  • In this paper, we theoretically analyzed the NRRO(the non-repeatable run-out) of a ball bearing with ball geometric imperfection. The quasi-static and dynamic analysis of a ball bearing was performed to calculate the displacement of shaft center caused by the ball form errors while the shaft is rotating. From consideration of the generating mechanism of NRRO, it is found that the size and form errors of ball generate vibrations with (equation omitted)$\_$c/ and n(equation omitted)$\_$b/${\pm}$(equation omitted)$\_$c/(where n is even) components, respectively. The ball form errors of a ball bearing were precisely measured and NRRO of a ball bearing was calculated using the measured data. A statistical approach was peformed to analyze NRRO of ball bearings with radial errors.

  • Since the GPS absolute positioning with pseudorange measurements can significantly be affected by the observation error, the time series analysis of the GPS receiver clock errors was performed in this study. From the estimated receiver clock errors, the time series model is generated, and constrained back in the absolute positioning process. One of the CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Stations) network is used to analyze the behavior of the receiver clock. The dominant part of the model is the linear trend during 24 hours, and the seasonal component is also estimated. After constraining the modeled receiver clock errors, the estimated position error compared to the published coordinates is improved from ${\pm}11.4\;m\;to\;{\pm}9.5\;m$ in 3D RMS.

  • This paper aims at finding out dominant robot configurations with maximal position errors, which can be attributed to the parameter errors, by using Monte-Carlo simulation for error analysis of a 3-axis SCARA(Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) type robot. In particular, the Monte-Carlo simulation is used for virtually measuring on the position errors, instead of physical measurement. In order to measure the observability of the model parameters with respect to a set of robot configurations, we propose the observability index which is defined as the product of singular values for error propagation matrices. Thus the index can be used for discriminating dominant robot configurations from a set of simulated ones in conjunction with standard deviation of positional errors, This paper analyzed error by robot positional error.

  • This study was conducted to derive optimal design floods by Gerneralized Extreme Value(GEV) and Weibull-3 distributions for the annual maximum series at ten watersheds along Han,Nagdong, Geum, Yeongsan and Seomjin reiver systems. Adequency for the analysis of flood data used in this study was established by the tests of Independence. Homogeneity , detection of Outlines, L-moments. Design flood sobtaine dby /methods of Moments and L-Moments using different methods for plotting positions in BEV and Weibull-3 distributions were compared by the Relative Mean Errors(RME) and Root MEan Square Errors(RMSE). The result wa found that design floods derived by the L-moments using the other formulas for plotting positions from the viewpoint of Relative Mean Errors and Root Mean Square Errors.

  • In metal cutting, the machining accuracy is more affected by thermal errors than by geometric errors. This paper models of the thermal errors for error analysis and develops on-the-machine measurement system by which the volumetric error are measured and compensated. The thermal error is modeled by means of angularity errors of a column and thermal drift error of the spindel unit which are measured by the touch probe unit with a star type styluses, a designed spherical ball arti-fact, and five gap sensors. In order to analyze the thermal characteristics under several operating conditions, experiments performed with the touch probe unit and five gap sensors on the vertical and horizontal machining centers.

  • Face gear transmission is widely used in aerospace shunt-confluence transmission system. Tooth wear is one of the main factors affecting its bearing transmission performance. Furthermore, the installation errors of face gear are inevitable. In order to study the wear mechanism of face gear tooth surface with installation errors, based on tooth contact analysis numerical method and Archard wear theory, the UMESHMOTION subroutine in ABAQUS is developed.Combining with Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian adaptive mesh technology, the finite element mesh wear model of abraded face gear pair is established. The preprocessing conditions are set to generate the inp files. Then, the inp files for each corner are imported and batch processed in ABAQUS.The loading tooth contact problem at each rotation angle is solved and the load distribution coefficient among gear tooth, tooth root bending stress, tooth surface contact stress and loaded transmission error are obtained. Results show that the tooth root wear is the most serious and the wear at the pitch cone is close to 0.The wear law of tooth surface along tooth width direction is convex parabola and the wear law along tooth height direction is concave parabola.

  • GPS satellite positions can be obtained from the navigation message transmitted from the GPS satellite. In this paper, the accuracy of broadcast orbit and clock are analyzed by comparing with the NGA precise ephemeris. For analyzing global and local orbit errors in 2004 to 2013, GPS satellite visibilities are calculated in Korea. Local RMS of 3D orbit error and SISRE are 4 cm and 3 cm less than global RMS of 3D orbit errors and SISRE. Orbit and clock errors are calculated for each GPS satellite Block for 10 years. SISRE of Block IIA satellites are 2.8 times greater than Block IIF satellites. The correlation between orbit errors and shadow condition is analyzed. The orbit errors in shadow is 2.1% higher than that in sunlight. Correlation analysis between the orbit errors and solar/geomagnetic index shows that orbit errors has a high correlation with from 2004 to 2008. However, the correlation became low since 2009.

  • This paper presents a fast realistic method based on a P-Q decoupled linearized model for contingency analysis. This method involves new idea to correct the errors caused by neglecting the resistance of transmission lines and/or by linearizing the model. The idea is to use fast correction method of errors by the principle of superposition for compensating these errors. Results demonstrating the effectiveness of the method on 25-bus model system and IEEE30-model system are presented

  • For improving the motion accuracy of hydrostatic tables, a corrective machining algorithm is proposed in this paper. The algorithm consists of three main processes. The reverse analysis is performed firstly to estimate the rail profile from the measured linear and angular motion error, in the algorithm. For the next step, the corrective machining information is obtained based upon the estimated rail pronto. Finally, the motion errors on the correctively machined rail are analyzed by using the motion error analysis method. These processes are iterated until the analyzed motion errors are satisfactory within the target accuracy. In order to verify the validity of the algorithm theoretically, the motion errors calculated by the estimated rail after the corrective machining process, are compared with those by the true rail which is previously assumed as the initially measured value. The motion errors calculated using the estimated rail show good agreement with the assumed values, and it is shown that the algorithm is effective in acquiring the corrective machining information to improve the accuracy of hydrostatic tables.
