  • In this paper, the UWB (Ultra Wide Band) band-pass filter (BPF) with compact-size using impedance mismatching in transmission line and SIR (Stepped Impedance Resonator) instead of open stubs is presented. The proposed BPF have 103 % of bandwidth and 11.2 GHz of center frequency, respectively. In additional, the operation frequencies of the suggested BPF are 4.8 GHz to 16 GHz. In this structure, the length of the transmission line is reduced to half compared with the original one by impedance mismatching technique with low frequency band (sub harmonics) and harmonic components. Also, the open stub can be used for SIR due to reduced size. Experimental results show that the insertion and return losses are 0.35 dB and 15.1 dB, respectively and the filter size is $8.92{\times}10.6mm^2$. The proposed BPF is in good agreement.

  • This paper presents a bandpass wireless 3-D chip to chip interface technique. The proposed technique uses direct amplitude modulation of the free running oscillator which especially utilizes the coupling capacitance between two stacked chips as a part of the resonator. Therefore, the oscillator is three dimensionally configured and a simple envelope detector can be used as a receiver without any additional matching circuitry. The proposed link was designed and fabricated using 110 nm CMOS technology and experimental results successfully showed the data transmission at a data rate of 2 Gb/s for the stacked chips with a thickness of 50 ${\mu}m$ consuming 4.32 mW. The sizes of the Tx and Rx chips are 0.045 $mm^2$ and 0.029 $mm^2$, respectively.

  • In this paper a K-band harmonic oscillator competitive to ordinary Push-Push type oscillators is introduced. This oscillator is composed of two-X-band dielectric resonance circuits. To favor its harmonic generation, the load effect and the bias effect are studied to allow the maximum harmonic distortion. As results, the dielectric resonated load and the class A bias are used for the 2nd harmonic generation. analytical study for modelling of voltage controlled dielectric resonator is carried out with theoretical background. The performance of the circuit is evaluated by simulation using harmonic balanced method. The novel structure has ont only a voltage tuning circuit but also an output port at fundamental frequency as the function of prescaler for phase lockede loop application on the just single oscillation structure. In experimentation, the output freqneyc of the 2nd harmonic signal is 20.5GHz and the maximum power level of output is +5.5dBm without additional post amplifiers. the harmonic oscillator exhibits -30dBc of high fundamental frequency rejection without added extra filters. The phase noise of -90dBc/Hz at 100kHz off-carrier has been achieved under free running condition, that satisfies phase noise requirement of IESS 308. The proposed oscillator may be utilized as the clean and stable fixed local oscillator in Transmit Block Upconvertor(TBU) or Low oise Block downconvertor(LNB) for K/Ka-band digital communications and satellite broadcastings.

  • A single-mode erbium-doped fiber laser is constructed by using a intracore fiber Bragg grating and a unidirectional fiber loop mirror. The laser cavity is designed in such a way that the laser beam forms a travelling wave in the gain medium by placing the erbium-doped fiber inside the unidirectional loop and that the wavelength-selective feedback is made from the outside of the loop by a fiber grating with 0.2 nm reflection linewidth. An additional fiber ring resonator is constructed and used as an optical spectrum analyzer to observe the variation of the laser mode spectra. As the result, relatively stable single mode, single polarization output is observed for the most of the time except some mode hoppings in minute scale due to enviommental temperature variations. tions.

  • In this paper, a new modeling methodology of thin film bulk acoustic resonator(TFBAR) is presented and the formulations of each lumped element in the model are also introduced. The new model is based upon the Mason model that is a reasonable model to explain the physical characteristics of unit TFBAR. After simplifying the modified Mason model with an additional dielectric loss term, the new model similar to Modified Butterworth-Van Dyke(MBVD) model is complete. The proposed model has three optimization variables which is half of the MBVD model. As a result, the curve fittings for the measured data are much faster and more accurate than any other conventional models. Moreover, it is very useful to design the bandpass filters or voltage controlled oscillators due to the design parameters, such as resonant and anti-resonant frequency, which can reflect the intentions of designer in the model.

  • The vibrational behavior of nanoelements is critical in determining how a nanostructure behaves. However, combining vibrational analysis with stability analysis allows for a more comprehensive knowledge of a structure's behavior. As a result, the goal of this research is to characterize the behavior of nonlocal nanocyndrical beams with uniform and nonuniform cross sections. The nonuniformity of the beams is determined by three distinct section functions, namely linear, convex, and exponential functions, with the length and mass of the beams being identical. For completely clamped, fully pinned, and cantilever boundary conditions, Eringen's nonlocal theory is combined with the Timoshenko beam model. The extended differential quadrature technique was used to solve the governing equations in this research. In contrast to the other boundary conditions, the findings of this research reveal that the nonlocal impact has the opposite effect on the frequency of the uniform cantilever nanobeam. Furthermore, since the mass of the materials employed in these nanobeams is designed to remain the same, the findings may be utilized to help improve the frequency and buckling stress of a resonator without requiring additional material, which is a cost-effective benefit.

  • In this paper, the equivalent circuit of tapped-line that is applied in the feeding of the band-pass filter with high coupling is suggested and the value of an equivalent circuit is mathematically defined. An equivalent circuit of tapped-line is composed by open stub and additional transmission line, and the electrical lengths of stub and line can be obtained by the impedance of resonator and the inverter. The new equivalent circuit of tapped-line can be simply applied of design of band-pass filter and leads to very good agreement compared with theoretical value. The coupled-line band-pass filter using equivalent circuit of tapped-line shows the insertion loss of 1.97 dB and the return loss of 18.5 dB at the center frequency of 5.8 GHz.

  • Recently, noise reduction in room air conditioners has been one of the important issues as well as cooling efficiency. The rotary compressor is the dominant noise source in an air conditioner. A number of studies have been conducted on reducing compressor noise through improving muffler and resonator design. However the noise from the accumulator, a noise delivering path between compressor and air conditioner, is not fully taken into consideration. The accumulator contains a large inner cavity, and usually generates additional resonance noise during operation. This paper aims to conduct an optimal design for reducing accumulator noise by maximizing the transmission loss within the target frequency range that represents high-order nonlinearity. Design of experiments and radial basis function neural network are used in the context of approximate meta-models, and genetic algorithm is used as an optimization tool.
