidth.

  • At present, most efforts tend to develop a INS which is only based linear accelerometers, because of the low cost micro-machining gyroscopes lack of the accuracy needed for precise navigation application and possible achieving the required levels of precise for micro-machining accelerometer. Although it was known in theory that a minimum of six accelerometers are required for a complete description of a rigid body motion, and any configuration of six accelerometers (except for a "measure zero " set of six-accelerometer schemes) will work. Studies on the feasible configuration of GF-INS indicate that the errors of angular velocity resolved from the six accelerometers scheme are diverged with time or have multi solutions. The angular velocity errors are induced by the biases together with the position vectors of the accelerometers, therefore, in order to treat with the problem just mentioned, researchers have been doing many efforts, such as the extra three accelerometers or the magnetometers may be taken as the reference information, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) involved to make the angular velocity errors bound and be estimated, and so on. In this paper, the typical configurations of GF-INS are introduced; for each type GF-INS described, the solutions to the angular velocity and the specific force are derived and the characteristic is indicated; one of the corresponding extend Kalman filters are introduced to estimate the angular errors; parts of the simulation results are presented to verify the validity of the equations of angular velocity and specific force and the performance of extend Kalman filter.

  • In this paper, angular division multiplexing of the optical multiplexing technique for transmitting several channels using a relatively short step-index fiber is described. Mode coupling and the output power distributionin the fiber for the plane wave excitations is calculated and the crosstalk level determination of the system is proposed. In the presence of the mode coupling, the pulse width in terms of the fiber's length and input condition is calculated in the slab waveguide and the fiber. For the input angles (

  • In this paper, wireless channel characteristics of massive MIMO system is analyzed by comparing angular spread, cross polarization discrimination(XPD) and delay spread of dual polarized 4 and 128 transmit array antenna systems, by using 3D rat-tracing simulator, Wireless Insite in microcell environments. The analysis shows that increasing the number of transmit antennas results in the smaller angular spread and delay spread, and the higher value of XPD.

  • Measuring the movement of joint angle of human body is very important clinically. Human joint angle displacement can be used to evaluate the degree of disease and disability. Also, we can determine the rehabilitation process with angular information. Conventional methods for measuring angular displacement are many weakness. The purpose of this study is to overcome the limitations of existing equipments by using optical method. For this reason, optical sensor system was used to correlate detected light signal with joint angle. Experimental results of the applied joint model in this study showed that joint angular displacement can be measured by optical signals. The suggested method is simple, durable, small, lightweight, convenient, and cost effective.

  • The origin of galactic angular momentum is commonly explained as a result of tidal torques of neighbouring protogalaxies on the forming galactic halo. In this context, the environment plays a preponderant role establishing the total angular momentum of present day galaxies. For the last four decades, most of the observational studies focused their attention on the spatial orientation of galaxies in filaments, groups or clusters, leaving behind the magnitude of the angular momentum. We have implemented a simple model to account for the spin of disk galaxies that allow us to obtain an estimate for any galaxy requiring a minimum of information. Applying this method to a sample of galaxies extracted from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, we have been studying angular momentum distributions of galaxies in different environments. In this talk I will present some results for galaxies immersed in different environments, spanning three orders of magnitude in environmental density, galaxies having nearby companions and clustered galaxies.

  • In this paper, an iterative inversion method in angular spectral domain is presented for microwave imaging of a perfectly conducting cylinder. Angular spectra are calculated from measured far-field scattered fields. And then both the propagating modes and the evanescent modes are defined. The center and initial shape of an unknown conductor may be obtained by the characteristics of angular spectra and the total scattering cross section (TSCS). Finally, the orignal shape is reconstructed by the modified Newton algorithm. By using well estimated initial shape the local minima can be avoided, which might appear when the nonlinear equation is solved with Newton algorithm. It is shown to be robust to noise in scattered fields via numerical examples by keeping only the propagating modes and filtering out the evanescent modes.

  • This paper presents the evaluation of an angular spectrum-based method used to calculate scattering pattern of a three-dimensional object modelled as a collection composed of vertical sectional two-dimensional images. This is done via comparing a proposed method with two existing methods, i.e., a Fresnel hologram method and a ray-tracing method, in terms of computatioal complexities and reconstructed results. Maathematical derivations for each methods are reviewed and implementing procedures are described in detail, along with the amount of computaions required from the implementation point of view, rather than from the mathematical point of view. We show simulation results in which the Fresnel holoram method dose not exhibit promising results although it requires the least computation. Moreover, it is also shown that the proposed method, even with much less computational requirement than the ray-tracing method, produces good performances asmuch as the ray-tracing method does.

  • A fast hologram calculation approach is proposed to reduce computational load by avoiding the recalculation of redundancy information. In the proposed method, the hologram is divided into several sub-holograms that record and reconstruct different views of 3D objects. The sub-hologram is generated from its adjacent calculated sub-holograms by only adding the holograms of difference images between an adjacent pair of views. The repetitive information of two adjacent views is called angular redundancy. Therefore, avoiding the recalculation of this angular redundancy can considerably reduce the computational load. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method can reduce the computational time for the statue head, rabbits, and car to 4.73%, 6.67%, and 10.4%, respectively, for uniform intensity, and to 56.34%, 57.9%, and 66.24%, respectively, for 256 levels intensity, when compared to conventional methods.

  • We calculate the facet reflectivity of buried channel waveguides and ridge waveguides as a function of the waveguide width for various thicknesses using the angular spectrum method and the two dimensional field profiles obtained by the variational method (VM) and the effective index method (EIM). The variation of the reflectivity of buried channel waveguides as a function of the waveguide width is large, while that of ridge waveguides is very small. The accuracy of the field profiles necessary for the calculation of the facet reflectivity using the angular spectrum method greatly affects that of the facet reflectivity. The difference between the exact reflectivity and that using EIM increases as the waveguide width and thickness decreases due to the inaccuracy of the field profiles obtained by EIM. However, the difference between the exact reflectivity and that using VM is smaller than that using EIM regardless of waveguide width and thickness. The difference between the facet reflectivities u sing EIM and VM is small in the area where the EIM works very well.
