  • Recently space-time model in spatial data analysis is widly used. In this paper we applied this model to analysis of greenhouse whitefly. For handling time component, we used ARMA model and autoregressive error model and for outliers, we adapted Mugglestone's method. We compared space-time models and geostatistic model with MSE and MAPE.

  • A modular multilevel converter is widely adapted for a high-voltage direct current power transmission system. This study proposes a design methodology for a novel digital control that mitigates the negative effects caused by time delay, including communication transport delay for a modular multilevel converter. The modeling and negative effect of time delay are analyzed theoretically in a frequency domain, and its compensation methodology based on an inverse model is described fully with practical considerations. The proposed methodology is verified through several simulation results using a modular 21-level converter system.

  • The laboratory time for students in engineering has to be managed in that way that it provides students width maximal practice hours. However, it usually takes too much time to learn basic knowledge for the experiment and the directions of the equipment. In this paper, we introduce the web contents which students can study basic knowledge the directions of the equipment without regard to time or place. As the result that we let students study the contents before the class, they were easily adapted to handle the equipments for the experiment so that we can revise their execution abilities. And also there were effects such as reducing the total experiment's time and a rate of damage of equipment.

  • Ocean color products derived from remote sensing satellite data are useful for monitoring the sea water quality such as the concentrations of chlorophyll, sediments and dissolved organic matter. Currently, ocean color products derived from MODIS data can be requested from NASA over the internet. However, due to the bandwidth limitation of most users in this region, and the time delay in data delivery, the products cannot be use for near-real time monitoring of sea water chlorophyll. CRISP operates a MODIS data receiving station for environmental monitoring purposes. MODIS data have been routinely received and processed to level 1B. We have adapted the higher level processing algorithms from the Institutional Algorithms provided by NASA to run in a standalone environment. The implemented algorithms include the MODIS ocean color algorithms. Seasonal chlorophyll concentration composite can be compiled for the region. By comparing the near-real time chlorophyll product with the seasonal composite, anomaly in chlorophyll concentration can be detected.

  • In this paper, vehicle tracking is implemented using parametric active contour. Extract objects from the background area is the essential step in vehicle tracking. We focus our algorithm on the situations such that the camera is fixed. However, if a simple and ordinary algorithm is adapted to achieve real-time processing, it produces much noise and the vehicle tracking results is poor. For this reason, in this paper, we propose a parametric active contour model algorithm to achieve better vehicle tracking. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is satisfactory.

  • In this study, we developed new process for doping poly-Si film. Sb(antimony) thin film was used as doping source. Sb was evaporated on poly-Si film deposited by LPCVD fallowed by annealing. We investigate sheet resistance variation with annealing temperature and time. Finally we adapted this process to poly-Si TFT fabrication.

  • In this paper a GPS receiver is developed using commercial chipsets. GP2010 RF front end and GP2021 Multi-channel correlator of GEC PLESSY are adapted in designing the receiver hardware. MC 68340 is used for controlling the correlator GP2021 and implementing the navigation processing. Also presented are some test results of the developed receiver whose software has an interrupt driven structure rather than common real-time kernel based structure.

  • SDI has been developing mobile 3D display for years. For mobile applications, we adapted parallax barrier method. We have developed auto stereoscopic swing 3D display in which people can 3D image in both portrait and landscape mode. Furthermore to increase 3D resolution, we have developed a high resolution 3D display using time division multiplexing parallax barrier method

  • Joint probabilistic data association filter(JPDAF) for multi-target tracking was developed for real-time implementation, while it abandoned an algorithm for track initiation. In this paper, we propose three features for track initiation that can be adapted to the JPDA filter. In addition, with the proposed approaches, the performance of track maintenance is evaluated in the case of tracks being near. To eliminate the abundant false tracks, we exploit the simple method using the state error covariances. Simulations are performed to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approaches.

  • This paper presents an Economic Lot Scheduling Problem in which controllable production rates are considered. We also take into account the controllable range of production rate (i.e., maximum and minimum production rate) of each product and the mold cost which varies to the production rate. A mathematical model is developed and an iterative solution procedure is suggested. The objective of this problem is to minimize production related cost and the decision variables are common production cycle time and production rate of each product. As a case study, we adapted this model to the press machine of a company.
