  • This study is to understand fashion product aesthetics by exploring the antecedents of aesthetic experiences and the influence of aesthetic experiences on impulse buying behavior. A total of 520 usable questionnaires were obtained through an internet survey. A structural equation model using a correlation matrix with maximum likelihood was estimated by using AMOS 18.0 to examine the relationships among aesthetic value, aesthetic acumen, affective experience, cognitive experience, and impulse buying behavior. The results showed that aesthetic value and acumen had a significant effect on the cognition of aesthetic experiences and that aesthetic experiences had a significant effect on impulse buying behavior. These results highlight the powerful motivational force behind fashion product aesthetics. The key implications for research and management are discussed further.

  • Compared to consumers' focus, in the past, on the functional aspect of fashion products, consumers recently tend to place more importance on their impressive and memorable experiences in purchasing process. As consumer's interest changes from functional aspects to individual experience in purchasing process, fashion brands try to convey the identity of the brand through creating favourable consumers' experiences. Therefore, this study explores the effect of individuals' aesthetic experiences with fashion brands' SNS accounts on their attitudes. More specifically, the study evaluates whether consumers enjoy the flow of fashion brands' SNS accounts and form purchase intentions through their aesthetic experiences and product placement. Through a survey, empirical testing was done to investigate the effect of the aesthetic experience on of flow and purchase intentions. The current study tests the interaction effect among perceived aesthetic experience, narrative images, and product placement employing 2×2×2 MANOVA. The findings herein reveal that the aesthetic experience affects flow and purchase intention, and that there is a statistically significant interaction effect between aesthetic experience, narrative images, and product placement.

  • To quantitatively measure or evaluate aesthetic factors is not easy in comparison with physical, functional, behavioral or economic factors. Yet aesthetic factors essentially play an important role in design modeling process. Despite its importance, research on aesthetic assessment or the interaction of aesthetic influential elements is insufficient. Therefore, this study is intended to find the relationships between visual preference and aesthetic variables of perceptual-cognitive dimension and affective dimension in commercial space design. According to the result of this substantiation research, aesthetic variables that give a positive effect on the preference of commercial space design are unity, order, and clarity in perceptual-cognitive dimension and 'pleasant', 'relaxing' in affective dimension. On the other side, aesthetic variables that give a negative effect on the preference are contrast, complexity, and ambiguity that is a contrary concept of clarity in perceptual-cognitive dimension and 'exciting', 'arousing' in affective dimension.

  • This study had two aims. First, the study intended to identify the influences of product benefits and product identification on consumers' purchase intention, Second, it wanted to assess the moderating effects of consumers' aesthetic seeking tendency on their decision-making process. Based on the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) paradigm and the product personality-brand identification-purchase intention model, this study proposed a research model, the benefits-product identification-purchase intention model. To test the model, a survey was conducted of female college students; a total of 298 questionnaires were analyzed. The stimulus used was a popular model of Nike running footwear: the Luna Eclipse+2. Factor analysis and structural equation analysis were conducted to analyze the research model. The results indicate : (1) The aesthetic benefit influenced product identification positively. The aesthetic benefit, functional benefit and product identification were all positively related to purchase intention. (2) The aesthetic seeking tendency mediated the influences of product benefits on consumers' purchase intention in the decision-making process. For consumers in the 'high' level group of aesthetic seeking tendency, aesthetic benefit and social benefit affected purchase intention and for consumers in the 'low' level group of aesthetic seeking tendency, the functional benefit only affected purchase intention. Based on this study, we find evidence that product benefits and aesthetic seeking tendency play important roles in consumers' decision-making process in product purchase.

For this reason, the attributes of online exhibitions are composed of accessibility, interaction, informativeness, playfulness, etc., and the aesthetic experience is composed of four factors: emotional, communicative, cognitive, and perceptual areas. A survey was conducted to analyze the effect on viewing intention. The results of multiple regression analysis of the questionnaire results revealed that first, the online exhibition service had a partially significant positive(+) effect on the aesthetic experience. It was analyzed that informativity had the greatest effect on the emotional domain of aesthetic experience, playfulness had the greatest impact on the communication and perceptual domains, and access had the greatest impact on the cognitive domain. Second, it was found that online exhibitions had a partially significant positive (+) effect on offline exhibition viewing intention in the order of playfulness, interactivity, and informativity. Third, it was found that aesthetic experiences had a significant positive (+) effect on offline exhibition viewing intention in the order of cognitive, emotional, communication, and perception. In addition, it was confirmed that the aesthetic experience partially mediated the intention to view online and offline exhibitions. We hope that this study will serve as an opportunity to spark academic discussion along with practical implications for inducing online exhibition users to offline exhibitions.

  • Among the various decorative techniques in fashion design, this study is to study the decorative effect of the aesthetic finishing technique on fabric. Despite the recent expansion of the use of decorative techniques by aesthetic finishing of fabrics, most of the studies have focused on one or partial techniques, and there has been no part on the use of broad techniques or the application of overall design. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to collect the expression techniques of aesthetic finishing and its fashion cases that have been sporadically performed by examining the decorative techniques of fabric aesthetic finishing as a whole, and to provide practical data, help design thinking, and further contribute to the development of higher value-added products. To this end, this study was conducted in parallel with theoretical consideration and empirical research. First, through the analysis of decorative images and fashion cases examined based on theoretical considerations, six creative costumes were planned and produced by reorganizing them according to the flow of modern fashion using a design concept. As a result, it was confirmed that each aesthetic finishing technique is an effective decorative technique that is applied and harmonized to a part or all of the costume to create a new and unique surface effect and formative beauty, and to increase strong visual effects and luxury. Therefore, through this study, it is expected that it will help satisfy the aesthetic sense of consumers seeking high-end and individualization in the future.
