The researchers in the field of cognitive science and learning science suggest that the teaching activity induces the elaborative and meaningful learning. Actually, lots of research findings have shown the beneficial effect of learning by teaching such as peer tutoring. But peer tutoring has some limitations in the practical learning context. To overcome some limitations, the new concept of "learning by teaching" through the agent called Teachable Agent. The teachable agent is a modified version of traditional intelligent tutoring system that assigns a role of tutor to teach the agent. The teachable agent monitors individual difference and provides a student with a chance for deep learning and motivation to learn by allowing them to play an active role in the process of learning. That is, The teaching activity induces the elaborative and meaningful learning. This study compared the effects of our teachable agent, KORI, and peer tutoring on the cognition and motivation. The field experiment was conducted to examine whether learning by teaching the teachable agent would be more effective than peer tutoring and reading condition. In the experiment, all participants took 30 minutes lesson on rock and rock cycle together to acquire the base knowledge in the domain. After the lesson, participants were randomly assigned to one of the three experimental conditions; reading condition, peer tutoring condition, and teachable agent condition. Next, participants of each condition moved into separated place and performed their own learning activity. After finishing all of the learning activities in each condition, all participants were instructed to rate the interestingness using a 5-point scale on their own learning activity and leaning material, and were given the comprehension test. The results indicated that the teachable agent condition and the peer tutoring condition showed more interests in the learning than the reading condition. It is suggested that teachable agent has more advantages in overcoming the several practical limitations of peer tutoring such as restrictions in time and place, tutor's cognitive burden, unnecessary interaction during peer tutoring. The applicability and prospects of the teachable agent as an efficient substitute for peer tutoring and traditional intelligent tutoring system were also discussed.

PLCγ also contains two pleckstrin homology (PH) domains for membrane-associated phosphoinositide binding and protein-protein interactions. While PLCγ1 is widely expressed and appears to regulate intracellular signaling in many tissues, PLCγ2 expression is restricted to cells of hematopoietic systems and seems to play a role in the regulation of immune response. A distinct mechanism for PLCγ activation is linked to an increase in phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residue, Y783. Recent studies have demonstrated that PLCγ mutations are closely related to cancer, immune disease, and brain disorders. Our review focused on the physiological roles of PLCγ by means of its structure and enzyme activity and the pathological functions of PLCγ via mutational analysis obtained from various human diseases and PLCγ knockout mice.

Acetolactate synthase (ALS) is the common enzyme in the biosynthesis of branched chain amino acids, Val, Leu, and Ile in bacteria, yeast, and higher plants. The enzyme is target site of several classes of structually diverse herbicides, including the sulfonylureas, the imidazolinones, the triazolopyrimidines, and the primidyl-oxy-benzoates. We have synthesized new triazolopyrimidine (TP) derivatives, and determined their inhibitory activities on barley ALS. $lC_{50}$ values for the active compounds were 3.2 nM-0.62 mM, and some of them appeared to be potent inhibitors. The progress curves for inhibition of ALS by TP4, a representative derivative, indicated that the extent of inhibition increased with incubation time. The inhibition of ALS by TP4 showed mixed-type inhibition with respect to pyruvate. Dual inhibition analyses of TP4 versus imidazolinone Cadre and feedback inhibitor Leu suggested that three different classes of inhibitors bind to ALS in a mutually exclusive manner. Chemical modification of tyrosyl residues of ALS decreased sensitivity of ALS to TP4, while modification of tryptophan and cysteine did not affect the sensitivity.

Objectives:This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the attachment promotion program which was designed to promote attachment between autistic children and their mothers. The program was consisted of play activity centered mother-child interaction, educational activity for mothers by lecture, video-feedback session, and emotional supports. Methods:The subjects were consisted of 11 pairs of mother and child(7 for participant group:PG, 4 for non-participant group:NPG), who were 2-4 years-old autistic children. The data were collected by video-taping, behavioral observations, and analyzed by Wilcoxon Rank(Sign) Sum Test and Content Analysis. Results:The total attachment score increased from pre test to post-test of PG was significantly higher than that of NPG. The scores of attachment behaviors indicating proximity, mutuality and affect increased significantly(p<.05), while some behaviors indicating synchrony and jointattention did not. Especially the affectionate behaviors of PG demonstrated the most notable changes and they became more active, voluntary and reciprocal. After the program, the mother's nurturing behaviors of PG increased more than that of NPG, with no significant difference between two groups. The mother's behaviors to her child of PG became more child-centered, positively responsive, supportively expressive. As the attachment was promoted, there were also positive changes in the children's autistic behaviors with a great deal of individual differences. Conclusion:Our findings suggest that Mother-Child Attachment Promotion Program could be an effective early intervention model for autistic children.
This study aimed to examine the current state of music therapy for adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) by conducting a survey of music therapists. Completed surveys from 32 certified music therapists were included for analysis. The questionnaire was composed of 38 items that asked about the participants' background, work environment and music therapy implementation experience (including assessment, goal establishment, intervention strategy and difficulties). The results of the study showed that music therapy for adults with ID was practiced in diverse facilities. Enhancing social interaction was the most frequently set goal by music therapists, whereas facilities mostly required the music therapy services for emotional stability. Also, instrument playing was used most among music activities, and musical structure was considered most when choosing music for therapy. Among the influential institutional factors, characteristics of the facility were considered most frequently, and the level of functioning was the most considered in terms of client-related factors. To advance the effective use of music therapy interventions with adults with ID, development of music therapy assessment tools and more active communication with facility staff were also suggested when working with this population.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of responsive teaching on students' productive argumentation practice. The participating students predicted the results of an activity to measure in which location on the body (the head, spine, or back of the hand) they would feel a cellphone's vibrations faster. They then engaged in the activity and built an argument to justify it. We interviewed the teacher to understand her thoughts regarding what was expected in the class. We also recorded and transcribed the class and the interview, for use in the analysis of the students' epistemological framing and the teacher's responsive practice in small group argumentation. We discovered that the teacher intervened in the groups with questions that elicited students' thoughts as starting points for her responsive practice. Her eliciting questions led the students to talk about their ideas, supporting their engagement in the argumentation. The teacher's understanding of the argumentation lesson and her behavior to understand the students' ideas reflected her productive framing, which led her to elicit students' ideas and to support their active interaction during the small-group argumentation. She presented rebuttals against students' ideas, engaging in the argumentation as another participant, not as an evaluator. This supported the equality of intellectual authority in the group and showed students how to engage in the argumentation, supporting students' productive framing. As a result of these responsive teaching practices, the students shifted their epistemological framing, resulting in productive argumentation practice. The results of this study will contribute to developing teachers' responsive teaching strategies to support students' productive framing in science classrooms.
Many ethnic groups have different cultural backgrounds and each culture has developed with its own traditions. The interaction between different cultures is getting more active through acculturation and cultural contact. The purpose of this study was to provide basic data about the domestic living of Australians in order to compare with Korean immigrants in the form of a Cross-Cultural study. For this, usage of domestic space and seating style of 53 Australian households in Melbourne were analyzed. Ethnographic research with questionnaire was used. The results of the research were as follows. 1. The open plan type combining the kitchen, dining and tying areas was the most popular one for Australians and they are very satisfied with that type. 2. The laundry room has been planned traditionally and Australians demand to be able to dry their laundry and do ironing in there additionally. Most of Australians were satisfied with separated toilet and bathroom. h drain hole on the floor of the bathroom was not essential for most Australians. 3. Australians were doing various activities in the living areas and they also enjoy gelling together in the kitchen and dining areas. 4. The seating style of Australians was generally the chair-seating style. However, they sometimes made a bed for guests on the floor and watched TV and treated guests with both chair seating style and floor seating style. 5. Australians were satisfied with using carpet presumably for its warmth.6. Many Australians took off their shoes inside of the house for hygienic reason. Most people organized the shoes in the cabinet of the bedroom. 7. The most popular heating system was ducted heating for Australians and they were very satisfied with it because it was suitable for the weather in Melbourne. 8. The living room was the most important one for Australian families and they thought that it should be decorated well for entertaining guests. It was also considered that brightness of the light was enough for most Australians.

The photochemistry of the derivatives of o-nitrobenzylcarboxyl esters or benzylsulfonyl derivatives has been well studied separately. But little attempt has been made to combine the fruits these two studies. Being photochemically active, benzylsulphonyl and intro groups should influence the reactivity of each other's, especially when the excited states are fully mixed due to the proximity of their location. The questions which should be clearly answered are; what kind of effect will be excerted to the other group, and whether these two functional groups are coupled in the course of the reaction. To answer the questions raised above, wer have synthesized two sulfonyl esters and four amides from the newly available starting material, 2-nitro-${\alpha}$-toluenesulfonyl chloride. The products identified from the exploratory solution photochemistry were cyclohexanol, phenol, cyclohexylamine, and sulfur dioxide. The results are not much different from the products originally anticipated. It has been temporarily concluded that there is little interaction between the benzyl sulfonyl group and ortho-nitro chromophore. The fact that a base (an amine) has been photochemically generated in solution photochemistry was further confirmed by and utilized in the solid phase quantitative photochemistry done on the film, so as to carry out the photochemical epoxide cure.
A series of catalysts, $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$, for ethylene dimerization were prepared by coprecipitation from a solution of nickel chloride - zirconium oxychloride mixture followed by dry impregnation with an aqueous solution of ammonium metatungstate and calcination in air. On the basis of the results obtained from x-ray diffraction and DSC, the addition of NiO and $WO_3$ to $ZrO_2$ shifted the transition of $ZrO_2$ from amorphous to a tetragonal phase toward higher temperatures due to the interaction between NiO(or $WO_3$) and $ZrO_2$. $NiO-ZrO_2$ without $WO_3$ was inactive for the ethylene dimerization, but $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$ was found to be very active even at room temperature. The high catalytic activity of $NiO-ZrO_2/WO_3$ was closely correlated with the increase of acid strength by the inductive effect of $WO_3$.
