수준별 과제 학습지의 구안과 학습자 자신의 선택에 의한 자기 주도적 학습이 수학과 학업성취에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Self-directed Learning by Self-selecting of the Level Tasks for the Students' own Level on Achievement in Mathematics)

  • Compared with other subjects, mathematics has great differences in achievement. In hope of solving this problems, most schools the level-movement learning. Although they say it may have some effect because of its homogeneous group, the level groups still have differences in achievement in their students abilities. So, this study aims to present an appropriate tasks for the advanced intermediate and beginner groups and to help self-directed learning by selecting an appropriate tasks for the students' own level. To achieve thiese goals, a great deal of level tasks were developed and given to the students. After lettins them an select appropriate tasks for their own level and perform self-directed teaming, the tasks were measured carefully for their interest attitude and achievement in learning. Consequently, we tried a new method to improve uniformity and to turn teacher-centered learning into student-centered teaming. The following is the conclusion to this study. First self-directed teaming based on the selection of level tasks has meaningful effects on learning achievement in mathematics, especially for the beginner group. Second though the above method did not improve an interest for mathematics, but was very effective in the improvement of learning attitudes.

Temporal Structures of Word-initial /s/ Plus Stop Sequences in English Words Produced by Korean Learners

  • The purpose of this study is to examine temporal structures of English words beginning with an /s/ plus stop sequence through production experiments with native speakers of Korean learning English and native speakers of English. According to the results of our production experiment, both a beginner and an advanced group of Korean English learners produced /s/ shorter than a following stop, while the opposite pattern was observed in English native speakers' production. An advanced group of Korean English learners were good at producing a stop after /s/ as unaspirated, but their production of a stop following /s/ was different from English native speakers' production in that the closure duration of the stop was much longer.

  • Prosody can be used to resolve syntactic ambiguity of a sentence. English relative clause construction with complex NP(the N1, N2, and RC sequence) has syntactic ambiguity and the clause can be interpreted as modyfying N1(high attachment) or N2(low attachment), Speakers and listeners can disambiguate those sentences based on the prosody. In this paper, we investigate the Korean English learners production on the prosodic structure of English relative clause construction. The production experiment shows that the beginner learners use the phrasing frequently and the advanced learners depend on both the phrasing and the accent. One of the characteristic of the Korean English learners' intonation is that the Korean accentual phrase tone pattern LHa is transferred to their production.

수술실 간호사의 조직사회화와 이직의도 (Organizational Socialization and Intention to Leave in Operating Room Nurses Working at Secondary General University Hospitals)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between organizational socialization and intention to leave, and to identify factors affecting on intention to leave in operating room nurses. Methods: This study used a descriptive design. Seventy operating room nurses recruited from three hospitals under the same management style, in-service educational system, and working conditions agreed to participate in this study, and completed self-administered questionnaires of the organizational socialization and the intention to leave questionnaire. Respondents were classified by career as advanced beginner, competent practitioner, proficient practitioner and expert practitioner by Benner's stages of nursing proficiency. Data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA with multiple comparisons, Spearman correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Nurses unsatisfied with the current in-service continuous education had lower organizational socialization and higher intention to leave. In advanced beginners, job performance was lowest and organizational commitment was highest. In expert practitioners, intention to leave was highest. Organizational commitment, interpersonal relationship, identity and burnout were associated with intention to leave. Mutual trust, burnout, and interpersonal relationship were predictors of intention to leave explained 20.8% of variance. Conclusion: The career ladder program to enhance nurses' organizational socialization and intention to stay should be established and expanded for well-experienced operating room nurses.

학습자의 발화 속도 변이 연구: 일본인과 중국인 한국어 학습자와 한국어 모어 화자 비교 (A Comparative Study on Speech Rate Variation between Japanese/Chinese Learners of Korean and Native Korean)

  • This study compares various speech rates of Korean learners with those of native Korean. Speech data were collected from 34 native Koreans and 33 Korean learners (19 Chinese and 14 Japanese). Each participant recorded a 9 syllabled Korean sentence at three different speech rate types. A total of 603 speech samples were analyzed by speech rate types (normal, slow, and fast), native languages (Korean, Chinese, Japanese), and learners' proficiency levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). We found that learners' L1 background plays a role in categorizing different speech rates in the L2 (Korean), and also that the leaners' proficiency correlates with the increase of speaking rate regardless of speech rate categories. More importantly, faster speech rate values found in the advanced level of learners do not necessarily match to the native speakers' speech rate categories. This means that learning speech rate categories can be more complex than we think of proficiency or fluency. That is, speech rate categories may not be acquired automatically during the course of second language learning, and implicit or explicit exposures to various rate types are necessary for second language learners to acquire a high level of communicative skills including speech rate variation. This paper discusses several pedagogical implications in terms of teaching pronunciation to second language learners.

Formulaic Language Development in Asian Learners of English: A Comparative Study of Phrase-frames in Written and Oral Production

  • Recent research in usage-based Second Language Acquisition has provided new insights into second language (L2) learners' development of formulaic language (Wulff, 2019). The current study examines the use of phrase-frames, which are recurring sequences of words including one or more variable slots (e.g., it is * that), in written and oral production data from Asian learners of English across four proficiency levels (beginner, low-intermediate, high-intermediate, advanced) and native English speakers. The variability, predictability, and discourse functions of the most frequent 4-word phrase-frames from the written essay and spoken dialogue sub-corpora of the International Corpus Network of Asian Learners of English (ICNALE) were analyzed and then compared across groups and modes. The results revealed that while learners' phrase-frames in writing became more variable and unpredictable as proficiency increased, no clear developmental patterns were found in speaking, although all groups used more fixed and predictable phrase-frames than the reference group. Further, no developmental trajectories in the functions of the most frequent phrase-frames were found in both modes. Additionally, lower-level learners and the reference group used more variable phrase-frames in speaking, whereas advanced-level learners showed more variability in writing. This study contributes to a better understanding of the development of L2 phraseological competence.

초·중 통합학교의 공간 구성 방향에 관한 연구 - 일본 의무학교 운영 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Space Composition of lementary·Middle integrated school - Focusing on the Case of Japanese Integrated Schools -)

  • 본 연구는 초·중 통합학교의 공간 구성 방향을 제시하고자 일본의 초·중 통합학교 형태인 의무학교 사례를 중심으로 공간 배치 특성을 분석하였다. 이를 통해 초·중학교 발달단계별 학급교실의 공간 구성과 배치 특성을 도출하였고, 초·중 통합 활용전용 공간과 공동 활용 교과교실을 도출하였다. 또한 초·중학교 급별 학년별 교과교실 연계 특성을 분석하여 바람직한 교과교실 배치 방안을 도출함으로써 국내 초·중 통합학교 공간 배치 구성 방향에 대한 기본 방향을 제시하였다.

피로강도평가를 위한 통합 전산 시스템의 개발 (Development of Integrated Fatigue Strength Assessment System)

  • An integrated fatigue strength assessment system was computerized. The system developed consists of 9 modules: user interface, cycle counting, load history construction, data searching, fatigue properties estimation, fatigue data analysis, true stress and strain analysis, expert system for crack initiation life prediction, fatigue crack initiation and propagation life prediction. Fatigue strength database also was included in this system. The fatigue expert system helps a beginner to predict a fatigue crack initiation life in fatigue strength assessment. The expert system module in this system is developed on the personal computer by using C language and UNiK, an expert system developing tool. To evaluate the system, the results of test under variable loading of SAE and failure data from a field were analyzed. The evaluation show that the system provided fatigue life prediction within 3-scatter band and gave reasonable predictions. To get more accurate predictions of fatigue life without fatigue properties, we recommend utilizing the system along with the fatigue strength database.

입체조형 실습을 연계한 가구디자인 수업 개발을 위한 사례연구 (Study on Process Development of Furniture Design Class by Fusing 3D Form Study)

  • 3D form study is one of basic subjects in industrial design education. There are an array of textbooks of visual art, design and architecture, most of which address basic geometrical form study and abstract forms. With the introduction of computerization, current trends are directed to reduce basic form education and students' participation in classes and their accomplishments. This study was intended to develop works under a theme of furniture design with concrete shapes and functions. This study focused on developing relevant process by fusing 3D form study and furniture design which fall into basic design and design studio subjects, respectively. Among 3D form studies, applied were a concept of 3D configuration that explores the relations between surface forms and 3D forms. Furniture design is a challenge to students at beginner or intermediate level in basic design education from initial devising stage to production in kind. To ease high level of difficulties at designing and producing stages, technical education was systematized in the process of conceptualizing, developing idea and production. This type of challenge was carried out during separate semesters, along with a case study done to develop different types of challenges. This study helped students to be motivated and actively participate in classes and well perform advanced form study and technical training from design to actual production.

베트남 한국어 학습자를 위한 한국어 자음 지각 훈련 연구 (Perceptual training on Korean obstruents for Vietnamese learners)

  • 이 연구는 베트남인 성인 학습자들이 학습 단계별로 한국어 어두 초성 장애음을 어떻게 지각하는지 밝히고, 지각 훈련을 통해 오류가 교정될 수 있는지를 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 베트남인 초급, 중급, 고급 학습자 105명을 대상으로 한국어 초성 장애음에 대한 지각 훈련을 실시하였다. 훈련 자료는 원어민 음성으로 녹음한 자연 자극으로 한국어의 최소대립쌍을 적극적으로 활용하여 제작하였다. 실험 집단에 속한 학습자들은 약 2주간에 걸쳐 20-40분의 자기주도적 지각 훈련을 5회 수행했고, 통제 집단에 속한 학습자들은 사전 테스트와 사후 테스트에만 참여하였다. 실험 결과 훈련 전에 잘 구분되지 않았던 음들에 대한 지각이 많이 개선되었고, 초급뿐만 아니라 고급 집단의 학습자들도 끝까지 교정이 잘 되지 않았던 음에 대한 효과를 보았다. 이 연구에서는 대규모의 지각 훈련을 통해 베트남인 학습자들이 한국어의 서로 다른 음을 구별하는 적절한 음향 단서를 학습하는 데 지각 훈련이 중요한 역할을 할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
