  • To Study the relationships between rapeseed yield and meteorogical elements, the investigation into the important agronomic characters of Yudal cultivar and climate factors such as precipitation, and temperature from 1975 to 1984 was made. Yearly variation of C. V.(%) were highly significant for yield and the important agronomic character. Correlation coefficients between precipitation of May and Yield or agronomic character were significantly positive. Regression equations between the precipitation of Mayor minimum temperature of February and yield were Y=210.914+1.719X and Y=245.560-1.720X, respectively. Low temperature of February affected rapeseed yield reduction significantly.

  • The experiment was carried out to study the influence of planting densities and on some agronomic characters and yield of rresh weight in Agastache rugoso. The results obtained are summarized as fol-lows; stem length was long in dense planing and short in spacious Planting. Stem diameter was thickIn spacious planting, and was thin in dense planting. Yield was higher in dense planting densities (20x20cm : 2spiants/m, 30$\times$20cm : 17plants/m).

  • A total of 20 soybean recommended varieties which were developed until late 1980's in Korea was evaluated at Suwon. Comprehensive evaluation and correlation analysis were conducted on the agronomic characters. Great variations were found in these genotypes for branch number, pod number, and grain yield per plant. The variation in number of pods/plant ranged from 53 to 164, and in grain yield from 25.9 to 68.8 g. The coefficient of variation for most of the characters had a wide range. In correlation coefficient, grain yield per plant showed a positive phenotypic association with weight of pods, pod number of branches, and weight of stem. Multiple regression analysis was done to formulate selection criteria. It indicated that stout and medium-stature genotypes with more branches, resulting in varieties with more pods per plant but with medium-size seeds are available to obtain high-yielding varieties.

  • The significance of environment change and genetic safety has been recently recognized by many genetically modified (GM) plants. This study was to evaluate the safety of drought-tolerant rice and to identify the environment variance. The GM rice of drought-tolerant rice and four check cultivars were analyzed the data on agronomic characters and principal component in large-GM crop field. There was no significant difference in agronomic characters between the drought-tolerant rice and donor plant, 'Ilmi'. Grain yield showed the standard deviation of the difference, did not significant statistically. Related to grain characters, grain appearance were similar to the drought-tolerant rice and donor plant, 'Ilmi'. In Chemical characters, brown rice of the drought-tolerant rice and a donor plant, 'Ilmi' did difference in starch and protein, however, was similar as 'Ilpum'. These results indicated that drought-tolerant rice may perform to detect genetic safety in GM plants progeny.

  • This study was carried out to seek the visible marker and make it easy to select the individuals or lines which have excellent characters. Ginseng plants of one to five years were used for this study, and agronomic characters, such as stem diameter. stem length, leaf length, leaf width, petiole length. stem weight, leaf weight, number of leaves, number of leaflets, main root length, root length, root diameter and root weight were determined and correlations among them were estimated. Generally, agronomic characters, such as stem diameter, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves, number of leaflets, leaf weight and stem weight had positive and highly significant correlations with root weight per plant, the character that has great influence on yield.

  • This study was carried out to compare the root yields, root characters, saponin and ginsenosides contents of 6-year-old p. ginseng and p. quinquefolium. These two ginseng species showed difference in the diameter and ten비h of mainroot. The main root length or p. quinquefolium was shorter than that of p. ginseng, whereas Jakyung-jong and Hwangsook-jong of P. ginseng showed similar root length. Proximate composition were similar between the two species, however, crude fibercontent was significantly higher in main and lateral root of Jakyung-jong and Hwang sook-jong of P ginseng than P quinquefolium. In regard to mineral contents of root, P ginseng contained more Ca and Mn and less Fe and Al than P. quinquefolium. P. quinquefolium contained more of Rbl and Rd of protopanaxadiol saponin, and less or Re, $Rg_1$ and $Rg_2$ of protopanaxatriol saponin than P ginseng. However, no Rf was detected in the p. quinquefolium. Key words Panax ginseng, Panax quinquefolium, ginseng character, ginsenoside.

  • Fourty lines of F4 progenies of an Adzuki bean cross, Jukdoo (Korean local variety) X Nesumimochi (Japanese variety) were used as the material, and these lines were grown in replicated trials in 1967. Phenotypic, genotypic and environmental covariances among all possible traits of eight character are calculated as shown in table 1. Phenotypic, genotypic and environmental correlations among all possible paris of eight characters were calculated as shown in table 2. In general, genotypic correlations were higher than the corresponding phenotypic corresponding phenotypic correlations. The genotypic correlations between seed yield (grain weight per plot) and oter agronomic characters indicated that seed yield was genetically associated with the character of pod number per plant, and grain number per plant, which is closely correlated with pod number pr plant, are affected more in Adzukl bean yield than the other agronomic characteracters.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the influence of barley yellow mosaic virus(BaYMV) on agronomic characters in naked barley. A naked barley cultivar, Beagdong was evaluated for disease systems at naturally infected field, National Honam Agricultural Experiment Station. SPAD value of the infected plants by BaYMV was low as compared to healthy plants. Heading time was delayed by 10-11 days. Dry matter weight per plant, culm length, and number of spike per plant were reduced in the infected plants by 75%, 68%, and 49%, respectively. Length of internode was reduced in the first to the sixth internode from the upper part, especially, that in the third to the fifth internode was mostly reduced by 75-80%. Also, length of awn, number of kernels, 1000-kernel weight, and kernel weight per plant of the infected plant were reduced by 17-19%, 47%, 60%, and 78%, respectively. Lightness and redness for kernel color value of Baegdong were low and high, respectively.
