College Life Adjustment Factors Affecting the Work Values of Public Health Major Student (보건의료행정 전공 대학생의 직업가치에 영향을 미치는 대학생활적응 요인)

  • This study aims to examine the effects of adjustment factors to college life on the work values of public health major students. We sampled 530 undergraduate students majoring in public health administration and engineering from Kyunggi-do, and analyzed the data using t-test, correlation and regression methods obtained from SPSS Win 21.0 software. We found that (1) a student's intrinsic work value is positively related to their adjustment to college life factors but extrinsic work value is positively related to 'professor-student interaction', 'college life satisfaction' and 'expectation for the service college'; (2) 'social integration', 'professor-student interaction' and 'expectation for the service college' influenced to intrinsic work value; (3) 'career identity', 'family support', and 'college life satisfaction' influenced to extrinsic work value. Based on the results of this study, that the improvement of adjustment to college life factors influence on the work values were discussed.

The Effects of Psychological Separation from Parents and Family Adaptability on Child's Adjustment to College (부모와의 심리적 독립과 가족의 적응성이 자녀의 대학 생활 적응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to explore psychological separation from parents, family adaptability, and child's adjustment to college, in order to assess general standards and sex difference. It also investigated explaining variables on children's adjustment to college. The study subjects were 243 college students(male students; 123, female students; 120).The data collected from questionnaire were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t test, Pearson's correlation and hierarchical multiple regression. The main results were as follows: Firstly, psychological separation from parents of college students were lower than those of average score. But family adaptability and adjustment to college of students were higher than those of average score. Secondly, psychological separation from parents was negatively correlated to adjustment to college, but family adaptability was positively correlated to adjustment to college. Finally, variables that explain child's adjustment to college was cohavitation with parents and family adaptability. In addition to these variables, psychological separation from parents was a major factor for female students.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of interpersonal relationships and communication skills of nursing students who received blended learning classes on adjustment to college Life. The subjects of this study were 133 first and second year nursing students. The survey was conducted from november 22th to december 3th. 2021. The data was analyzed with the SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. Descriptive statistics and meen differences were analyzed using an t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Multiple regression. The result adjustment to college life of interpersonal relationship, communication competence it was found that there was a significant positive correlation between. The factors of communication competence, interpersonal relationship, Nursing and admissions motivation were impact on the adjustment to college life level of nursing students. The explanatory power of this was 44.3%. In conclusion, a strategy for improving communication skills and smooth interpersonal relationships is needed so that nursing students who have received blended learning can adjustment to college life.

The mediating effect of Interpersonal competence between Nursing student's Adult attachment and Adjustment to College life (간호대학생의 성인애착과 대학생활적응에서 대인관계능력의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between adult attachment, adjustment to college life, and interpersonal competence in nursing college students and investigate whether or not interpersonal competence mediates the relationship between adult attachment and adjustment to college life. The subjects of this study were 685 college students located in J-si and M-si, and data were collected for 25 days from November 1 through 25, 2015. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, Hierarchical regression, and Sobel test using SPSS 23.0. As adult attachment increased, adjustment to college life was enhanced (B=.225, p=.027); as interpersonal competence increased, adjustment to college life improved (B=.145, p=.040); and as adult attachment increased, interpersonal competence increased (B=.396, p=.021). In addition, interpersonal competence significantly mediated the relationship between adult attachment and adjustment to college life (Z=3.560, p<.001). To enhance adjustment to college life in nursing college students, adult attachment and interpersonal competence need to be improved.

Effects of Interpersonal Relationship, Self Differentiation on College Adjustment in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 대인관계능력, 자아분화가 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of interpersonal relationship, self differentiation and adjustment to college life as well as to identify the factors influencing the adjustment to college life in nursing students. The study was conducted on 185 nursing students in D and S Province and from November 15th to December 5th 2016. The data was analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and Multiple regression. The mean score of the adjustment to college life was $3.30({\pm}0.49)$ and the interpersonal relationship was $3.73({\pm}0.41)$ and self differentiation was $3.07({\pm}0.32)$. There were positive correlations between adjustment to college life and interpersonal relationship(r=.614, p<.001) and self differentiation((r=.264, p<.001). Significant factors influencing adjustment to college life were interpersonal relationship, self differentiation which explained 39% of adjustment to college life. Based on these findings, programs that develop interpersonal relationship and self differentiation are necessary for college nursing students in order to promote college adjustment.

A study on the relationship between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, college adjustment, major satisfaction, and academic motivation in college students (대학생의 ADHD성향과 대학적응, 전공만족 및 학습동기의 관련성 연구)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to understand the level and patterns of college adjustment, major satisfaction, academic engagement, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This study examined the factors influencing adaptation to college life. Methods: This study was approved by the institutional review board of 00 university. We analyzed 166 survey data responses collected by distributing questionnaires from June 1 to July 2, 2020. Statistical product and service solutions version 23.0 was used for statistical analyses. The data were presented as frequencies and percentages or means and standard deviations, and pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results: There was a significant difference in the average score of major satisfaction according to the type of college (university) and grades. For college adjustment, there was a significant difference in the average score according to major grades. Academic engagement showed a significant difference in the average score according to the college type and grade. Major satisfaction, college adjustment, and academic motivation showed significant positive correlations among the variables, whereas ADHD, major satisfaction, and college adjustment showed a significant negative correlation. Multiple regression analysis revealed that major satisfaction (p<0.001) and academic motivation (p<0.001) were factors affecting college adjustment (p<0.05). Conclusions: It is necessary to develop and apply specific and systematic adaptation programs to improve the understanding, control, and guidance methods for college students and to promote human relations, such as school life and social life.

Effect of Self-resilience and Professional Self-concept, Major satisfaction on Nursing Student's Adjustment to college life (간호대학생의 자아탄력성, 간호전문직 자아개념, 전공만족도가 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the self-resilience, professional self-concept, and major satisfaction on nursing students' adjustment to college life and to present the basic data to assist in healthy adaption of college life. The study included 310 students from two universities in Gwangju and Jeonnam. A questionnaire survey was conducted on the subjects to determine their self-resilience, professional self-concept, major satisfaction, and adjustment to college life with nursing as a major. The data were collected from 1, April, 2016 to 15, April using self-report, questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive statistics, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient, using SPSS 20.0. As a result, self-esteem, professional self-concept, major satisfaction, and adjustment to college life averaged 3.80 (out of 4), 2.81 (4), 3.86 (5), and 2.75 (5) respectively. In terms of correlations, there was a significant positive correlation between adjustment to college life and self-resilience (r=.404, p<.001) and professional self-concept (r=.404, p<.001) and major satisfaction(r=.455, p<.001). In addition, self-resilience (${\beta}=.252$, p<.001) and major satisfaction (${\beta}=.309$, p<.001) of variance in adjustment to college life and the explanatory power of the model was 27.2%. Based on these results, improvement programs are necessary to help nursing students get adjusted to college life.

Influence of Trauma Experiences and Social Adjustment on Health-related Quality of Life in North Korean Defectors (북한이탈주민의 외상경험과 사회적응이 건강 관련 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the influence of trauma experiences and social adjustment on health-related quality of life in North Korean defectors. Methods: The subjects were 117 North Korean defectors living in B and Y city. The data were collected from September 1 to September 20, 2014, and analyzed by the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results: Significant differences were found in the health-related quality of life with respect to the subjects' education, marriage status, types of dwelling, family types, duration of residence in South Korea, jobs in South Korea and in North Korea, families left in North Korea or other surrounding countries, and subjective health status. Health-related quality of life is negatively related to trauma experiences during escape from North Korea and during their life in South Korea. Health-related quality of life positively is related to social adjustment. The meaningful variables which influenced the subjects'health-related quality include social adjustment, job in South Korea, job in North Korea, current family structure, and trauma experiences in South Korea. Total explanatory power of these factors for health-related quality in North Korean Defectors is 43.0% and social adjustment is the most influential factor. Conclusion: Therefore, in order to enhance health-related quality of life in North Korean defectors, it is necessary for them to increase social adjustment and decrease trauma experiences. In addition, methods are needed to provide job opportunities, better education and family services for North Korean defectors.

The Effect of Perceived Parental Abuse and Neglect and Peer Attachment on School Life Adjustment according to Children's Gender (성별에 따라 아동이 지각한 부모의 방임학대와 또래애착이 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of perceived parental neglect and abuse and peer attachment on school life adjustment according to children's gender. A total of 2,264 5th graders from the second Korea Child-Adolescent Panel Survey participated. The results were as follows: First, the boys had higher parental neglect and abuse scores than the girls, while the girls had higher peer attachment scores and higher school life adjustment scores than the boys. Second, every sub-element of school life adjustment was significantly negatively correlated with parental neglect and abuse regardless of the children's gender. Every sub-element of school life adjustment was significantly positively correlated with the 'communication' and 'trust' sub-elements of peer attachment regardless of the children's gender. In the case of the boys, the 'study activity' and 'peer relation' sub-elements of school life adjustment were significantly negatively correlated with the 'alienation' sub-element of peer attachment. For the girls, every sub-element of school life adjustment was significantly negatively correlated with the alienation sub-element of peer attachment. Finally, the factors of 'parental neglect and abuse', and the peer attachment sub-elements of 'communication', and 'trust' significantly predicted the boys' school life adjustment, while for girls, the significant predictors were 'parental neglect and abuse', 'communication', 'trust', and 'alienation'.

The Effect of Self-Awareness and Other-Awareness on College Life adjustment in Dental Hygiene Students (일부 치위생과 학생의 자기인식 및 타인인식이 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to assess the degree of self-awareness, recognition of others, and adaptation to college life of dental hygiene students, and to identify the factors affecting college life adjustment. Methods: The effect size was calculated using the G*power 3.1.9.4 program, based on the data of 191 people who agreed to participate in the questionnaire. Independent samples t-test, one way ANOVA, Post HOC Scheffe, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted to explore the difference and correlation between self-awareness, perception of others, and college life adjustment according to general characteristics. Results: A significant positive correlation was found in self-awareness (r=.301). The highest positive correlations were with social adjustment in both private (r=.340) and public self-awareness (r=.331) (p<0.01). Recognition of others (r=-.051) showed a negative correlation with college life adjustment, though it was not statistically significant. As factors for adapting to college life, private self-awareness (β=.232) and public self-awareness (β=.254) had a positive (+) effect, and internal self-awareness (β=-.205) was found to have a negative (-) effect (p<0.01) Conclusion: The self-awareness and recognition of others among dental hygiene students influence their smooth adjustment to college life. Improvement measures are recommended to enhance adaptability to college life and develop core competencies related to their major
