UV-curable polyurethane acrylate prepolymers were prepared from diisocyanates [isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), 2,4-toluene diisocyanate (TDI), or 4,4'-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (H$_{12}$MDI)], diols [ethylene glycol (EG), 1,4-butane diol (BD), or 1,6-hexane diol (HD)], polypropylene glycol as a polyol. UY-curable mixtures were formulated from the prepolymer (90 wt%), reactive diluent monomer trimethylol propane triacrylate (10 wt%). and photoinitiator 1-hydroxycy-clohexyl ketone (3 wt% based on prepolymer/diluent). The effects of different diisocyanates/low molecular weigh dial on the dynamic mechanical thermal properties and elastic recovery of UV-cured polyurethane acrylate films were examined. The tensile storage modulus increased a little in the order of EG > BD > HD at the same diisocyanate. Two loss modulus peaks for all samples are observed owing to the glads transition of softs segments ($T_gh$) and the glass transition temperature of hard segments ($T_gh$). For the same diisocyanate, $T_gh$, decreased, however, $T_gh$ increased, in the order of HD > BD > EG. The elastic recovery also increased in the order of HD > BD > EG at the same diisocyanate. In case of same diols, $T_gh$ increased in the order of $H_12$MDl > TDI > IPDI significantly. The ultimate elongation and elastic recovery increased in the order of TDI > IPDI > $H_12$MDl at the same diol.l.
Polyurethane acrylate hybrid emulsions were prepared by seeded polymerization techniques. In the synthesis, seeded polyurethane dispersion containing a carboxylic group was used to endow hydrophilicity to the hybrid emulsion and various acrylates such as methyl methacrylate (MMA), 2-hydroxy ethylmethacrylate (2-HEMA), n-butyl acrylate (n-BA) and acrylic acid (AAc) were used to endow hydrophobicity. The particle size and distribution of various emulsion particles such as polyurethane acrylate hybrid emulsion, polyurethane dispersion homopolymer, acrylate emulsion, and physical blending emulsion were measured by a particle size analyzer. The average particle size of hybrid emulsion was greater than physical blending emulsion. And tensile strength, 100% modulus, elongation, and swelling properties of the polyurethane acrylate hybrid emulsion were studied and compared with those of polyurethane homopolymer, acrylate emulsion, and physically blended compositor, respectively. To improve chemical and physical resistance, this paper review a melamine hardener and compares it for effects on the physical properties of cured coating.

In this study, the caprolactone modified hydroxy acrylates (CHAs) were synthesized by ring-opening reaction of caprolactone and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA) as initiator. Also, the caprolactone modified urethane acrylate (UA) oligomers were synthesized by condensation reaction of previously synthesized CHAs, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (2-HEA) and hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer (HDT). Using the hydroxy number of CHAs, the molecular weights of the CHAs were calculated easily and their molecular weight was similar to the theoretical molecular weight of them. The viscosity of UA oligomers decreased as increasing a content of CHA in the UA oligomer. Cure films were prepared from UA oligomer, reactive diluents, and UV initiator to investigate their physical properties. The thermal stability and color difference on high temperature for the cured film were improved as increasing the crosslinking density. Their surface hardness was also increased as increasing crosslinking density of the cured films, but their elongation at break was decreased.

Ultraviolet curable coating solution was prepared with poly(ethylene glycol) acrylate oligomer and various mono and multi-functional acrylate monomers. The optical properties of UV cured coating layer on PET film with acrylate coating solution containing metal oxides, such as fumed silica and alumina, were also investigated to reduce light reflection on films. Poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate which has 575 of average molecular weight was used as oligomer acrylate, and pentaerythritol triacrylate and dipentaerythritolpenta-/hexa acrylate were used as multi-functional acrylate monomers. Also, butyl acrylate was used to improve the adhesion as well as to reduce glass transition temperature to give a better flexability. 1-hydroxy cyclohexyl phenyl ketone was used as photoinitiator. We found out the metal oxides in acrylate coating solution showed a homogeneous dispersion from energy dispersive spectroscopy data. Transmittance and light reflection of coated PET film was measured with UV/vis spectrometer and gloss meter, respectively. When 1.00 g of both metal oxides was added into coating solution, the transmittance and the glossiness were reduced from 90% to 30% and from 190 GU to 35 GU, respectively. However, adding up to 1.00 g of the metal oxide into coating solution did not affect on the hardness of coating layer and adhesion between coated layer and PET film. Conclusively, we can control transmittance and light reflection of coated film by adjusting the amounts of metal oxide in coating solution.

Generally, the polymer thick-film resistors for embedded organic or hybrid substrate are patterned by screen printing so that the accuracy of resistor pattern is not good and the tolerance of resistance is too high(${\pm}$20~30%). To reform these demerits, a method using Fodel$^{(R)}$ technology, which is the patterning method using a photosensitive resin to be developable by aqueous alkali-solution as a base polymer for thick-film pastes, was recently incorporated for the patterning of thermosetting thick-film resistor paste. Alkali-solution developable photosensitive resin system has a merit that the precise patterns can be obtained by UV exposure and aqueous development, so the essential point is to get the composition similar to PSR(photo solder resist) used for PCB process. In present research, we made the photopatternable resistor pastes using 8 kinds of epoxy acrylates and a conductive carbonblack (CDX-7055 Ultra), evaluated their developing performance, and then measured the resistance after final curing. To become developable by alkali-solution, epoxy acrylate oligomers with carboxyl group were prepared. Test coupons were fabricated by patterning copper foil on FR-4 CCL board, plating Ni/Au on the patterned copper electrode, applying the resistor paste on the board, exposing the applied paste to UV through Cr mask with resistor patterns, developing the exposed paste with aqueous alkali-solution (1wt% $Na_2CO_3$), drying the patterned paste at $80^{\circ}C$ oven, and then curing it at $200^{\circ}C$ during 1 hour. As a result, some test compositions couldn't be developed according to the kind of oligomer and, in the developed compositions, the measured resistance showed different results depending on the paste compositions though they had the same amount of carbonblack.

UV curable coating system described here consists of double layers, namely under layer and top laser coatings. The former consists of organic-inorganic conductive materials and the latter consists of multifunctional acrylates. Transparent double layer coatings were prepared on the transparent substrates i.e. PMMA, PC, PET etc. by the wet and wet coating procedure. Their surface resistances and film properties were measured as a function of the top layer thickness and relative humidity. As the thickness of the top layer was less than $10{\mu}m$, the surface resistance in the range of $10^8{\sim}10^{10}{\Omega}/cm^2$ was obtained. The surface properties of the two-layer coating were remarkably improved compared with the single layer coating. The effects of migration of conducting materials on the film properties of multilayer coating were investigated by using contact angle and Fourier transform infrared/attenuated total reflection(FT-IR/ATR). It was found that the migration of dopant(dodecyl benzenesulfonic acid, DBSA) molecules were occurred from film-substrate interface to film-air interface in the organic conductive coating system but not in the inorganic one.

Since minerals are in ionic forms in aqueous phase (like deep sea water), it is very hard to incorporate concentrated minerals in gel like cosmetic formulations which are generally composed of carbomer or acrylates polymer. In this study, we invented a salt-resistant network formulation made of silicon copolyol. It was found that the network formulation traps minerals (especially from marine) in a mesh-like silicone copolyol structure. Since the mineral-containing formulation makes a very thin film on the skin, minerals could be easily absorbed into stratum corneum. In 6 weeks in vivo test, it was found that the novel mineral formulation increased the amounts of amino acids, major components of natural moisturizing factors (NMFs), as well as levels of minerals. It was also found that the moisture contents and the brightness of the skin increased.
Vinyl acetate/alkyl acrylate copolymers were prepared by water-born emulsion copolymerization according to the compositional change of vinyl acetate and various alkyl acrylates such as methyl acrylate (MA), ethyl acrylate (EA), and n-butyl acrylate (BA). Ammonium persulfate (APS) was used as an initiator and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) was used as a protective colloid. The significant result was described as follows. The activation energy determined by an isothermal analysis in the temperature region between $100{\sim}200^{\circ}C$ of the copolymer had the order of PVAc/PMA > PVAc/PEA > PVAc/PBA. The peel strengths before and after the plasma treatment were the order of PVAc/PMA > PVAc/PEA > PVAc/PBA.
Two functional urethane acrylates were synthesized by using polycarprolactonediol (PCLD) and diisocyanate. The synthesized fuctional urethane acrylate was mixed with butyl acrylate(BA) or adhesion promoters, and their properties were investigated. To synthesize an excellent transparent urethane acrylate, isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI) was used. In addition, the effect of adding butyl acrylate for the improvement of shrinkage of urethane acrylate was studied. The results showed that the addition of butyl acrylate improved the shrinkage, and the optimum butyl acrylate content was 15 wt%. Both 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate (2-EHA) and ethyl acrylate(EA) were polymerized at $85^{\circ}C$ for 4 hrs to use as adhesion promoters, and the polymerized adhesion promoters were mixed to the UV-curing resin. The results showed that the adhesion properties increased with the increase of adhesion promoters content up to 15 wt%.
Two types of polyurethane-acrylate polymer were synthesized by reaction of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA), acrylamide(AA), and polyurethane prepolymer. Water-soluble cationic polyurethane/acrylate retention aids were prepared by using polyurethane-acrylate, benzyl chloride and distilled water. The retention, drainage and strength properties of the retention aids were investigated. The retention of cationic polyurethane/acrylate type retention aids maintained around 70 % regardless of nm. COD value of white water was much reduced by adding the retention aids to it. Drainage property was also improved by addition of the retention aids. In addition, specific compression strength of the paper was improved a little by addition of the retention aids. PU-HEMA type showed better performance than PU-AA in terms of compression strength of the paper.
