Factors Influencing Physical Activity after Discharge from Hospital for Total Hip Arthroplasty Patients

  • Objective: This study was conducted to identify predictive factors of physical activity in total hip arthroplasty patients, and to provide basic data for the developing physical activity promotion program for total hip arthroplasty patients. Design: Descriptive correlational research. Methods: Data were collected from August 2017 to May 2018. Surveys were distributed to 60 patients in a G university hospital located at J city, Gyeongsangnam-do. Data were analyzed by frequency, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis using SPSS 24 Win program. Results: The variables affecting the 4-week physical activity after discharge were age (β=.07), residence after discharge (β=-.22), cerebrovascular disease (β=-.13), mental and behavioural disease (β=-.11), taking antibiotic (β=-.26), walking ability (β=.41), nutritional status (β=.25), depression (β=.05). The eight variables accounted for 39.4% in the 4-week physical activity (F=4.49 p=.001). The variables affecting the 8-week physical activity after discharge were age (β=.06), waking ability (β=.34), nutritional status (β=.20), exercise self-efficacy (β=.05), depression (β=-.05). The six variables accounted for 28.0% in the 8-week physical activity (F=4.58, p<.001). Conclusions: The walking ability in discharge important to improve the physical activity, there is a need to develop an program to improve walking ability before discharge, in total hip arthroplasty. There is a need to develop a physical activity program to consistently participate in a community.

Factors influencing convergence quality of life of the elderly according to economic activity (경제활동여부에 따른 노인의 융합적 삶의 질 영향 요인)

  • This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the quality of life of the elderly according to economic activity. The subjects of this study were 5,991 elderly aged 65 years or older among subjects of the 7th National Health and Nutrition Survey. The variables of this study consisted of demographic characteristics, physical and psychological factors, data analysis was performed using the complex sample analysis of the IBM SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of this study, the factors that influenced the quality of life of the elderly in economic activity were gender, age, outpatient use frequency, arthritis, activity restrictions, subjective health, and stress, and their explanatory power was 34.2% (p<.001). The factors that influenced the quality of life of the elderly without economic activity were sex, age, number of hospitalizations, high blood pressure, arthritis, hearing impairment, masticatory discomfort, activity restriction, subjective health and stress, and their explanatory power was 35.5% (p<.001). The results of this study can provide basic data on the factors affecting the quality of life according to economic activities in the intervention of the elderly's quality of life. Intervention is required to improve the quality of life for the elderly according to economic activity.

Comparison of Factors Affecting According to the Quality of Life Level in Korean Adults with Diabetes Mellitus (한국 당뇨병 성인의 삶의 질 수준에 따른 영향요인 비교)

  • This secondary analysis study used the 2015 Korea Health Panel data to identify the difference of factors affecting the quality of life (QoL) of Korean adults with diabetes mellitus (DM). The data from 1,343 subjects who met the criteria for screening was analyzed by multiple linear regression and quantile regression analyses. As a result, the average QoL of the subjects was .86 (±.14). The factors affecting the QoL of the subjects were age, gender, education level, spouse, economic activity, type of health insurance, and regular physical activity (all p<.05). However, there were differences of the results when dividing the subjects into three groups according to their QoL level. The factors for the lower 25% group were age, gender, education level, spouse, economic activity, type of health insurance, and regular physical activity, and those factors for the middle 50% group were age, gender, education level, spouse, type of health insurance, and regular physical activity, and those factors for the top 75% group were spouse, economic activity, household income, type of health insurance, and duration of DM. Based on these results, it is important to develop and provide a differentiated intervention strategy that considers the influential factors in order to improve the QoL of Korean adults with DM.

An Analysis of Nurse's Perception of Internal Marketing Activities Affecting on Nurse's Turnover Intention, Nursing Task Performance and Nursing Productivity (간호사가 지각하는 내부마케팅활동 정도가 간호사의 이직의도, 간호업무수행 및 간호업무생산성에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose was to analyze the effects of internal marketing activity factors on nurse's turnover intention, nursing task performance and nursing productivity. Methods: The subjects were 355 nurses who were working at the 3 universities hospital over 1 year. The instruments were used of internal marketing activity factors(Lee, 2001), turnover intension(Lee, 1995), nursing task performance(Park, 1988) and nursing productivity(McNeese-Smith, 1996). Results: The mean score of internal marketing activity factors was 2.79, education and training 2.97, individualization 2.93, communication 2.87, promotion 2.76, work environment 2.63, reward system 2.62, and management vision for employee 2.61. The turnover intention was 3.12, nursing task performance 3.49, and nursing productivity 3.38. The internal marketing activity factors were negatively correlated with turnover intention(r=-0.37, p<0.0001), and positively correlated with nursing task performance(r=0.29, p<0.0001) and nursing productivity(r=0.30, p<0.0001). The key predictor of turnover intension was reward system, education and training, communication, and salary. They explained 35.0% of the total variance. In nursing task performance, communication, management vision for employee, salary and unit explained 26.0% of the total variance. In nursing productivity, communication, reward, education and training, salary, and position explained 24.0%. Conclusions: To increase nurse's nursing task performance and nursing productivity and to decrease turnover intention, it is necessary to concentrate on improving communication and reward system in the internal marketing activity factors. Through these activities, the effectiveness of internal marketing strategies will be enhanced and finally, nursing organizational outcome will be increased.

  • An effective strategy for obesity intervention should include demographic, health-related, and work-related factors that are most relevant to the target population. Factors most strongly associated with obesity may differ for groups of individuals across industries or age categories. The purpose of this study was to provide current knowledge about the possible association between psychosocial job stress and immune parameters in blood. We assessed obesity-related parameters as well as the natural killer cell activity (NKCA) in female workers. There was a significant difference in the obesity-related blood parameters, i.e. fasting blood sugar level, according to age (p<0.05). Moreover, it showed a significant difference in NK cell activity between the obese and non-obese factor groups (p<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated that NKCA was closely correlated with obesity related factors. In the future, it would have to study the biological changes which increase the activity of the immune factors to the immunological response.

Factors Influencing Physical Activity among Community-dwelling Older Adults with Type 2 Diabetes: A Path Analysis (지역사회에 거주하는 제2형 당뇨병 노인의 신체활동에 영향을 미치는 요인: 경로분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify factors influencing physical activity among community-dwelling older adults with type 2 diabetes. The study design was based on the Theory of Triadic Influence. Methods: A total of 242 older adults with type 2 diabetes participated in this study. Six variables related to physical activity in older adults, including self-efficacy, social normative belief, attitudes, intention, experience, and level of physical activity, were measured using reliable instruments. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation analyses, and a path analysis. Results: The mean physical activity score was 104.2, range from zero to 381.21. The path analysis showed that self-efficacy had the greatest total effect on physical activity. Also, experience had direct and total effects on physical activity as well as mediated the paths of social normative beliefs to attitudes and intention to physical activity. These factors accounted for 10% of the total variance, and the fit indices of the model satisfied the criteria of fitness. Conclusion: The findings of the study reveal the important role of self-efficacy and past experience in physical activity in older adults with type 2 diabetes.

Social Readjustment and Relating Factors in Stroke Survivors (뇌졸중환자의 사회적 재적응과 관련요인)

  • Social readjustment is very important in rehabilitation of stroke survivors. The purpose of this study was to examine the level of social readjustment and related factors in stroke survivors. Especially, to find the most useful predictor for social readjustment is a major point of this research. The study included 254 outpatients who were given follow-up care after discharge from. Occupational rehabilitation and resumption of the perceived meaningful social activity prios to the stroke were used to measure social readjustment. The resumptions of first meaningful social activity was the best predictor for life satisfaction in stroke survivors(r=.245, p<.01). The substance of perceived meaningful social activities were job, meeting with friends, hobby and activities for the family. The sum of meaningful social activities (r=.175, p<.01) and occupational rehabilitation (r=.116, p<.05) were significantly related to life satisfaction. There were significant difference in IADL, depression and life satisfaction according to resumption of meaningful social activity. But, occupational rehabilitation was not related to depression. The level of social readjustment was different between occupational rehabilitation and resumption of meaningful social activity. It was 45.7% in the first meaningful social activity and 36.6% in occupational rehabilitation. The related factors with resumption of the first meaningful social activity were that of IADL, depression, illness intrusiveness and cognitive function. And the level of IADL, illness intrusiveness, cognitive function, and age were significantly related to occupational rehabilitation. In conclusion, we suggest that the resumption of the first meaningful activity in stroke survivors is the best predictor of social rehabilitation. Thus, nurses need to work for resumption of meaningful activity as well as occupational rehabilitation.

Youth Social Networking Service (SNS) Behavior in Indonesian Culinary Activity

  • Purpose: In this paper, we provide an illustration of Indonesian youth Social Networking Service (SNS) behavior and its relation to their culinary activity. Specifically, their behavior of culinary activity preferences and also the factors affecting their action of spending their money. Data and methodology: We gathered primary data from stratified random questionnaire survey (406 youth). The gathered data was analyzed using text data mining and statistics using R statistical computing language. Results: 1) We found out why our respondents are interested in following the accounts of SNS food influencers: i.e. visually attracted to the posts, as their reference to find places to dine out, as their reference to try new food menu and to get nostalgic feeling about the food. 2) The respondents decide to actually go to the recommended culinary places because of several factors, specifically, its description (visual and text), location, word of mouth (WoM), the experience of being to that place and price. 3) Important factors affecting culinary spent are income, number of following food influencer account, SNS usage time and their interest when looking at WoM. Conclusions: SNS behavior influences Indonesian youth culinary activity preferences and spent.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the caries activity and cariogenic factors in children in different residence areas. The subjects of the study were 268 kindergarten children who were selected from the downtown area(D), apartment area(A), suburban area(S), and rural area(R) in and around the city of Iksan, Korea. Caries activity was measured as past caries experience (dft index and dfs index) and salivary reductase activity (Resazurin Disc Test scores). Cariogenic factors were investigated by a questionnaire.   • Shopping is the activity not only purchasing goods/services but also pursuing the emotional satisfaction. Browsing can be defined as shopping behavior looking around the store without purchasing intention. Through the browsing activity, consumers are able to collect the information and be ready for the possible purchases while marketers have an opportunity to inform consumers of products/ stores/ brands. The more browsing activity, the more stimuli for buying, the more unplanned/ impulse buying. Therefore, this is the time that consumer's browsing activity is getting importance in the area of fashion marketing. The purpose of this study was to examine attracting and hindering factors related to browsing activity especially for purchase of fashion items, using a qualitative research method. An in-depth interview was conducted with 10 female shoppers ranged age 21-50. Included in the questions were consumer's opinions about VMD, convenience, traffic, salesman's attitude, companions, prices, sizes and fitting arrangement. The results of this study provide fashion store managers with the detailed and practical information to draw the consumers in the store.
