Plant disease is an important factor affecting crop yield. With various types and complex conditions, plant diseases cause serious economic losses, as well as modern agriculture constraints. Hence, rapid, accurate, and early identification of crop diseases is of great significance. Recent developments in deep learning, especially convolutional neural network (CNN), have shown impressive performance in plant disease classification. However, most of the existing datasets for plant disease classification are a single background environment rather than a real field environment. In addition, the classification can only obtain the category of a single disease and fail to obtain the location of multiple different diseases, which limits the practical application. Therefore, the object detection method based on CNN can overcome these shortcomings and has broad application prospects. In this study, an annotated apple leaf disease dataset in a real field environment was first constructed to compensate for the lack of existing datasets. Moreover, the Faster R-CNN and YOLOv3 architectures were trained to detect apple leaf diseases in our dataset. Finally, comparative experiments were conducted and a variety of evaluation indicators were analyzed. The experimental results demonstrate that deep learning algorithms represented by YOLOv3 and Faster R-CNN are feasible for plant disease detection and have their own strong points and weaknesses.

The GLEAMS (Groundwater Loading Effects of Agricultural Management System, version 3.0) water quality model was used to predict hydrology and water quality and to evaluate the effects of soil types from a cattle-grazed pasture field of Bermuda-Rye grass rotation with poultry litter application as a fertilizer in North Alabama. The model was applied and evaluated by using four years (1999-2002) of field-measured data to compare the simulated results for the 2.71- ha Summerford watershed. $R^2$ values between observed and simulated runoff, sediment yields, TN, and TP were 0.91, 0.86, 0.95, and 0.69, respectively. EI (Efficiency Index) of these parameters were 0.86, 0.67, 0.70, and 0.48, respectively. The statistical parameters indicated that GLEAMS provided a reasonable estimation of the runoff, sediment yield, and nutrient losses at the studied watershed. The soil infiltration rates were compared with the rainfall events. Only high intensity rainfall events generated runoff from the watershed. The measured and predicted infiltration rates were higher during dry soil conditions than wet soil conditions. The ratio of runoff to precipitation was ranging from 2.2% to 8.8% with average of 4.3%. This shows that the project site had high infiltration and evapotranspiration which generated the low runoff. The ratio of runoff to precipitation according to soil types by the GLEAMS model appeared that Sa (Sequatchie fine sandy loam) soil type was higher and Wc (Waynesboro fine sandy loam, severely eroded rolling phase) soil type relatively lower than the weighted average of the soil types in the watershed. The model under-predicted runoff, sediment yields, TN, and TP in Wb (Waynesboro fine sandy loam, eroded undulating phase) and Wc soil types. General tendency of the predicted data was similar for all soil types. The model predicted the highest runoff in Sa soil type by 105% of the weighted average and the lowest runoff in Wc soil type by 87% of the weighted average
Field studies were conducted over two seasons during the summers of 1997 and 1998 to investigate the effects of different spatial arrangements(random or highly aggregated) of sclerotia of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and alginate pellet types(bran or polyethylene glycol) on colonization of sclerotia by Trichoderma spp. Treatment with alginate pellets increased the mean percentages of sclerotia colonized by Trichoderma spp. in both years. Distribution patterns of sclerotia affected the mean percentage of sclerotia colonized by Trichoderma spp. in both years, indicating that a highly aggregated distribution of sclerotia was more favorable to colonization by Trichoderma spp. The effects of the different pellet types(bran or PEG) were not siginificant in both years(P>0.05). The application of higher densities(200 pellets per 1 $m^2$) of alginate pellets resulted in higher mean percentages of sclerotia colonized by Trichoderma spp. in 1998(P<0.05), but did not in 1997.
This study was conducted to develop an electro-hydraulic three-point hitch control system using an electro-hydraulic servo valve and microcomputer and to investigate the performance of the three-point hitch control system through indoor and field experiments. 1. The results from indoor experiments coincided with those from computer simulation reported in the previous paper. However, the draft control with the value 4 of Kd showed a slight sustained oscillation after it reached the draft set. 2. From the field experiments, it appeared that the RMS errors increased with the ground speed of tractor. In position control, the three-point hitch control system with electro-hydraulic servo valve showed better performance than that with on-off electro-magnetic valve in the ground speed less than 1.6 m/s. In draft control, however, there was no significant differece in performance between those two systems. 3. In depth control, the both types of electro-hydraulic three-point hitch control system showed better performance than the conventional mechanical-hydraulic three-point hitch control system.
Reduction factor for installation damage required to calculate design strength of geogrid used in MSEW(mechanically stabilized earth wall) design is usually obtained in the field test simulating real construction condition. However, damages occurred in geogrid during backfill work are influenced by many factors such as polymer types, unit weight per area, backfill construction method and gradation of backfill material and field test considering these factors demand lots of time and costs. In this study, factors affecting installation damage are analyzed and empirical method to evaluate reduction factor for installation damage using maximum particle size in backfill material is suggested.
This study aims to analyze the difference in production elasticity based on the types of agricultural labor input regarding its qualitative difference in Jeju mandarin production. To estimate the production function of qualityadjusted labor, we have set up a Quality-Adjusted Index based on the market wage of the agricultural field. We have conducted a multiple regression analysis of the newly estimated labor inputs using the Ordinary Least Squares regression. Results show that the production efficiency of aggregate total labor hours (quality-unadjusted labor input) is overestimated compared to quality-adjusted labor with qualitative labor homogeneity. Moreover, by analyzing household labor and employment labor, we have observed that the marginal productivity of household labor exceeds that of employment labor. In conclusion, this study verifies that securing labor input homogeneity is crucial for analyzing agricultural labor hours' economic efficiency accurately.
This study analyzed pore water pressure, earth pressure and settlement through field monitoring on the project site in which raising embankments are being built through backside extension, and compared the behaviors of seepage analysis, slope stability analysis and stress-strain during flood water levels and rapid drawdown under steady state and transient condition. The variation of pore water pressure showed an increase during the later period in both upstream and downstream slope, with downstream slope more largely increased than upstream slope overall. The variation of earth pressure increased according to the increase of embankment heights, while the change largely showed in the upstream slope, it was slowly increased in the downstream slope. The settlements largely increased until 23 m as embankment heights increased, and showed very little settlement overall. Under a steady state and transient conditions, the seepage quantity per day and leakage quantity per 100 m of embankment against total storage were shown to be stable for piping. The hydraulic gradient at the core before and after raising embankments was greater than the limit hydraulic gradient, showing instability for piping. The safety factor of upstream and downstream slopes were shown to be very large at a steady state, while the upstream slopes greatly decreased at a transit conditions, downstream slopes did not show any significant changes. The horizontal settlements, the maximum shear strain and stress are especially distributed at the connecting portion of the existing reservoir and the new extension of backside. Accordingly, the backside extension method should be designed and reinforced differently from the cases of other types reservoirs.
This study is to evaluate the classification system of rural-villages remodeling components which is provided for improving the quality of life for rural community by improvement of settlement environment. To achieve this, rural-villages remodeling components are classified according to the spatial structure of rural area through analysis of literature, then we have examined the applicability through case studies after modification work which is based on experts's discussion and rearrangement by pilot investigation of researcher. In the classification system of rural-villages remodeling classified productivity area, residential area, community area in first group and this classification is divided into 6 space to production, 4 space to residence, 5 space to community in second group by literature search, pilot investigation of researcher and field survey. The subject elements surveyed a total of 123 through the literature search, additionally, 1 element at a space to production and space to community in field survey for types in zoning cases. As a result, categories and items are decided that it is included 125 target elements.
The purpose of this study is to organize research trends by analyzing healing studies using emotional insects, and to suggest future research directions. As a result, only six emotional insect species were used for healing purposes, and most of the age groups of the test subjects were elementary school students and the elderly. As for the type of research, field application of the healing program was dominant at 76.5%. Effectiveness verification was mainly conducted through questionnaires before and after participating in the healing program. In some cases, stress-related salivary hormones were used as indicators or clinical tests were conducted by medical staff. Based on the results of this analysis, future strategies such as finding new emotional insect species, developing various types of healing program models, and expanding and subdividing the target subjects were suggested to promote the growth of the healing industry using emotional insects in the future.
White rot on Allium crops recently had a high incidence with incrensed cultivating areas of tropical garlic types in Korea. Two types of Sclerotium have known as causal agents that produce different size and shapes of sclerotia in infested fields. Therefore, we developed a new method for isolation of sclerotia from infested field soils that can be used for ecological study of Sclerotium spp. and establishment of control strategy. Soil samples collected from heavily infested fields were evenly mixed and placed on a automatic sieve shaker connected with tap water, After 10 min of shaking, residues on 0.5 mm and 0.25 mm sieves were separately collected and suspended with 70% sugar solution, which method floats sclerotia in aqueous layer, Then, floated fraction was carefully separated and mixed with a same volume of 1% sodium hypochlorite solution to differentiate with organic materials. This method provides a direct count of sclerotia under a dissecting microscopy.
