Synthesis and Photocatalytic Activity of TiO2-ZrO2 Nano-Sized Powders by Sol-Gel Process

  • [ $TiO_{2}-ZrO_{2}$ ] powders were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel process using titanium iso-propoxide as a precursor. The amorphous $TiO_{2}$ particles, 70 nm in size, homogenously adhered to the surface of $ZrO_{2}$ the powders. After calcination at $450^{circ}C$, most of the $TiO_{2}$ powders appeared as an anatase type, whereas they changed to a rutile phase at $750^{circ}C$. For comparison of photocata­lytic activity, $TiO_{2}-ZrO_{2}$ nano-sized powders calcined at $450^{circ}C,\;600^{circ}C,\;and\;750^{circ}C$ were used. In the $TiO_{2}-20wt\%$ $ZrO_{2}$ powders cal­cined at $450^{circ}C$, there was excellent removal efficiency of Methyl Orange (MO). For the calcination temperature increased, $TiO_{2}­ZrO_{2}$ nano-sized powders increased $ZrO_{2}$ contents showed the good photoactivity for the photooxidation of MO.

졸-겔법으로 제조된 $TiO_2$촉매에 의한 합성세제의 광분해 (A Photocatalytic Degradation of Synthetic Detergent over $TiO_2$ Catalysts Prepared by Sol-Gel Method)

  • An aqueous solution of a commercial liquid synthetic detergent for kitchen use was photodecomposed in the presence of titanium dioxides ponder under an atmosphere of air at room temperature. Titanium dioxides were prepared by sol-gel method from titanium iso-propoxide at different R R ratio($H_2O$/titanium iso-propoxide) and calcined at $500^{\circ}C$. All titanium dioxides m characterized by XRD, BET surface area analyzer and UV-VIS spectrometer. The surface mea of titanium dioxides prepared at R ratio=6 appeared higher volume about 20% than commercial $TiO_2$ catalyses. XRD patterns of titania particles were observed mixing phase together with rutile and anatase type. Titanium dioxides prepared by sol-gel method show higher activity about 6% than commercial $TiO_2$ catalysts on the Photocatalytic foundation of a commercial liquid synthetic detergent for kitchen. The concentration of the detergent decreased to about 90%, of its initial value at illumination times of 2 hour. illumination for 30 minutes decreased the concentration of oxygen to about one-fifth of the initial value.

스퍼터링에 의한 펄스파워 캐패시터용 TiO2 박막의 제조 및 전기적특성 (Preparation and Electrical Properties of TiO2 Films Prepared by Sputtering for a Pulse Power Capacitor)

  • $TiO_2$ thin films for a pulse power capacitor were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering. The effects of the deposition gas ratio and thickness on the crystallization and electrical properties of the $TiO_2$ films were investigated. The crystal structure of $TiO_2$ films deposited on Si substrates at room temperature changed to the anatase from the rutile phase with an increase in the oxygen partial pressure. Also, the crystallinity of the $TiO_2$ films was enhanced with an increase in the thickness of the films. However, $TiO_2$ films deposited on a PET substrate showed an amorphous structure, unlike those deposited on a Si substrate. An X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) analysis revealed the formation of chemically stable $TiO_2$ films. The dielectric constant of the $TiO_2$ films as a function of the frequency was significantly changed with the thickness of the films. The films showed a dielectric constant of 100~110 at 1 kHz. However, the dissipation factors of the films were relatively high. Films with a thickness of about 1000nm showed a breakdown strength that exceeded 1000 kV/cm.

  • Different weight percentages of Ag, Pt, and Au doped nano $TiO_2$ were synthesized using the acetic acid hydrolyzed sol-gel method. The crystallite phase, surface morphology combined with elemental composition and light absorption properties of the doped nano $TiO_2$ were comprehensively examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), $N_2$ sorption analysis, transmission electron microscopic (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray, and DRS UV-vis analysis. The doping of noble metals stabilized the anatase phase, without conversion to rutile phase. The formation of gold nano particles in Au doped nano $TiO_2$ was confirmed from the XRD patterns for gold. The specific surface area was found to be in the range 50 to 85 $m^2$/g. TEM images confirmed the formation a hexagonal plate like morphology of nano $TiO_2$. The photocatalytic activity of doped nano $TiO_2$ was evaluated using 4-chlorophenol as the model pollutant. Au doped (0.5 wt %) nano $TiO_2$ was found to exhibit higher photocatalytic activity than the other noble metal doped nano $TiO_2$, pure nano $TiO_2$ and commercial $TiO_2$ (Degussa P-25). This enhanced photocatalytic activity was due to the cathodic influence of gold in suppressing the electron-hole recombination during the reaction.

침전법으로 TiCl4 수용액의 산농도 조절을 통한 나노크기의 순수한 브루카이트상 이산화티타늄 분말 제조 (Synthesis of Pure Brookite-type TiO2 Nanoparticles from Aqueous TiCl4 Solution with controlled Acidity by Precipitation Method)

  • $TiCl_4$ 수용액의 침전반응으로 $TiO_2$를 제조할 때 침전용액의 염산농도와 반응온도 및 $Ti^{4+}$농도는 $TiO_2$ 침전물의 결정구조를 결정하는 중요한 인자이며, 이들의 조절을 통하여 브루카이트상의 부피분율 제어가 가능하다. 순수한 브루카이트상 이산화티타늄을 제조하기 위해서는 $Ti^{4+}$농도를 1.0 M 이하로 유지하고, 침전용액의 염산농도를 2.53~6.41 M이 되도록 조절한후 $70^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 20 h 침전반응 시켜야 한다. 한편, 순수한 브루카이트상 분말을 열처리한 결과 브루카이트상은 열처리 온도의 증가에 따라 아나타제상으로 상전이 된 후 최종적으로 루틸상으로 상변화가 진행되었다.

저온 경화형 초친수성 티타니아 하이브리드 졸의 제조와 친수성 특성 평가에 관한 연구 (Superhydrophilicity of Titania Hybrid Coating Film Imposed by UV Irradiation without Heat-treatment)

  • A preparation process's conditions of aqueous sol which contains anatase-type nano titania particles with photocatalyic properties was established by using Yoldas process, so called, DCS(Destabilization of Colloidal Solution) process in this study. And crystal size change and phase transformation of titania particles in aqueous titania sol depending on reaction conditions was investigated by a light scattering method and XRD analysis of frozen dried powders, respectively. This sol with photo catalytic nano titania particles was used to the following hydrophilic hybrid coating film's fabrication and its properties was evaluated. Subsequently, for coating film using the above mentioned aqueous titania sol, non-aqueous titania sol was prepared without any chemical additives and its time stability according to aging time was investigate. By using the above mentioned aqueous titania sol and non-aqueous sol, a complex oxide coating sol for metal and ceramic substrate and a organic-inorganic hybrid coating sol for polymer substrate was prepared and it's hydrophilicity depending on UV irradiation conditions was evaluated. As a conclusions, the following results were obtained. (1)Aqueous titania sol The average particle size of titania in formed aqueous titania sol was distributed between 20$\sim$90nm range depending on reaction conditions. And the crystal phase of titania powders obtained by frozen drying method was changed from amorphous state to anatase and subsequently transformed to rutile crystal phase and it is attributed to concentration gradient in aqueous sol. (2)Non-aqueous titania sol Non-aqueous titania sol was prepared using methanol as a solvent and a little distilled water for hydrolysis and nitric acid as a catalyst were used. The obtained non-aqueous titania sol was stable at room temperature for 20 days. Additionally, non-aqueous titania sol with addition of chealating reagent such as acethylaceton and ethylene glycol prolonged the stability of sol by six months. (3)Complex sol and hybrid sol with super hydrophilicity The above mentioned aqueous titania sol as a main photocataylic component and non-aqueous titania sol as a binder for coating process was used to prepare a complex sol used for metal, ceramic and wood material substrate and also to prepare the organic-inorganic hybrid sol for polymer substrate such as polycarbonate and polyethylene, in which process APMS(3-Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane), GPTS(3-Glycidoxypropyl-trimethoxysilane) as a hydrophilic silane compound and HEMA(2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate) as a forming network in hybrid coating film were used. The hybrid coating film such as prepared through this process showed a superhydrophilicity below 1$10^{\circ}$ depending on processing conditions and a pencil's hardness over 6 H.

스컬용융법에 의한 루틸 단결정 성장메커니즘과 RE generator 조건에 관한 연구 (A study on the growth mechanism of rutile single crystal by skull melting method and conditions of RF generator)

  • 스컬용융법에 의해 루틸 단결정들을 성장시켰으며, 서로 다른 융액의 유지시간에 따른 ingot의 특성을 비교하였다. 스컬용융법은 교류전자기장(RF)에 의해 전기가 흐르는 융액의 직접유도가열에 근거하며, 가열은 RF 에너지의 흡수로 실행된다. $TiO_2$는 상온에서는 부도체이지만 온도가 올라갈수록 전기 전도성이 증가한다. 따라서, 초기 RF 유도가열을 위해 티타늄 금속 링(외경 : 6cm, 내경 : 4cm, 두께 : 0.2cm)을 $TiO_2$ 분말(아나타제상, CERAC, 3N)내부에 묻었다. 스컬용융법에 의한 산화물 용융에서 매우 중요한 것은 융점에서의 전기 저항 값, RF generator의 주파수 그리고 냉각도가니 크기이다. 본 연구에서는, $TiO_2$의 융점에서의 전기저항$(10^{-2}\~10^{-1}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}m)$은 알루미나$(10^{-1}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}m)$의 지르코니아$(10^{-3}\;{\Omega}{\cdot}m)$의 전기저항 데이터를 바탕으로 추정하였다. 냉각도가니의 내부직경은 11cm, 높이는 14cm였으며, 이것은 침투깊이$(0.36\~1.13cm)$와 RF generator 주파수를 고려하여 결정하였다

  • Sol-gel method로 합성한 anatase상의 $TiO_2$와 Yb와 Er을 codoping한 $TiO_2:Yb^{3+},\;Er^{3+}$ 파우더의 열적안정성과 이에 따른 광촉매 특성의 변화를 비교하였다. XRD 분석을 통하여 $TiO_2$ 결정성 및 상변화에 $Yb^{3+},\;Er^{3+}$ ions이 미치는 영향을 온도에 따라 비교하였으며 anatase $TiO_2$와 rutile $TiO_2$의 광학적 성질을 UV-Vis을 통하여 비교하였다. UV-Vis 분석결과 anatase $TiO_2:Yb^{3+},\;Er^{3+}$ ions도핑에 의하여 $TiO_2$의 밴드갭이 미세하게 감소함을 확인하였고 이를 통해 광촉매 작용을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다. $Yb^{3+}$ 이온과 $Er^{3+}$ 이온이 도핑된 $TiO_2:Yb^{3+},\;Er^{3+}$ 파우더를 980 nm에서 PL 분석하여 녹색 및 적색 형광을 하는 up-converting 형광특성을 분석하였다.

저온 ALD로 제조된 TiO2 나노 박막 물성 연구 (Property of the Nano-Thick TiO2 Films Using an ALD at Low Temperature)

  • We fabricated 10 nm-$TiO_2$ thin films for DSSC (dye sensitized solar cell) electrode application using ALD (atomic layer deposition) method at the low temperatures of $150^{\circ}\;and\;250^{\circ}$. We characterized the crosssectional microstructure, phase, chemical binding energy, and absorption of the $TiO_2$ using TEM, HRXRD, XPS, and UV-VIS-NIR, respectively. TEM analysis showed a 10 nm-thick flat and uniform $TiO_2$ thin film regardless of the deposition temperatures. Through XPS analysis, it was found that the stoichiometric $TiO_2$ phase was formed and confirmed by measuring main characteristic peaks of Ti $2p^1$, Ti $2p^3$, and O 1s indicating the binding energy status. Through UV-VIS-NIR analysis, ALD-$TiO_2$ thin films were found to have a band gap of 3.4 eV resulting in the absorption edges at 360 nm, while the conventional $TiO_2$ films had a band gap of 3.0 eV (rutile)${\sim}$3.2 eV (anatase) with the absorption edges at 380 nm and 410 nm. Our results implied that the newly proposed nano-thick $TiO_2$ film using an ALD process at $150^{\circ}$ had almost the same properties as thsose of film at $250^{\circ}$. Therefore, we confirmed that the ALD-processed $TiO_2$ thin film with nano-thickness formed at low temperatures might be suitable for the electrode process of flexible devices.

동시 스퍼터링법을 이용하여 Cu 도핑한 TiO2 박막의 구조적, 광학적 및 광분해 특성 (Structural, Optical and Photocatalyst Property of Copper-doped TiO2 Thin Films by RF Magnetron Co-sputtering)

  • 동시 스퍼터링법으로 $TiO_2$ 박막과 구리를 도핑한 Cu/$TiO_2$ 박막을 제작하고, 금속의 도핑과 열처리 온도에 따른 구조적, 광학적, 광분해 특성을 조사하였다. XRD 측정 결과 구리 도핑의 경우에 입자의 결정 크기가 증가하였으며, SEM 결과 입자들의 크기가 균일하고 입자들의 뭉침이 더 작은 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. $900^{\circ}C$에서 열처리한 박막의 흡수단은 아나타제에서 루타일로의 상전이에 의해 밴드갭의 변화로 장파장 영역으로 이동하였고, 또한 입자 크기 증가에 따라 투과율이 급격히 감소하였다. Cu/$TiO_2$ 박막들은 순수$TiO_2$ 박막보다 광분해 특성이 더 우수하였다.
