This paper proposes a new protocol to enhance the routing performance and applies our proposal to AODV (Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing) protocol, which is a typical on-demand routing protocol in MANET. In general, when a route repair procedure is performed due to the transfer or failure of a node, the source node re-initiate a route discovery procedure in most routing protocols of MANET. This causes to increase the control traffic overhead largely and degrade the routing performance. The main idea of our study is to provide a methodology that can minimize the control traffic overhead and enhance the performance by initiating a route repair procedure at destination node and utilizing the previous routing information maximumly. To evaluate the performance of the our mechanism, we have performed a series of simulations. The simulations include comparisons with AODV and AODV with local repair. The simulations have been executed under simulation environments taking into account mobility speed and network site. The simulation results show that our proposal overall outperforms the existing protocols.

With the Development of Wireless Network Technology and Wireless Link Technology, Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) is Attracting Attention as a Key Technology to Construct the Wireless Transit Network. The WMN has been Studied for a Long Time in Various Fields, however there are still many Problems that have not been solved yet. One of them is the Routing Problem to find an Optimal path in a Multi-hop Network Composed of Wireless Links. In the Hybrid-WMN, which is one of the Three Types of WMN, Optimal Path Selection Requires Research on Path Search Protocols that Effectively use the Infrastructure Mesh as a Transit Network, Together with Research for a Routing Metric with Excellent Performance. Therefore, this Paper Proposes a Dual Mode-AODV(Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector) for Hybrid-WMN. Simulation result shows that the Path Selection Delay was Reduced by 52% than AODV when the Proposed Dual Mode-AODV was applied.
In mobile ad hoc networks the most popular on demand routing protocols are the Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocol and the Ad hoc On demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol. These and other representative standard routing protocols are designed to find and maintain only a single path. Whenever there is a link break on the active route, source node has to invoke a route discovery process from the beginning and it causes a lot of overhead. Multipath routing protocols, which can alleviate these problems by establishing multiple alternative paths between a source and a destination, are widely studied. In this paper we propose a node disjoint multipath discovery technique based on AODV local route discovery. This technique can find and build completely separated node disjoint multi paths from a source to a destination as many as possible. It will make routing more robust and stable.

TMMR(Tactical Multiband Multirole Radio) is one of the important equipments for TICN which is our next military tactical communication system and it supplies to the distribution of traffic of C2(Command & Control) and SA(Situation Awareness) for unit of Brigade and below. In this paper, we define the tactical needs of military communication, and evaluate MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Network) protocol for the future digital battle-field through performance comparison with a network simulator.
Most ad-hoc routing protocols such as AODV(Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) and DSR(Dynamic Source Routing) do not try to search for new routes if the network topology does not change. Hence, with low node mobility, traffic may be concentrated on several nodes, which results in long end-to-end delay due to congestion at the nodes. Furthermore, since some specific nodes are continuously used for long duration, their battery power may be rapidly exhausted. Expiration of nodes causes connections traversing the nodes to be disrupted and makes many routing requests be generated at the same time. Therefore, we propose a load balancing approach called Simple Load-balancing Approach (SLA), which resolves the traffic concentration problem by allowing each node to drop RREQ (Route Request Packet) or to give up packet forwarding depending on its own traffic load. Meanwhile, mobile nodes nay deliberately give up forwarding packets to save their own energy. To make nodes volunteer in packet forwarding. we also suggest a payment scheme called Protocol-Independent Fairness Algorithm (PIEA) for packet forwarding. To evaluate the performance of SLA, we compare two cases where AODV employs SLA or not. Simulation results show that SLA can distribute traffic load well and improve performance of entire ad-hoc networks.

As broadcasting in Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is the process that a node sends a packet to all other nodes in the network. it is used for routing protocols such as Ad hoc On demand Distance Vector (AODV) to disseminate control information for establishing the routes. In this paper, we propose Probabilistic Broadcasting mechanism based on Distance Ratio between sender and receive node in MANETs. The proposed approach is based on the combination of probability and distance based approach. A mobile node receiving broadcast packets determines the probability of rebroadcasting considering distance ratio from sender. The distance ratio of a node is calculated by the distance from sender and the length of radio field strength. As a node with high distance ratio is located far away from sender, rebroadcast probability is set to high value. On contrary, the low rebroadcast probability is set for a node with low distance ratio which is close to sender. So it reduces packets transmission caused by the early die-out of rebroadcast packets. Compared with the simple flooding and fixed probabilistic flooding by simulation, our approach shows better performances results. Proposed algorithm can reduce the rebroadcast packet delivery more than 30% without scanting reachability, where as it shows up to 96% reachability compared with flooding.
Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) has the characteristics such as dynamic network topology, constrained power capacity, constrained wireless bandwidth and quality, etc. For MANETs AODV (Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) routing protocol has been proposed. However AODV routing protocol has some inefficiency related to re-routing path establishment corresponding to node's failure. In this paper, we propose a Self-Healing Routing Technique for MANETs that uses the one-hop nodes from the failed node to set up the routing path efficiently. We also include simulation results to show the performance of our method.
An advantage of the mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is that mobile nodes can self-organize the network topology without the help of network infrastructure. However, for the perfect self-organization of the MANET, each mobile node needs to self-configure its address. Even though a mobile node configures a unique address during the booting time, its address may conflict with nodes in other MANETs since MANETs containing the same address can be merged. The address autoconfiguration protocol implemented in this work consists of the strong DAD (Duplicate Address Detection) and the weak DAD. A unique address of a node is assigned by the strong DAD during the booting time and the weak DAD is used to detect address conflict and resolve address conflict during the ad hoc routing. In this work, we have implemented address autoconfiguration in the IPv6-based MANET using AODV as the routing protocol. We describe how the IPv6 address autoconfiguration is implemented and verify our implementation by showing the test scenarios on our testbed.

Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV), is one of well-designed routing protocols in mobile ad hoc networks. It supports the functionality of node mobility modules through multiple control messages to create and maintain paths for data transfer. Even though a number of studies have been conducted to achieve rapid discovery of paths across the network, but few have focused on impact of control messages. This paper proposes a method to adjust the transmission time of messages used in path recovery according to their individual characteristics. Simulation results show the improved performance of the proposed algorithm rather than traditional AODV routing protocol.
