지역사회중심 재활서비스를 위한 재가 장애인의 요구 사정에 관한 연구 (An Assessment of the Needs of Crippled Persons Staying at Home)

  • This study was carried out to idenify the health problems and needs of crippled persons in order to develop a community based rehabilitation service program through public health center. Information on health problems and needs were obtained from 120 crippled persons staying at home by questionaire and a measuring ADL. The results were summarized as follows 1. Among 120 subjects, male crippled (70.3%) outnumbered female crippled (29.7%). Many crippled persons belonged to the 40-49 age group (33.6%) while others were over 60 years (17.4%). There were 36.8% crippled persons with an elementary education, 26.5% had completed high school, 14.5% had completed middle school. 31% of the crippled persons were employed but most of them had unskilled jobs. 80% of the respondents replied that their monthly income was under 800,000 won. 2. The major causes of their handicap were due to acquired factors(92%) such as accidents, in fectious & communicable diseases and chronic diseases rather than congenital factors(8%). Crippled persons who belong to the first grade of disabilities were 14.8%, the second grade 35.7%, the third grade 21.7%, the forth grade 12.2%, the fifth grade 12.2% and the sixth grade 3.5%. 3. This study measured the degree of the ADL of crippled persons by a modified Barthel Index including 11 items. 73.5% of them were fully independent, 8.5% required minimal help, 2.7% required moderate help, 6.0% required substantial help and 9.4% were unable to perform task. In response to the 11 items of ADL, crippled persons required more help in stair climbing, ambulation and bathing than in other items. 4. In responding to concerning health problems, 10.3% of the subjects replied with incontinence, 8.5% malnutrition, 7.6% fecal incontinence and bedsores 2.6%. Chronic diseases which needs treatment were chronic pain(61.0 %), hypertension(16.5%) and diabetes(16.5%) 5. To the question of what type of rehabilitation services subjects required, chronic diseases management(52.1%) and physical therapy (41.2%) were the highest. The most important social welfare services subjects required were economics support (51.3%) and introductions to job opportunities(42%).

Comparison of pediatric injury patterns before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in Korea: a retrospective study

  • Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic led to significant changes in the lifestyle patterns of children and affected the patterns of pediatric injuries. This study analyzed the changing patterns of pediatric injury overall and by age groups, based on the datasets before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This study is based on the data of patients who presented with injuries at 23 hospital emergency departments participating in the Emergency Department-based Injury In-depth Surveillance (EDIIS) conducted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. The surveillance data was categorized by injury mechanism, location, activity, and severity. We analyzed the injury patterns of pediatric patients aged 0 to 15 years. Subgroup analysis was conducted by age group in children aged 7 to 15 years, 1 to 6 years, and <1 year. Results: When comparing the COVID-19 pandemic period to the pre-COVID-19 period, the total number of pediatric patients with injuries decreased by 38.7%, while the proportions of in-home injuries (57.9% vs. 67.9%), and minor injuries (38.9% vs. 39.7%) increased. In the 7 to 15 years group, bicycle riding injuries (50.9% vs. 65.6%) and personal mobility device injuries (2.4% vs. 4.6%) increased. The 1 to 6 years group also showed an increase in bicycle accident injuries (15.8% vs. 22.4%). In the <1 year group, injuries from falls increased (44.5% vs. 49.9%). Self-harm injuries in the 7 to 15 years group also increased (1.6% vs. 2.8%). Conclusions: During the COVID-19 pandemic period, the overall number of pediatric injuries decreased, while injuries occurring at home and during indoor activities increased. Traffic accidents involving bicycles and personal mobility devices and self-harm injuries increased in the 7 to 15 years group. In the <1 year group, the incidence of falls increased. Medical and societal preparedness is needed so that we might anticipate these changes in the patterns of pediatric injuries during future infectious disease pandemics.

항공기 과주방지 포장시스템에 적합한 저강도 펄라이트 콘크리트의 개발 및 적합성 연구 (A Suitability Study and Development of Low Strength Perlite Concrete as Aircraft Rapid Arresting System)

  • 최근 몇 년간 국내 외에서는 연평균 10건 이상의 항공기 과주사고가 발생하고 있으며, 이러한 사고를 방지하고자 활주로 종단안전구역 기준을 설정하였다. 그러나 대부분의 공항은 종단안전구역 기준을 설정하기 전에 시공되어 기존 활주로의 경우 대부분이 활주로 종단안전구역 기준을 만족하지 못하고 있는 실정이며 자연장애물, 환경, 지역개발 등으로 활주로 종단안전구역의 기준에 부합하도록 활주로 종단을 확장하기 곤란한 경우가 많다. 이러한 이유로 미연방항공청은 활주로 종단에 항공기 과주방지 포장시스템을 설치하도록 권고하고 있으며, 현재 많은 미국 공항에서 설치완료 하였거나 설치 중에 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 국내 기술을 이용하여 항공기 과주방지 포장시스템에 적합한 재료를 개발하기 위하여 저강도 펄라이트 콘크리트의 기초적인 연구를 수행하였다. 저강도 펄라이트 콘크리트의 단위중량은 배합조건에 따라 $4.5{\sim}6.4kN/m^3$의 범위를 나타내었으며, 일축압축강도는 $400{\sim}1,470kN/m^2$의 강도 범위를 가지고 있었다. CBR 시험기를 이용하여 관입압축강도시험을 수행한 결과 전체 높이에서 관입량이 약 60% 이후부터 강도가 증가하기 시작하였으며, 덤프트럭을 이용하여 관입시험을 수행한 결과 약 40%의 관입량이 측정되었다.

잠재적 폭발위험장소에서 내연기관에 의한 점화 위험성에 관한 연구 (Study of the Risk of Ignition due to Internal Combustion Engines in Areas with Potentially Explosive Gas Atmospheres)

  • 국내외의 가연성 또는 인화성물질을 취급하는 대형설비에서의 폭발위험장소에 대한 안전관리는 기업의 지속가능경영과 신뢰를 바탕으로 한 지역사회와의 공존에 있어 매우 중요하다. 폭발위험장소의 안전관리는 크게 가연성 또는 인화성 물질의 누출을 제어하는 시스템과 이러한 가연성 또는 인화성물질이 누출되어 폭발분위기를 형성할 때 점화원을 제어함으로써 화재 또는 폭발사고로 전이되지 않도록 하는 방폭시스템이 있다. 제도와 기술로 인해 전기적 점화원에 대한 방폭설비는 상당히 보급되어 관리되고 있다. 하지만 열적 점화원의 경우, 위험성에 대한 인식과 관련 기술개발이 미흡하다. 본 연구는 잠재적 폭발위험장소에서 내연기관의 점화 위험을 보고하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 문헌조사를 통하여 관련 국제표준과 사고사례 및 위험분석보고서를 연구하고, 국내 중부권 공정안전관리제도 대상 사업장의 디젤엔진의 불꽃방지기 등 안전장치 적용실태를 조사하였다. 실제적으로 본 연구결과를 석유화학 산업에 적용함에 있어, 디젤엔진과 같은 내연기관 점화원의 위험인식을 통해 잠재적 폭발위험장소에서의 폭발방지에 대한 안전관리방안으로 활용 될 수 있을 것이다.

어린이 안전대책 실효성 향상을 위한 정책대상자 인식조사 연구 - 어린이, 보호자, 어린이이용시설 종사자 중심으로 - (A Study on the Perception of Policy Targets to Improve the Effectiveness of Child Safety Measure - Focusing on Children, Guardians, and Workers in Children's Facilities -)

  • 연구목적: 본 연구는 어린이 안전대책의 실효성을 향상시키기 위한 개선방안을 마련하고자 한다. 연구방법: 어린이 안전사고 발생 현황에 대하여 조사하였고 과거 정부 부처의 주요 어린이 안전대책을 분석하여 시사점을 도출하였다. 또한 어린이안전 정책 대상자인 어린이, 보호자, 어린이이용시설 종사자 1,000명을 대상으로 인식조사를 실시하여 향후 어린이 안전대책의 실효성 방안을 제시하였다. 연구결과: 어린이 생활공간(환경)의 안전도에 대해 보호자는 35.3%로 1/3 이상이 안전하지 않다고 응답하였다. 또한 보호자(95.3%), 어린이이용시설 종사자(89%) 모두 '교통사고'에 대하여 위험성이 가장 높다고 응답하였고 2번째 위험 요인은 부모(어린이이용시설 종사자 부주의)와 어린이이용시설 종사자(가정 내 보호자 부주의)가 상반된 의견을 보였다. 장소별 위험성을 살펴보면 '도로와 인도'를 가장 위험한 장소로 응답하였고 어린이안전을 위해 부모(64.3%) 및 종사자(78.3%) 모두 '부모'역할이 가장 중요하다고 응답하였다. 어린이 안전사고 예방을 위한 개선사항은 '도로교통 시설물 안전관리 강화' 응답률이 보호자 75.8%, 어린이이용시설 종사자 65%로 가장 필요하다고 응답하였다. 결론: 어린이 안전대책의 실효성을 강화하기 위한 방안은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어린이 안전대책의 연속성을 확보하기 위해 2022년 8월부터 시행된 「어린이안전 종합계획」을 수립하고 정책 대상자가 체감할 수 있도록 실효성 있게 운영해야 한다. 둘째, 어린이 정책 대상자의 체감도를 향상시키기 위해 어린이안전 분야별 특성을 고려한 추진대책을 지속적으로 강화해야 한다. 셋째, 어린이 안전성 확보를 위한 분야별 안전인프라를 확충해야 한다. 넷째, 어린이 스스로가 안전성을 확보할 수 있는 안전교육을 강화하고 부모(보호자) 안전교육이 의무화될 수 있는 세부적인 대책 마련해야 한다.

지역사회 노인을 위한 주택수리 및 개조 최저기준에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Minimum Standards of Housing Repair for Older People Living in the Community)

  • The purpose of this study is 1) to clarify that the house is no long the safe place through the cases of the senior safety accidents and to argue the need for housing repair and 2) to present the minimum standards for housing repair by comparing the cases here as well as the abroad and to back up the standards with the current senior housing environment 300 people at least 60 years old living in Seoul$\cdot$Metropolitan area were interviewed using the structured questionnaire. As the result, the following conclusions were made: 1. There was high accident rates of the senior residents due to physical deficits within the house, causing excessive medical cost and decreased housing satisfaction. This problem can be sufficiently prevented by housing repair which can not only solve the safety problem but also support self sufficient living for the senior residents. 2. Proper housing repair required the architectural know how as well as the expertise knowledge of the physical characteristics of the senior people. Therefore, it is essential to secure the professional (i.e., occupational therapist) who can analyze the needs of the senior residents and evaluate and/or predict the obstacles during repair. Furthermore, development and distribution of the standardized manual are also needed. 3. The minimum standard for housing repair could be approached in view of 'barrier-free' concept. First, the bumps should be removed, slippery prevented, and safety grab-bar installed for safety. Second, the entrance should be widened and the bathroom and kitchen restructured to support for the senior residents' self sufficiency. To make housing repair policy more efficient, the legal basis is required. It can be incorporated into the existing senior citizens 'Welfare Act' or the 'Senior Residents Medical Insurance' which will be effective starting in 2007.

  • 최근 불규칙한 해양기상변화로 인하여 항해하는 선박들은 해양 기상환경에 대한 대비책이 절실한 상황이다. 해양 기상 모니터링시스템은 이러한 해양 기상환경에 대한 정보를 수집하여 주변 연안을 항행하는 선박에게 실시간 제공하므로서 해양교통 안전을 확보하기 위한 시스템이다. 오래전부터 해양 선진국에서는 항로표지시설 등에 해양기상관측센서를 설치하여 해양 기상모니터링 시스템을 구축 운용 하고 있으며, 선박의 안전항해에 많은 도움을 주고 있다. 더욱 발전된 해양기상모니터링 시스템을 위하여 국내외 현황을 분석하고 연구하므로서 선박의 안전항행과 해양사고를 예방하고, 최적의 해양기상모니터링 시스템을 위한 향후 발전방안에 대해서 논의하고자 한다.

학교의 안전교육 관련 특성이 청소년의 사고발생 예측에 미치는 영향 (School Safety Education Factors Predicting Injury Prevalence Among Korean Adolescence)

  • Injury is a leading cause of death in the children and adolescent populations. In particular, more than 80% of unintentional injury was related to risk-taking behaviors involved in diverse accidents around school and home. Therefore, educational approaches should be provided for children and adolescent populations, and schools are the essential and appropriate sites to conduct safety education. This study was conducted to identify injury prevalence and safety education at schools among middle and high school students in Korea. About 1,034 middle and high students in 28 schools participated in a self-administered survey. The target schools were selected from the stratified random sampling method throughout schools of seven metropolitan cities in Korea. The questionnaires were delivered to the vice-principals by ground mailing service and the vice-principals administered survey data collection. The questionnaire asked about safety education provided in schools, injury experience in the last year, needs for injury prevention class in school, and demographics. All survey responses were entered into SPSS worksheet. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and descriptive discriminant analysis (DDA) were used in statistical analysis with SPSS software 11.1. Multivariate analysis of variance was conducted as a preliminary analysis of DDA. According to the result of multivariate analysis of variance, gender (man), grade (poor), living with both parents, and displaying injury prevention messages on school news board were significantly different between the injured student group and the uninjured student group (p= .00). These four factors also had significant effects on students' injury experience in DDA, although correlation of the four factors with injury experience was weak overall based on their canonical function coefficients. All structure coefficients of the four factors were greater than .30, which means the four factors have discriminant effects on injury prevalence. The sizes of the discriminant effects, in order, were largly from gender, grade, living with both parents, and safety message display on school news boards.

  • This study was carried out during 3 years from March 1992 to March 1995, 140 healthy people and 140 C.V.A patients were investigated, at an oriental clinic in Taejon. The data collected was analysed using a SAS. The results are as follows. 1. The Relationships between patients who have undergone one or more abortion procedures and C.V.A occurrence. The Characteristics of Arc Scattering and Fusing Current of Copper Wire in the Fault Process DB System of Cables in a PL Environment

  • The importance of. identifying the causes of electrical faults cannot be overstated because of the accidents caused by over-current that take place at the home, the office and electrical facilities due to misuse, poor products and system faults. It is necessary to gather objective, scientific data pertaining to electrical fault investigation in a product liability(PL) environment. To date, no database(DB) has been built concerning the accurate cause analysis of faultyfacilities. In this paper, accident hazard and arc scattering when over-current flows in copper wire was investigated. It was found that when over-current flows in a copper wire, the copper wire became heated and bent and beads were scattered around the wire with a flash. It was determinedthat the fusing current and time was related to the current rise per second. For example, when the current rise per second was largethe fusing current was higher than when the current rise per second was small, and the beads dispersed along a wide area. Fusing time, however, was shorter. The possibility of electrical fault became highest when the fusing current was higher. As the current rise per second is short, the dendrite structure is distributed in the surface of the copper wire. These experimental results can be utilized for a fault process DB system in the investigation and the prevention of electrical faults.
