Functionalization of Au surfaces with 4-(carboxymethyl)aniline and amine-terminated dendrimers for enhanced surface density of antibodies on immunosensor Au chips

  • Here, we demonstrate surface functionalization of Au chips with 4-(carboxymethyl)aniline (CMA) and amine-terminated polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers for immobilization of antibodies on the Au surfaces. Use of the functionalization strategy led to high surface density of the immobilized antibodies on the Au chips. Specifically, we found that the functionalization of Au chips with CMA and amine-terminated $6^{th}$ generation PAMAM dendrimers allowed immobilization of immunoglobulin (IgG) antibodies with high surface density, which is 5 times higher than that obtained with Au surfaces functionalized with CMA and ethylenediamine.

The Influence of Functionalization of the Fe3O4 Nanoparticle on its Dispersion Property

  • In this study, to improve the dispersity of $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles, dispersion properties were considered with various types of functionalization of $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles. Due to its high surface area, the electrically neutral state of its surfaces, and its magnetic momentum, $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles are easily aggregated in solution. In order to prevent aggregation, $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles were functionalized with carboxyl and amine groups in the form of a polymer compound. Carboxyl and amine groups were attached to the surface of $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles and the absolute value of the zeta potential was found to be enhanced by nearly 40 eV. Furthermore, the morphology and the magnetic property were analyzed for the application of $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles as a magnetic fluid.

Simultaneous reduction and functionalization of graphene oxide by polyallylamine for nanocomposite formation

  • A novel strategy for the simultaneous reduction and functionalization of graphene oxide (G-O) was developed using polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAAH) as a multi-functional agent. The G-O functionalization by PAAH was carried out under basic conditions to catalyze the epoxide ring opening reaction of G-O with abundant amine groups of PAAH. We found that G-O was not only functionalized with PAAH but also reduced under the reaction condition. Moreover, the synthesized PAAH-functionalized G-O sheets were soluble in water and applicable to the synthesis of nanocomposites with gold nanoparticles.

Analysis of Heavy Metal Toxic Ions by Adsorption onto Amino-functionalized Ordered Mesoporous Silica

  • Ordered mesoporous silica (MCM-41) materials with different textural properties were prepared using alkyl (dodecyl, cetyl, eicosane) trimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB, CTAB, ETAB, respectively) as structure directing surfactants, functionalized with amine groups and used as adsorbent for the toxic metal ions, Cr (VI), As (V), Pb (II) and Hg (II). Amino functionalization of mesoporous MCM-41 was achieved by cocondensation of N-[3-(trimethoxysilyl)-propyl] aniline with tetraethyl orthosilicate. Adsorption isotherm and adsorption capacity of the amine functionalized materials for Cr (VI), As (V), Pb (II) and Hg (II) ions were followed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Results demonstrate that amine functionalized MCM-41 prepared with ETAB showed higher adsorption capacity for Cr (VI), As (V), Pb (II) and Hg (II) ions in comparison to MCM-41 prepared with CTAB and DTAB. The higher adsorption capacity for MCM-41(ETAB) was correlated with amine content in the material (determined by CHN analysis) and relative decrease in pore volume and pore diameter. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, nitrogen adsorptiondesorption measurements and Fourier Transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR) were used to follow the changes in the textural parameters and surface properties of the mesoporous materials as a result of amine functionalization to correlate with the adsorption characteristics. The adsorption process was found to depend on the pH of the medium.

아민기로 관능화된 마그네슘-층상규산염을 이용한 섬유유연제 제조 (Preparation of Fabric Softener Product by using Amine-functionalized Magnesium-phyllosilicates)

  • 본 연구에서는 (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane을 사용하여 표면을 아민기로 관능화함과 동시에 팔면체와 사면체 구조를 가지는 마그네슘-층상규산염(AF-MgP)을 합성하였다. FT-IR과 XRD 분석을 통해 AF-MgP가 성공적으로 합성되었음과, 입자 표면의 아민기 및 1 : 2 비율의 팔면체와 사면체 구조를 확인하였다. HR-SEM와 EDX 분석을 통해 면섬유 표면에 AF-MgP가 고루 흡착되어 섬유를 코팅하고 있음을 확인하였다. KS 규격에 따른 섬유의 항균력 시험 결과 AF-MgP 입자가 코팅된 면섬유는 피부 상재균에 대해 매우 우수한 항균 활성을 나타내는 것을 확인하였다. 이상의 결과들은 AF-MgP가 섬유에 항균성을 부여해주는 기능성 나노 소재로서 적용될 뿐만 아니라, 화장품이나 의료 소재 분야에서 응용이 가능함을 시사한다.

Synthesis, Characterization, and the Influence of Functionalized Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes with Creatinine and 2-Aminobenzophenone on the Gastric Cancer Cells

  • The chemical functionalization of carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) by creatinine (MWCNT-Amide) and latter modification with 2-aminobenzophenone for producing 1-methyl-9-phenyl-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]quinolin-2-amine (MWCNT-quino) have been investigated. All products were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, derivative thermogravimetric and cellular investigations. The interesting point is that MWCNT-quino can be homogeneously dispersed in dimethylformamide and to some extent in ethyl alcohol without sonication. Also, MTT assay was used to examine the behavior of cell proliferation after 48 h of cell culture experiments. Cellular results showed high toxicity of MWCNT-quino on the cancer cells. These functionalizations have been chosen due to active sites of carbonyl and methylene groups in MWCNT-Amide and the creating quinoline derivative on the MWCNTs for future application.

표면 기능화된 Micelle-Templated Silica 나노세공 내 메탈로센 담지 및 에틸렌 중합 (Immobilization Metallocene Inside Surface-functionalized Nanopore of Micelle-Templated Silica and its Ethylene Polymerization)

  • 메조포러스 물질의 표면을 post-synthesis grafting method를 통해 표면을 기능화시킨 후 $(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$/methylaluminoxane(MAO)를 담지하여 에틸렌 중합을 실시하였다. 아민기와 시안기를 가지는 유기실란 $N$-[(3-trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ethylenediamine(2NS), 4-(triethoxysilyl)butyronitrile(1NCy), 1-(3-triethoxysilylpropyl)-2-imidazoline(2NIm)는 메조포러스 물질의 표면 기능화에 사용되었다. SBA-15/2NS/$(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$촉매 담지시 MAO의 양이 증가할수록 Zr 함량은 감소하였고 Al 함량은 증가하였다. 에틸렌 중합 활성은 MAO의 양이 증가할수록 급격히 증가함을 볼 수 있었다. 담지시간이 6시간일 때 가장 높은 활성을 보였다. 유기실란의 종류에 따른 활성 차이는 SBA-15/2NS/$(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ > SBA-15/2NIm/$(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ > SBA-15/1NCy/$(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$ 순으로 감소하였다. 아민기를 두 개 갖는 2NS와 2NIm은 아민기를 하나 갖는 1NCy보다 $(n-BuCp)_2ZrCl_2$와 더 강하게 상호작용을 한다. 따라서 촉매 내 질소와 Zr함량이 증가할수록 활성은 증가하였다.

Selective Functionalization of Calix[6]arene

  • Calix[6]arenes are selectively dialkylated at the lower rim and further functionalized by the aminomethylation and Claisen Rearrangement reactions. Dialkylation was conducted by the reaction of calix[6]arene and alkyl halides such as benzyl bromide, allyl bromide, ethyl bromoacetate, propyl bromide, and methyl iodide under the carefully controlled reaction conditions. Aminomethylation was carried out with the treatment of disubstituted calix[6]arene and secondary amine in the presence of formaldehyde. Claisen rearrangement reaction of the O-diallylcalix[6]arene produced the p-diallylcalix[6]arene.

High performance epoxy nanocomposites with amine-functionalized graphenes

  • Graphene, consisting of a single layer of carbon in a two-dimensional lattice, has been emerging as a fascinating material with many unique physical, chemical and mechanical properties. In this study, graphenes were prepared by a chemical method. To develop high performance polymer nanocomposites reinforced by graphenes, adequate dispersion of the fillers and strong interfacial bonding between the fillers and the polymer matrix are essential. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of introducing amine groups on the surfaces of graphenes. FT-IR spectroscopy, SEM were used to confirm the functionalization. Epoxy nanocomposites comprising the graphenes were prepared and their characteristics were investigated by DSC, DMA and TMA. Fracture surfaces of the nanocomposites were investigated by SEM. The functionalized graphenes induced strong interfacial bonding than the pristine graphenes and resulted in considerable improvements in the performance of the nanocomposites.

표면 기능화된 실리카에 담지된 Al 유기금속화합물을 이용한 L-lactide 벌크중합 특성 연구 (Bulk Polymerization of L-lactide Using Aluminium Organometallic Compound Supported on Functionalized Silica)

  • 본 연구에서는 높은 분자량의 polylactide(PLA)를 중합하기 위하여 aluminum isopropyl oxide($Al(O-i-Pr)_3$)를 아민기로 표면 기능화된 실리카에 담지하고 이를 촉매로 이용하여 생성된 PLA의 중합특성을 확인하였다. 담지촉매는 먼저 실리카 표면을 아민기를 갖는 실란화합물로 기능화한 후 $Al(O-i-Pr)_3$을 in-situ 합성하였다. 기능기에 담지된 $Al(O-i-Pr)_3$는 MAO(methyl aluminoxane) 존재하에 중합활성을 보였다. $115^{\circ}C$에서는 표면 기능화된 아민기양이 증가할수록 전환율과 분자량이 증가하였고, $130^{\circ}C$에서는 표면 기능화된 아민기양이 증가할수록 전환율은 감소하였으나 분자량은 크게 증가하여 표면 기능화된 아민기양이 3.0 mmol일 경우 44000 g/mol로 가장 높은 분자량을 얻었다. GPC curve를 통해 $115^{\circ}C$ 중합온도에서는 분자량 분포곡선이 bimodal 형태에서 저분자량 부분이 크게 증가하여 shoulder 형태로 변화하였으며 $130^{\circ}C$에서는 GPC 단일피크를 보였다. 균일계 $Al(O-i-Pr)_3$ 촉매보다 아민기로 표면 기능화된 실리카에 담지된 $Al(O-i-Pr)_3$ 촉매가 더 높은 활성과 고분자량의 PLA를 합성할 수 있었다.
