In this paper we consider the enumeration problem of permutations with partially forbidden positions, generalizing the notion of permutations with forbidden positions. .As an alternative approach to this problem, we investigate the permanent maximization problem over some classes of (0,1)-matrices which have a given number of 1's some of which lie in prescribed positions.

In this study, we investigated the influences of cognitive conflict and situational interest induced by a discrepant event and an alternative hypothesis, attention and state learning strategies on conceptual change. A preconception test was administered to 486 seventh graders. They also completed the questionnaires of cognitive response and situational interest to a discrepant event before/after presenting an alternative hypothesis. After learning the concept of density with a CAI program as conceptual change intervention, the tests of attention, state learning strategies, and conceptual understanding were administered as posttests. Analyses of the results for 197 students having misconceptions about density revealed that post-cognitive conflict was significantly higher than pre-cognitive conflict. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the test scores of pre-situational interest and post-situational interest. Pre-cognitive conflict only exerted a direct effect on post-cognitive conflict, while post-cognitive conflict exerted a direct effect and Journal of the Korean Chemical Society an indirect effect via attention on conceptual understanding. Both pre- and post-situational interests were found to influence on conceptual understanding via attention. Attention had influences positively on deep learning strategy and negatively on surface learning strategy. There was a relatively small effect of state learning strategies on conceptual understanding.

The purpose of this study is to find out the philosophy embedded in the newly revised 2007 Home Economics curriculum. Furthermore, it analyses the current situation and future tasks of textbooks in view of that philosophy. With this analysis it tries to give alternative teaching-learning strategies for making the best use of the existing textbooks. This study deals with the newly revised 2007 Home Economics curriculum. It also analyses the twelve sorts of textbooks for the first grade students in secondary schools, which are supposed to be based on that curriculum. As a research method this study takes a qualitative approach. As follows are the results of this study. First, in the character and objectives of the curriculum is embedded the critical science perspective of Home Economics curriculum. Second, the current situation and future tasks of the textbooks are analysed with the criteria by Yang, mi-kyung about textbook construction. And we have ascertained the following problems. The current textbooks are not well designed so that teachers have the appropriate orientation, encourage students to nurture the critical thinking abilities, and urge students to employ practical reasoning in the context of society, history and culture. Third, this study proposes five alternative teaching-learning strategies for making the best use of the current textbooks in order to tackle the above-mentioned problems.

The main goal of this paper is to examine the current English education practices in Korea in the broad context of research and academia. Furthermore, it attempts to uncover why English education has not been well established as a field of science in English-related departments and consequently what has been neglected and what issues should be dealt with to increase understanding and to create a more interactive relationship between the university and society. First, the author deals with the influence of ‘folk science’ views in the field of English education by touching on some widely held perceptions and issues. Second, by dealing with the alienation of English education and examining the phenomenon of seeing English education as a secondary field of science in English related departments, an attempt was made to reveal underlying epistemological dualism rooted in Asian cultures. Third, the paper deals with a critical issue related to English education: Exposure and Time. By reviewing and reinterpreting some of basic and fundamental literature with respect to language learning, exposure, and time, the author raises a new issue in English education and proposes new interpretation and an alternative more relativistic viewpoint; he also investigates what should be done to improve English education on the basis of research and science in order to deal with the needs and problems of society.

Purpose: It is important to identify problems in elders' health through health examination as a part of health service for elders and to execute health education so that elders have appropriate abilities to manage and protect themselves. This study was attempted to assess the need of health education in the elderly and to analyze factors affecting the need of health education. Method: The participants in this study were 354 elderly people living independently in the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province of Korea, and a questionnaire survey was conducted through personal interviews from June 25 to July 26, 2007. The methodology was a descriptive study. Data were collected and analyzed using SPSS Win 12.0. Results: As for the contents of education, elders preferred most the area of 'prevention and management of elderly diseases.' Detailed education contents preferred by elders were the prevention of accidents, diet habits, exercise and weight management, mental health and stress management, complementary and alternative therapies, management of drinking and smoking, etc. Conclusion: According to elders' concerns and needs, systemic health education for the elderly should provide right health knowledge, health maintenance, health promotion and setting of appropriate health education.

Recently, the Internet of Things is attracting attention as an important key technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution, and SW education using physical computing is suggested as a good alternative to supplement the problems raised by beginners in programming education. Among the many teaching tools that can be used for physical computing education, MODI is a modular manufacturing tool that anyone can easily assemble like Lego. MODI is a teaching tool that can improve learners' achievement by linking a self-linked block-type code editor called MODI Studio to lay the foundation for programming in a relatively small amount of time and immediately check the results in person. In this paper, a physical computing education method using MODI was designed to be applied to basic programming courses for programming beginners and applied to after-school classes for middle school students. As a result, it was found that students' interest and satisfaction were much higher in physical computing classes using MODI than in text-based programming classes. It can be seen that physical computing education that allows beginners to see and feel the results in person is more effective than grammar-oriented text programming, and it can have a positive effect on improving basic programming skills by increasing students' participation.

The purpose of this study is to develop the programming language teaching materials for the gifted of information with using the game. There are many curricula for teaching the information and technology to the gifted of information. There are not differences between these programs and the general IT curricula. The gifted of information has some complains about his curriculum(58/60, 96.67%). So this study developed the alternative programming language teaching materials for the gifted of information. This study concluded the effects of alternative materials for teaching programming language depend on learners' academic achievement about programming language with game activity. This study also looks forward to being able to indicate new direction to develop the teaching materials for the gifted of information.

There are few studies on the human resource development and management of container terminal in Korea. In this situation, we try to analyze the training and education of Busan port container terminals. This study took a close look at present condition of training and education of container terminals in Busan and compared it with foreign advanced port. And conducted a questionnaire survey on the actural condition and system of it. Based on the survey result, we examine the problems and suggest an alternative plan to improve the training and edcation of Busna Port container terminals.

This study was conducted with the main purpose of designing a roadmap for the development and operation of the Duksung IiRUM personality education curriculum from the perspective of alternatives to the educational innovation of Duksung Women's University. The research method consisted of a procedure of analyzing the literature dealing with theoretical considerations or case plans to establish the foundation of the university personality education curriculum, along with an expert meeting. The contents of this study are presented a roadmap of how the personality education curriculum, which should be newly constructed from the alternative point of view of educational innovation, which has not been established the foundation of personality education throughout the current curriculum of Duksung Women's University, can be designed in a convergent manner in the current curriculum composition. Accordingly, various measures have been suggested to develop and operate the Duksung IiRUM personality education curriculum across subject matters education and extracurricular education programs. As a result of the study, it was analyzed that the Duksung IiRUM personality education curriculum at Duksung Women's University could be developed in a balanced and convergent manner with the existing and current curriculum composition, and could also be expected to operate effectively.

The purpose of this study is to discuss how to introduce micro degree for innovation in convergence education in our university. To this end, the background of the introduction of micro and nano degrees and domestic and foreign applications were reviewed. The reason why the rate of students completing the multi-degree was low was that the credits required for graduation were higher than that of other domestic universities, and the difficulty of the courses offered in the convergence major did not match the students. In order to reduce the burden of students learning convergence subjects while acquiring new knowledge and skills, the introduction of a micro degree is considered to be an alternative to the current convergence education.
