Technostress- a term coined by Craig Brod- refers to a modern disease of adaptation caused by an inability to cope with new technologies. Stress is a person's adaptive response to a stimulus that places excessive psychological or physical demands on that person. In a similar vein, technostress can affect a variety of side effect such as low work productivity and resistance against new technology. The purpose of this study is thus to investigate of differences of technostressors using demographic informations such as gender, age, computer use skill, and industrial types. To do this, we conducted independence t-test and analysis of variance. We found that demographic characteristics can affect the differences of technostressors. Conclusions and implications are discussed in the last section of this paper.

The crosstalk is the most serious problem in playing audio signals with more than two speakers. Usually an inverse filter is employed to remove such a Phenomenon. The LNS method, one of most effective design techniques for an inverse filter, has some advantages such as easy implementation and quick computation. However, the inverse filter designed by the LNS method is not easy to adapt immediately for the delivery system change since the pre-measured impulse response is used to design the filter. In this work, we present an adaptive algorithm for the inverse filter design. With the present algorithm. the inverse filter is initially designed by the LNS methods and continuously adjusted to cope with the delivery system changes. To verify the proposed method. some simulations were carried out and the results confirmed that the performance of the crosstalk calculation can be improved in entire frequency range.

Cytokines interleukin (IL) 12 and 23 play critical roles in linking innate and adaptive immune responses. They are members of heterodimeric cytokines, sharing a subunit p40. Although IL12/23 p40 is mainly induced in macrophages and dendritic cells (DCs) after stimulation with microbial Toll-like receptor ligands, methods to monitor the cells that produce IL12/23 p40 in vivo are limited. Recently, the mouse model to track p40-expressing cells with fluorescent reporter, yellow fluorescent protein, has been developed. Macrophages and DCs from these mice faithfully reported p40 induction using the fluorescent marker. Here we took advantage of these reporter mice to screen bio-compounds for p40-inducing activity. After screening hundreds of compounds, we found several extracts inducing IL12/23 p40 gene expression. Treatment of DCs with these extracts induced the expression of MHC class II and co-stimulatory molecules, which implies that these might be useful as adjuvants. Next, the in vivo target immune cells of candidate compounds were examined. The reporter system can be useful to identify cells producing IL12 or IL23 in vivo as well as in vitro. Thus, our cytokine reporter system proved to be a valuable reagent for screening for immunostimulatory molecules and identification of target cells in vivo.

Numerical analysis model is proposed to predict the dynamic behavior of a single-degree-of-freedom structure that is equipped with hybrid base isolation system. Hybrid base isolation system is composed of friction pendulum systems (FPS) and a magnetorheological (MR) damper. A neuro-fuzzy model is used to represent dynamic behavior of the MR damper. Fuzzy model of the MR damper is trained by ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) using various displacement, velocity, and voltage combinations that are obtained from a series of performance tests. Modelling of the FPS is carried out with a nonlinear analytical equation that is derived in this study and neuro-fuzzy training. Fuzzy logic controller is employed to control the command voltage that is sent to MR damper. The dynamic responses of experimental structure subjected to various earthquake excitations are compared with numerically simulated results using neuro-fuzzy modeling method. Numerical simulation using neuro-fuzzy models of the MR damper and FPS predict response of the hybrid base isolation system very well.

The prediction of the actual ultimate capacity of confined concrete columns requires partial confinement utilization under eccentric loading. This is attributed to the reduction in compression zone compared to columns under pure axial compression. Modern codes and standards are introducing the need to perform extreme event analysis under static loads. There has been a number of studies that focused on the analysis and testing of concentric columns. On the other hand, the augmentation of compressive strength due to partial confinement has not been treated before. The higher eccentricity causes smaller confined concrete region in compression yielding smaller increase in strength of concrete. Accordingly, the ultimate eccentric confined strength is gradually reduced from the fully confined value $f_{cc}$ (at zero eccentricity) to the unconfined value $f^{\prime}_c$ (at infinite eccentricity) as a function of the ratio of compression area to total area of each eccentricity. This approach is used to implement an adaptive Mander model for analyzing eccentrically loaded columns. Generalization of the 3D moment of area approach is implemented based on proportional loading, fiber model and the secant stiffness approach, in an incremental-iterative numerical procedure to achieve the equilibrium path of $P-{\varepsilon}$ and $M-{\varphi}$ response up to failure. This numerical analysis is adapted to assess the confining effect in rectangular columns confined with conventional lateral steel. This analysis is validated against experimental data found in the literature showing good correlation to the partial confinement model while rendering the full confinement treatment unsafe.

The Long Term Evolution (LTE) system is designed to provide a high quality data service for fast moving mobile users. It is based on the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and relies its channel estimation on the training samples which are systematically built within the transmitting data. Either a preamble or a lattice type is used for the distribution of training samples and the latter suits better for the multipath fading channel environment whose channel frequency response (CFR) fluctuates rapidly with time. In the lattice-type structure, the estimation of the CFR makes use of the least squares estimate (LSE) for each pilot samples, followed by an interpolation both in time-and in frequency-domain to fill up the channel estimates for subcarriers corresponding to data samples. All interpolation schemes should rely on the pilot estimates only, and thus, their performances are bounded by the quality of pilot estimates. However, the additive noise give rise to high fluctuation on the pilot estimates, especially in a communication environment with low signal-to-noise ratio. These high fluctuations could be monitored in the alternating high values of the first forward differences (FFD) between pilot estimates. In this paper, we analyzed statistically those FFD values and propose a postprocessing algorithm to suppress high fluctuations in the noisy pilot estimates. The proposed method is based on a localized adaptive moving-average filtering. The performance of the proposed technique is verified on a multipath environment suggested on a 3GPP LTE specification. It is shown that the mean-squared error (MSE) between the actual CFR and pilot estimates could be reduced up to 68% from the noisy pilot estimates.

Load balancing attempts to improve the performance of a distributed computing system by transferring some of the workload of a congested site to others. A load balancing scheme that supports both the source-initiated and the server- initiated load balancing is proposed in this paper. It can model both the m/m/1 queue(no load balancing) and the m/m/n queue(perfect load balancing) as the extreme State variables are replicated into every site, and copy consistency constraints are relaxed more weakly. We propose weak copy consistency constraints which correlate the outdated state information to that of the current state. We also derive sufficient conditions under which each scheduler can guarantee the load balancing without communication Using this model, the problem of load balancing is converted to that of maintaining the consistency of states and communication overhead becomes less than that of the bidding algorithm. The scheme is simulated by event tracing, compared to the two extreme cases and the bidding algorithm. The results show that the mean response time and the number of messages are reduced by 0-35% and 40-100% respectively, compared with the bidding algorithm. Finally the effects of some system parameters are described.
In this paper, an intelligent robust control system (IRCS) for precision tracking control of permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo drives is proposed. The IRCS comprises a recurrent wavelet-based interval type-2 fuzzy-neural-network controller (RWIT2FNNC), an RWIT2FNN estimator (RWIT2FNNE) and a compensated controller. The RWIT2FNNC combines the merits of a self-constructing interval type-2 fuzzy logic system, a recurrent neural network and a wavelet neural network. Moreover, it performs the structure and parameter-learning concurrently. The RWIT2FNNC is used as the main tracking controller to mimic the ideal control law (ICL) while the RWIT2FNNE is developed to approximate an unknown dynamic function including the lumped parameter uncertainty. Furthermore, the compensated controller is designed to achieve $L_2$ tracking performance with a desired attenuation level and to deal with uncertainties including approximation errors, optimal parameter vectors and higher order terms in the Taylor series. Moreover, the adaptive learning algorithms for the compensated controller and the RWIT2FNNE are derived by using the Lyapunov stability theorem to train the parameters of the RWIT2FNNE online. A computer simulation and an experimental system are developed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed IRCS. All of the control algorithms are implemented on a TMS320C31 DSP-based control computer. The simulation and experimental results confirm that the IRCS grants robust performance and precise response regardless of load disturbances and PMSM parameters uncertainties.
Many methods have been studied to estimate the time delay between incoming signals to two receivers. In the case of the method based on the channel estimation technique, the relative delay between the input signals of the two receivers is estimated as an impulse response of the channel between the two signals. In this case, the characteristic of the channel has sparsity. Most of the existing methods do not take advantage of the channel sparseness. In this paper, we propose a time delay estimation method using BPD (Basis Pursuit Denoising) optimization technique, which is one of the sparse signal optimization methods, in order to utilize the channel sparseness. Compared with the existing GCC (Generalized Cross Correlation) method, adaptive eigen decomposition method and RZA-LMS (Reweighted Zero-Attracting Least Mean Square), the proposed method shows that it can mitigate the threshold phenomenon even under a white Gaussian source, a colored signal source and oceanic mammal sound source.

In this paper, we proposes a D-STTD(Double-Space Time Transmit Diversity) communication system with AMC scheme and analyzes its performance using simulation experiments. The AMC scheme selects an optimal channel coding rate and modulation scheme based on the channel response data for signal transmission, creating a balance between error rate and throughput to improve the overall system throughput and transmission quality. The D-STTD scheme complements the conventional STTD(Space Time Transmit Diversity) scheme, yielding about twice the throughput. The simulation results show that the probability of selecting a high MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme) level increased as the SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) improved. Furthermore, the D-STTD communication system with AMC scheme provided a more uniform throughput distribution throughout the entire SNR range compared to its counterpart which did not apply AMC scheme. Also, the maximum throughput of the D-STTD communication system with AMC scheme was twice that of a conventional AMC communication system or a STTD communication system with AMC scheme.
