  • This paper includes a review of 555 drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA) cases analyzed at the National Forensic Service (NFS), South Korea, between 2006 and 2012. The results of toxicological analyses of blood and urine samples were also reported, and furthermore the results were interpreted with respect to the number of drugs detected. The number of DFSA cases was highest during warmer summer months and the mean age of the victims was 25 years, with 48% being between 20 and 29 years. Accommodations or entertainment places were the most frequent place of the sexual assault (57%); and the assailant was a stranger in 72% of the DFSA cases. Drugs were identified in the blood or urine samples in 145 cases (26%) and sedative-hypnotics, such as benzodiazepines and zolpidem, were the most commonly detected, along with sedative antihistamines such as doxylamine and diphenhydramine. The frequent presence of sedative drugs in biological samples tends to implicate their use in chemical submission. However, interpreting the analytical results in terms of voluntary vs. surreptitious administration of drugs requires further detailed investigation and knowledge of the victim's health status and medication used at the time of event.

  • In correlation to the rapid growth of Korea's economy and increased international exchange, hotel architecture in Korea has likewise evolutionized in its own distinctive style. Since hotels accomodate foreign visitors, they should be representative of the local architecture in which they reside, to add to the experience of the regions culture. City hotels provide not only primary housing functions but also many different varieties of services. Furthermore, city hotels operate as a focal point for their local communities. Seoul announced special measures for the expansion of accommodations for foreign tourists, and a large number of hotel construction entities have consequently propagated. Unfortunately, the designs for most of these new hotels have failed to reflect their local cultural characteristics, with most having similar designs and programs. As Korea enters an era seeing ten million foreign tourists annually, progressive reform is especially necessary. Space marketing, which is based on strategies of cultural experience, is a crucial element to city boutique hotel planning. It must be applied to satisfy both the cultural needs of its local communities and well as to vitalize the local economy through development of cultural tourism. To date, there have been numerous studies on boutique hotels and space marketing. However, most of these studies are limited to interior designs and artistic trends rather than focusing on the unique architectural and public aspects of their respective cities. In this thesis, the overall aim and strategies of space marketing for the city boutique hotel are analyzed, and the elements of strategies are used for further case analysis. The purpose of this study is to find applicability of Korean boutique hotel development through the result of case studies. Also, this thesis aims to advocate space marketing for Korea's forthcoming boutique hotels, as a means to showcase its unique cultural assets as well as to advance its international appeal and competitiveness.

  • Industrial Safety and Health Law (ISH Law) of Japan requires abnormalities identified in evaluations of worker health and working environments are reported to occupational physicians, and employers are advised of measures to ensure appropriate accommodations in working environments and work procedures. Since the 1980s, notions of a risk assessment and occupational safety and health management system were expected to further prevent industrial accidents. In 2005, ISH Law stipulated workplace risk assessment using the wording "employers shall endeavor." Following the amendment, multiple documents and guidelines for risk assessment for different work procedures were developed. They require ISH Laws to be implemented fully and workplaces to plan and execute measures to reduce risks, ranking them from those addressing potential hazards to those requiring workers to wear protective articles. A governmental survey in 2005 found the performance of risk assessment was 20.4% and common reasons for not implementing risk assessments were lack of adequate personnel or knowledge. ISH Law specifies criminal penalties for both individuals and organizations. Moreover, under the Labor Contract Law promulgated in 2007, employers are obliged to make reasonable efforts to ensure employee health for foreseeable and avoidable risks. Therefore, enterprises neglecting even the non-binding provisions of guidelines are likely to suffer significant business impact if judged to be responsible for industrial accidents or occupational disease. To promote risk assessment, we must strengthen technical, financial, and physical support from public-service organizations, encourage the dissemination of good practices to reduce risks, and consider additional employer incentives, including relaxed mandatory regulations.

  • The Internet allows firms to serve customers more effectively than ever before. In the B2C context, we examine the interrelationships among information privacy concerns, e-trust, and e-loyalty. The authors extend prior research by incorporating constructs of information privacy concerns into a more holistic conceptual framework. This study answers three research questions: Will the three components of information privacy concerns have a significant effect on e-loyalty through e-trust?, Does e-trust mediate e-loyalty?, Finally, do switching costs have a moderation effect between e-trust and e-loyalty?, The authors examine data from customers who have booked hotel accommodations online. The results support our hypotheses and confirm both the mediation role of e-trust and the moderation role of switching costs. Conceptually, this study provides an empirical validation of information privacy concerns, e-trust, and loyalty linkage. On the managerial level, this research provides insights into critical drivers of loyalty in the emerging online marketplace.

  • Bulcheonwi is determined by various ways. The first is certified by the state. Kings granted posthumous names to figures such as meritorious retainers, figures whose mortuary tablets were put into Jongmyo Shrine, and venerated figures with erudition and virtue whose mortuary tablets were put into Munmyo (Korean primary Confucian shrine The purpose of this study is to understand the spatial perception of Main head families (大宗家) and Sub head families (小宗家) have been divided for several centuries. This study was conducted under the assumption that it was possible to understand the mutual influence and relationship between perception and space by examining how methods for ritual ceremonies held in Main head families were conducted in different spaces of Sub head families or the process of ritual ceremonies changed with space. Bulcheonwi rites was performed by each family's own concepts of spaces such as Jeongchim or Cheongsa For actual ritual space, An-chae, Sarang-Chae and Byeoldang was utilized. This shows that one family's conception and utilization of each space was correspondent also different family s had their own idea of utilizing different spaces. In addition depends on the family in this study, there was differences on positon of Sa-dang upon the regions or time of construction. This can be concluded as familes had their own accommodations depends on building's space layout and traditons rather than following traditional Rites book's the rules of decorum.

  • Three research hypotheses expected when working with a mobile app were verified. As follows: (1) Usability varies depending on the external structure of the tree-view menu. (2) If the menu arrangement is different from the script expected by users, the usability is poor. And (3) the effects of each of these two hypotheses vary depending on the complexity of the task. To this end, a script for booking accommodations expected by undergraduate students was written, and an experiment was designed with the task completion time and error rate as dependent variables. The experiment was conducted by implementing a prototype for reservation system on a smartphone As a result, while the overall performance was unfavorable when the task was complicated, the superiority of sectional menu was prominent when the task was complicated, and positive responses were observed when the menu arrangement in a complicated task matched user expectations. By discussing these results, it was found that when designing a procedural menu on a mobile screen, we come up with measures to minimize the burden of working memory, consider what tree-views are for the task, and that in complex tasks, menus should be arranged according to the scripts expected by users.

  • In relation to the travel itinerary recommendation service, which has recently become in high demand, our previous work introduces a method to quantify the popularity of places including tour spots, restaurants, and accommodations through social big data analysis, and to create a travel schedule based on the analysis results. On the other hand, the generated schedule was mainly composed of travel routes that connected tour spots with the shorted distance, and detailed schedule information including restaurants and accommodation information for each travel date was not provided. This paper presents an algorithm for constructing a detailed travel route using a scenario template in a travel schedule created based on social big data, and introduces a prototype system that implements it. The proposed system consists of modules such as place information collection, place-specific popularity score estimation, shortest travel rout generation, daily schedule organization, and UI visualization. Experiments conducted based on social reviews collected from 63,000 places in the Gyeongnam province proved effectiveness of the proposed system.

  • The purpose of this exploratory study is to identify the mobile phone applications (apps) used by foreign tourists visiting South Korea through a pilot study using focus groups and individual interviews. Concentrating on tourist mobile app use in a smart tourism environment and categorized through a taxonomy of mobile applications lays the framework and determines the factors boosting tourism smartphone app trends by foreign tourists visiting South Korea. Researchers collected data through ethnographic methods and analyzed it through qualitative research to uncover major themes within the smart tourism app use phenomenon. The researchers coded, counted, analyzed, and then divided the findings gleaned from a pilot study and interviews into a taxonomy of seven logical smartphone app categories. The labeling and coding of all the data accounting for similarities and differences can be recognized and are logically discussed in the implications of the apps used by tourists to assist tourist destinations. More specifically these findings will assist smart tourism destinations by better understanding foreign tourist smartphone app use behavior. Tourists visiting South Korea interviewed in this study exhibited significant mastery of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, craved free WiFi access, and utilized smartphone apps for all facets of their travel. Findings show major concentrations of app use in bookings of accommodations, tourist attractions, online shopping, navigation, wayfinding, augmented reality, information searching, language translation, gaming, and online dating while traveling in South Korea.
