  • Achieving something in learning is a very important task. Due to its significance, extensive research has been conducted over a long period to determine what factors influence learning. In the field of mathematics, such research has been continuously carried out, and as a result, it has been revealed that cognitive, affective, and socio-environmental factors influence mathematics learning. However, most of these studies were based on one or two variables, and thus, they did not comprehensively examine the factors affecting mathematics learning. Therefore, this study aims to synthesize the existing research to comprehensively derive the factors influencing mathematics learning.

  • The purposes of the study are to recognize importance of motivation in math education and to increase interest in students' motivation problem by comparing math motivation between mathematically gifted and non-gifted 5th graders based on Keller's ARCS theory and analyzing correlations between math motivation, mathematically affective characteristics and mathematical achievements. For this purpose, 436 students who were mathematically gifted and non-gifted 5th grade students were asked to take questionnaires and test to measure math motivation, mathematically affective characteristics and mathematical achievements. After analyzing the data, there are statistically differences in three educational factors between two groups. In addition, there are correlations between three educational factors. This study revealed that highly motivated students showed positive mathematically affective characteristics and high mathematical achievements. As results indicate that motivation could be a crucial factor in learning, teachers should consider motivation strategy to plan students' lessons regarding to learners' giftedness.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how interactions and affective factors are influencing on-line English Grammar courses of higher education. This study addressed the following questions: (1) How are the interactions going in on-line English Grammar courses? (2) Are affective factors influencing effective learning in on-line English Grammar courses? The questionnaire was conducted on 170 college students who have taken on-line English course of K University. The data analysis of 300 college students' responses on their courses showed that e-learning has both positive and negative effects compared to face to face classroom instructions. Analysis showed that the percentage of students who have got negative opinions on e-learning was 17%, while that of students who have got positive opinions was 49.3%. The percentage of those in the middle was 33.3%. However, results demonstrated that immediate feedback and affective factors could be facilitated through Q&A bulletin and feedback program for completing on-line learning. Negative effects of on-line learning can be solved by a planned and well-supported on-line approach that includes a theory-based instructional model rather than the new method replaced by 'blended learning' that combines face-to-face classroom instruction with on-line learning.

  • Objectives: This study investigated quality of life in Korean juvenile inmates with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and the impact of behavioral and emotional problems on quality of life. Methods: In total, 200 inmates were evaluated using the Korean version of the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (K-MINI) and the Korean version of the Kiddie-Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia-Present and Lifetime (K-SADS-PL-K). We extracted the inmates with ADHD and evaluated their quality of life, behavioral problems, and emotional problems with the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) and the Korean Youth Self Report (K-YSR) scale. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. Results: Among the 200 total inmates, 68 were diagnosed with ADHD by the K-SADS-PL-K. Most of the correlations between PedsQL scores and K-YSR items were significant. Multiple regression analysis showed that PedsQL could be predicted by affective problems (among the DSM-oriented scales of the K-YSR) and attention problems (among the syndrome scales of the K-YSR). Conclusion: Our results demonstrate that, among juvenile inmates with ADHD, quality of life was negatively correlated with most behavioral and emotional problems. Meanwhile, the significant influence of affective and attention problems on inmates' quality of life suggests the necessity of comprehensive treatments for this group.

Factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and multiple regression analysis were conducted for the statistical analysis. Two factors of trust were identified: credibility and benevolence. Two factors of commitment were identified: affective commitment and calculative commitment. Three factors of firm performance were identified: customer service performance, finance performance, and product performance. The credibility of the apparel manufacture in a contractor had a significant positive effect on the affective commitment of an apparel manufacturer and on the calculative commitment in a contractor. Meanwhile, the benevolence of the apparel manufacture on a contractor had a significant positive effect on the affective commitment of an apparel manufacturer on a contractor. The credibility of the apparel manufacture on a contractor was positively related to customer service performance, finance performance, and product performance. The benevolence of the apparel manufacture on a contractor was positively related to customer service performance and finance performance of an apparel manufacture. The affective commitment of the apparel manufacture in a contractor was positively related to service performance. The calculative commitment of the apparel manufacture on a contractor was positively related to finance performance and to the product performance of an apparel manufacture.
