A novel active controlled primary current cutting-off zero-voltage and zero-current switching (ZVZCS) PWM three-level dc-dc converter (TLC) is proposed in this paper. The proposed converter has some attractive advantages. The OFF voltage on the primary switches is only Vin/2 due to the series connected structure. The leading-leg switches can obtain zero-voltage switching (ZVS), and the lagging-leg switches can achieve zero-current switching (ZCS) in a wide load range. Two MOSFETs, referred to as cutting-off MOSFETs, with an ultra-low on-state resistance are used as active controlled primary current cutting-off components, and the added conduction loss can be neglected. The added MOSFETs are switched ON and OFF with ZCS that is irrelevant to the load current. Thus, the auxiliary switching loss can be significantly minimized. In addition, these MOSFETs are not series connected in the circuit loop of the dc input bus bar and the primary switches, which results in a low parasitic inductance. The operation principle and some relevant analyses are provided, and a 6-kW laboratory prototype is built to verify the proposed converter.

A Single-phase Active Rectifier (SAR) [4-6] with high power factor capability is adopted to satisfy the international harmonic current standards such as IEC 1000-3-2. To minimize the input current distortion and to apply the control IC, such as FA5331, UC3854, ML4821 and so forth, the new adequate sensing circuits of the input voltage and current are proposed. There are tow methods applicable the SAR to inverter air-conditioner from the viewpoint of both efficiency and cost. The selecting methods of the passive components are presented for the two approaches. Using the determined components, the loss analyses are carried out. The prototype SAR circuits of these two approaches with 3kW power consumption are built and the operation and performance of the circuits with power factor correction capability are verified through the experimental results.
This paper proposes a new three-phase diode rectifier system with a sinusoidal input current at unity power factor and a regulated and isolated output voltage at low level. The inherent natural wave-shaping capability of the reduced kVA polyphase transformer together with an active current wave-shaping technique results in a significant reduction of input and output filter requirements associated with switching ripple and EMI. The operation principles are described along with a design example and a comparative evaluation. Experimental results on a 1.5kW prototype are provided to validate the proposed concept.
This papaer is study on thermal analysis of the active-front-end(AFE) rectifier for solid-state-transformer(SST) applications. finite element analysis simulation model is combined by switching component model, power diode and heat-sink model. thermal model is calculated by computer program and feedback the result. using simulation result analysis switching loss and compare to thermal diffusion of the heat in the model for steady-state operation.
In this paper, a new active snubber circuit that overcomes most of the drawbacks of the normal "zero voltage transition pulse width modulation" (ZVT-PWM) converter is proposed to contrive a new family of ZVT- PWM converter. A converter with the proposed snubber circuit can also operate at light load conditions. A design procedure of the proposed active snubber circuit is also presented. Additionally, at full output power in the proposed soft switching converter, the main switch loss is about 27[%] and the total circuit loss is about 36[%] of that in its counterpart hard switching converter, and so the overall efficiency, which is about 91[%] in the hard switching case, increases to about 97[%].
This paper presents a WLAN band active monopole antenna which is made of a CPW-fed monopole antenna and a low noise amplifier implemented on single-layer low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) substrate. Planar active antenna measure return loss and power test. (drain voltage = 4V, gate voltage = -0.6V). The bandwidth, is 540MHz, return loss is -38dB.
This study proposes an optimal design process for a high-frequency transformer that has a large leakage inductance for dual-active-bridge converters. Notably, conventional design processes have large errors in designing leakage transformers because mathematically modeling the leakage inductance of such transformers is difficult. In this work, the geometric parameters of a shell-type transformer are identified, and finite element analysis(FEA) simulation is performed to determine the magnetization inductance, leakage inductance, and copper loss of various shapes of shell-type transformers. Regression models for magnetization and leakage inductances and copper loss are established using the simulation results and the machine learning technique. In addition, to improve the regression models' performance, the regression models are tuned by adding featured parameters that consider the physical characteristics of the transformer. With the regression models, optimal high-frequency transformer designs and the Pareto front (in terms of volume and loss) are determined using NSGA-II. In the Pareto front, a desirable optimal design is selected and verified by FEA simulation and experimentation. The simulated and measured leakage inductances of the selected design match well, and this result shows the validity of the proposed design process.

In this paper, operation characteristics of the Zero-voltage-Switching(ZVS) mode and Non-Zero-Voltage-Switching (NZVS) mode of the active clamp (ACL) forward converter are compared through the loss analysis. The losses of semiconductor devices, transformer and passive elements of the converter are analyzed and compared for each type of operation mode. In order to verify the validity of the analysis, we have built a 50W ACL forward converter and measured the losses of the converter. From the experiment it is known that the ACL forward converter shows nearly same loss distribution for both of operation modes

This paper presents a new prototype of soft-switching DC-DC power converter with a high frequency transformer link which has two active power controlled switches in full bridge rectifier with capacitor input type smoothing filter. In this DC-DC converter, ZVS of the inverter in transformer primary side and ZCS of active rectifier area in secondary side can be completely achieved by taking advantage of parasitic inductor component of high-frequency transformer and loss less snubbing capacitors. Its operation principle and salient features are described. The steady-state operating characteristics of the proposed DC-DC power converter are illustrated and discussed on the basis of the simulation results in addition to the experimental ones obtained by 2kw-40kHz power converter breadboard set up.
This paper presents the efficiency analysis of a critical current mode interleaved PFC rectifier, in which each of three different semiconductor switches is employed as the active switch. The Si FET, SiC FET, and GaN FET are consecutively used with the prototype PFC rectifier, and the efficiency of the PFC rectifier with each different semiconductor switch is analyzed. An equivalent circuit model of the PFC rectifier, which incorporates all the internal losses of the PFC rectifier, is developed. The rms values of the current waveforms main circuit components are calculated. By adapting the rms current waveforms to the equivalent model, all the losses are broken down and individually analyzed to assess the conduction loss, switching loss, and magnetic loss in the PFC rectifier. This study revealed that the GaN FET offers the highest overall efficiency with the least loss among the three switching devices. The GaN FET yields 96% efficiency at 90 V input and 97.6% efficiency at 240 V, under full load condition. This paper also confirmed that the efficiency of the three switching devices largely depends on the turn-on resistance and parasitic capacitance of the respective switching devices.
